After evaluating the state of our existing logo and website, it was agreed that it was time to head back to the drawing board in order to re-brand MJK in a way that would tie-in more aptly with the popular design trends of today.

As an organisation whose vision is to offer people an opportunity to join Jesus’

movement, it’s absolutely essential that it appears relevant, right now, in 2012.

The new MJK website is now live and looks fantastic! The Crossfya and iTruth websites are currently in construction and having seen versions of each at varying stages we are incredibly excited and can’t wait to share it with you.

Each of these are being constructed with a view to everything being much more accessible and easier to use. We wanted to build a website that whilst not

only appearing relevant and cutting edge in terms of it’s presentation, could be integrated with a range of social media.

This allows for greater communication between ourselves and those we aim to reach, a greater emphasis placed upon our ability to follow up on any commitments made. Why not go online and check them out!

The summer is the time that the team spend most time travelling from place to place to do outdoor events. The summer season kicked off in Braintree, Essex when over 1000 people turned up to a Party in the Park event in the rain and to Praise in the Park church service on the Sunday.

One of the highlights of the summer was an event held in Chesham. Following a school’s week in June, a Party in the Park was held in July where over 1500 people showed up, many of the young people Crossfya had met in the schools came to see the band and a lot stayed all day to just chat with the band. More than 50 people of all ages responded to the gospel at the event.

Despite the very rainy summer, there have been many events that have drawn in crowds, including Salford where over 2000 people turned up and a number of people responded. At a Jesus Manchester in June, despite the heavy rain before leaving, as soon as Crossfya got to town there were blue skies and crowds of hundreds meaning that we ran out of response packs within an hour!

On the back of being invited to a youth event at Audacious church at the beginning of the summer, Crossfya were invited back for one of the pre-shows at the Audacious summer conference which draws in crowds from across the globe.

The summer ended with a weekend on the beach in Weymouth, at Refresh on the Beach; despite raining the first two days, the last day was the busiest the beach had been all summer, and many people came down onto the beach to see what was going on around the stage. From Weymouth, Crossfya

travelled up to London to take part in Notting Hill carnival, having been invited to Kensington Temple which is right on the route between the underground and the carnival. The crowds that gathered were huge, which means that many people will have heard the good news of the gospel.

All in all another great summer reaching tens of thousands of people with the great news of Jesus – thank you for your prayer and financial support which enables us to do what we do!

The team have recently spent a week in Poland where they shared the gospel with over 1200 teenagers and saw over 50 respond at the end of the week and some amazing healings take place. They then went into a schools week in Oldham -at the end of the week 50 young people responded to the challenge to give their lives to Jesus and again awesome healings took place - including one girl who had flat feet and arches grew in her feet!

It’s been a busy few months for Crossfya, spreading the great news of Jesus using rap and dance music. The band have seen God do some amazing things this summer through the work they’re doing.

CrossfyaTV is a new initiative started by Make Jesus Known to engage young people in visual media. Using the CrossfyaTV YouTube channel the band are releasing regular news updates, music videos, short iTruth films about Jesus, and videos from various events. The channel is a fantastic new platform to engage young people with the gospel and share the amazing life-change found in Jesus.

video in August, the response has been fantastic with over six thousand views on CrossfyaTV. The band are passionate about sharing the gospel and the song explains the amazing truth of Jesus being our ‘Lifesaver’. Accompanying the single and music video are two remixes; the band have been giving the CD’s away all summer and the remix EP is available to download in exchange for a tweet.

Following the fantastic reception of the Lifesaver single the band have been working hard on a new five track EP. The EP features songs about joining God’s movement, songs explaining the basic gospel message and also gives an opportunity to make a response in a relevant way.

SCHOOLS Crossfya have had the opportunity to deliver some fantastic days and weeks in schools over the last 6 months with many more opportunities over the next 4 months.

A schools week consists of a number of things: teaching lessons explaining the truth about Jesus and breaking stereotypes of a Christian, performing in assemblies, performing in lunch time concerts and ending the week with a concert on the Friday evening where the young people have a chance to respond to what they’ve heard in the lessons and the make a choice to follow Jesus.

Pray:• Schools weeks are always a fantastic opportunity to share the message of Jesus so please pray for Crossfya as they work hard to make Jesus known• Schools weeks are extremely tiring so please pray for energy for the band• Schools weeks are expensive, so please consider supporting financially as these opportunities are not always paid• Pray for more opportunities and favour as we seek to go into schools that have previously been closed to Christians

Over the last 18 months we have given out 5,000 iTruth DVDs. These are a great tool to connect people with the Bible and God’s message for them today. It has been so encouraging to get phone calls in the office from people who have met us at an outreach, taken a DVD, gone home and been so impacted they have given their lives to God. To duplicate

another 5,000 will cost £7,000 – money we are trusting God to provide.

To engage with young people more we are also in the process of developing an iTruth App so people can instantly download the videos, keep in contact with MJK and develop their walk as a disciple through the use of social media. Please pray for wisdom in developing this and the funds to make it a reality, we are in need of around £5,000 to get the App up and running, and then there are the ongoing costs of making and uploading new films each month.

MJK has a heart for the young people in schools in Oldham and we are planning a youth event which is being held in Oldham’s biggest night club, Liquid on Friday 16th November.

The event will be called Overload. Our vision for Overload is for hundreds of young people to attend the night and for them to be hit with the amazing good news of Jesus and for transformation to take place in their lives.

The night will be full of live performances from Crossfya, fun and challenging messages. We will be partnering with many local churches and organisations in Oldham so we can make Overload a great success. Overload will also feature as a termly event so we can have a regular impact in Oldham.

OVERLOAD

Despite the grueling pain and walking for 18 hours non-stop we are pleased to report that the whole team (along with some friends who came for the journey!) managed to complete the 40 mile sponsored walk in June! They raised over £2,300 towards the mission at MJK – well done to all the guys involved! If you have an idea that you could run to raise funds for MJK (don’t worry you don’t have to walk 40 miles!) then get in touch and we’ll help in any way we can.

Outreach on the streets has always been core to what we do here at MJK. It is so encouraging to go into a city centre, all volunteers branded with “Jesus in my town” and instantly draw a crowd through music, drama, dance etc. When the good news is shared the crowds always engage, and many take iTruth’s and respond to what they’ve heard. We are sure God has been telling us to make this a real focus over the coming months, please pray for ongoing favour as we go out and share ‘seeds’ of the good news with thousands of people each day. The MJK Academy is a brand new initiative, which will hopefully be launched in 2013. This new year out scheme is part of our belief in equipping and inspiring this generation and we want to commit time and resources into developing people and encouraging them to find their God given potential.

Jesus himself said “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few”. As a small team we work hard to make the most of the opportunities God is giving us, but we need help to make the most of them!

Maybe you could help organise a ‘Jesus in my town’ where you live, perhaps you could do a year out on our ‘MJK Academy’, if you live near Oldham you may be able to volunteer some time around the office or helping on events. Either way please get in touch if you can help!
