Inspiration for the Week As we gather today to reaffirm our

faith in the real presence of Christ in the

Eucharist, we are reminded that we are also

the Body of Christ. The Mission of the

Gospel calls us to be Christ for others.

There is so much brokenness and pain in

our world. Many people are lost and

feeling lonely, marginalized and oppressed,

victimized and abused. Every time we

receive the Body and Blood of Christ, we

are asked to become what we eat. Are we

willing to step aside from our

preoccupations and concerns so that we can

be Christ for others?

Why Do We Do That? - Catholic Life Explained Question: What are the "fruits" of the Holy Communion?

Answer: The Eucharist, like all Sacraments, offers its own unique grace. We receive a

special share in God's life that helps us in our Faith Journey. We are given all we need to

sustain and nurture our relationship with God. The Eucharist is the source and summit of

the Christian life. Everything we are and everything we hope to become is found in this

Sacrament. It is essential to the life of the Church, to each member of the Church.

Without it, there is no Church. The Eucharist is the center of our spiritual life and has

enormous effects on our growth, our holiness, and our way of life. The Fruits of the Holy

Communion are the benefits one receives from the Sacrament. These Fruits of the Holy

Communion are discussed in the Catechism in the article on the Eucharist. The primary

benefit is Union with Christ. We become one with Him sacramentally, just as we hope to

become one with Him for eternity. The Eucharist also separates us from sin, both past and

future. It forgives the venial sins of the past and, by the love we receive, protects us from

mortal sin in the future. The Church Community is also unified and strengthened by the

Eucharist. It unites us to the poor and offers the pledge of eternal life.

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ On this Feast of Corpus Christi, we hear the account of the

Last Supper. This was Passover, an ancient sign of the covenant of

Moses. The Hebrew people celebrated God's providential care for

His people. To the listening disciples, Jesus makes a very bold

claim. "This is My blood of the Covenant." At the time of the first

Passover -- the redemption of the Hebrew people from slavery to

the Egyptians -- the blood of the sacrificial lamb was spread on the

lintels of the doorpost. Tomorrow, some of the disciples would

witness the Blood of the New Covenant spread across the wood of

the cross. Christ's Body and Blood are more than a sign. They are a

Sacrament. In the Sacrament, the sign makes real what it signifies.

More than ritual, a Sacrament enacts truth of the covenantal love of

God and His promise of fidelity. It's a promise God keeps. The

same Bread and Wine of that First Holy Thursday Liturgy becomes

-- throughout the centuries and until the end of time -- the very

Body and Blood of Christ. On this Feast, we celebrate the unfailing

Covenantal Love of our God. As you partake in the Eucharist today,

and next Sunday, and the Sunday after that, remember that you

receive neither a meaningless sign nor an empty offer. You receive

God Himself, as He fulfills His promise to remain with us always.

Everyday Stewardship

Recognize God in Your Ordinary moments What else is there to give when one has already given away

Their body and Their life? What more can one say or do to

demonstrate love for another when all they have has been given to

another? This total giving of self to loved ones cannot be trumped

by flowery words or material gifts that are fleeting. This is the

ultimate in love. This is the love Jesus had for us on the way to His

passion, at the institution of the Holy Eucharist. This is the love He

has for us daily in the celebration of the Mass on altars in every

Church, in every city, in every nation on earth. No one can give

more. No one can ask for more. This is the true heart of Christian

stewardship. If you take the time to gaze upon your God in the

simplest of forms and begin to reflect on what has actually taken

place with bread and wine becoming the presence of the Divine,

then you can begin to understand true humility, sacrifice, and love.

And when you have the privilege to take that Real Presence into

your body at the meal where you are an honored guest, you become

one with the One who is the embodiment of stewardship. Then, you

must ask the question of yourself, "How can I even begin to reflect

the love that I have encountered at this Feast?" The answer is you

can begin with the simple actions of the day: where will you go,

whom will you meet, and in what work will you partake? Jesus

Christ has shown that the greatest gift ever given can be disguised

in this world in a piece of bread. By joining your body to His, He

can now transform human hearts, not by grand acts but by everyday

acts, by everyday people, practicing Everyday Stewardship.

The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus — On Friday, June 8th we

celebrate the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Christ offered Himself

for us. From His wounded side flowed Blood and Water, the

fountain of salvation for all, who believe. May His love dwell in our

hearts always.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary - On Saturday, June 9th we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed

Virgin Mary. This Feast, originally the Sacred Heart of Mary, is a devotional name used to refer to the interior life of Mary, her joys

and sorrows, her virtues and hidden perfections, and, above all, her virginal love for her God, her maternal love for her Son, Jesus, and

her compassionate love for all people.

Walter William Ratinski — first Polish American

from Rochester killed in France from WWI 100 years ago on June 6, 1918, Walter W. Ratinski was the

first Polish American killed in France from Rochester. He was

also the first of 2 Marines killed in WWI from Rochester.

On June 6, 2018 members of the community will place a

wreath at his grave in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 11 AM.

Walter is only 1 of 3 men buried in Rochester. The rest of the

over 20 are buried in France.

On Sunday, June 10, members of the Melvin Michalski Post

of the American Legion will dedicate his name tag to be placed

on the WWI Honor Roll plaque in church during their annual

memorial 9am mass at St. Stanislaus.

Mary’s ‘Helping Hands’…

Help Mothers in Poverty Feed Their Families: Month of May was dedicated to Mary, our

Blessed Mother. In honor and thanksgiving to our

Lady for her love and care for all, donate food to

the Sr. Regis Food Cupboard. Help the mothers in

need and living in poverty feed their families.

All foods are GREATLY appreciated. There are some

foods which are especially needed: macaroni and tomato sauce,

cans of mixed vegetables, beets, collard greens, all kinds of

canned fruit, applesauce, and for a special family treat cake

mixes and frosting. Even just donating ONE item each week

will fill a plate at the table of the poor and a mother will be

grateful- especially Mary!

Uroczystość Bożego Ciała W dniu dzisiejszm, podobnie jak w Wielki Czwartek,

wracamy myślą do tych chwil, gdy “Jezus wiedząc, że nadeszła

Jego godzina przejścia z tego świata do Ojca, umiłowawszy

swoich na świecie, do końca ich umiłował.” “A gdy zajął z nimi

“zagrody nasze widzieć przychodzi”. “Jezus przychodzi, troski

nam osłodzi… Padnijmy na kolana, uczcijmy niebios Pana…”

Święto Bożego Ciała zawdzięczamy błogosławionej

Juliannie z Cornillon (1193-1258), opatce z klasztoru augustianek

w Mont Cornillon koło Liége, która ujrzała jasną tarczę

z widoczną ciemną plamą. Pod wpływem tego widzenia

miejscowy biskup Robert zarządził świętowanie uroczystości

Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa dla diecezji Liége. Powiernik i spowiednik

Julianny, archidiakon Liége, Jacques Pantaleon z Troyes,

późniejszy papież Urban IV, bullą "Transiturus" w roku 1264

ustanowił to święto dla całego Kościoła.

Pilgrimage to the National Shrine

of St. Kateri Tekawitha- July 14th Sr. Bernade’s Traveling Group is going to the Our Lady of

Martyrs Shrine on Saturday, July 14th. This shrine is a place of

peace and reconciliation and is a tribute to 3 canonized martyred

Jesuit missionaries. It is also the birthplace of St. Kateri

Tekawitha. For information and registration forms, please contact

the rectory at 467-3068. The deadline to register is May 25th.
