It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all

taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath

learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

There are many who are teaching that unless we call Jesus by

His Hebrew name, we will not be saved; the Bible says that

salvation is obtained through faith in Jesus Christ! This doctrine of

salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone means that no one can,

through human effort, become "good enough" to merit eternal life.

Only the merits of the God-Man, Jesus Christ, applied to a sinner's

spiritually bankrupt account, will make that person worthy to stand

before a holy God in the final Judgment. Christ paid the penalty

for sin when He shed His blood on the Cross. Salvation is granted

to those who place their faith in Jesus Christ alone rather than in

their own merits. The Bible states that God has made this way of

salvation open to all who come to Christ in faith. Without the new

birth, it is impossible to do the works that truly please God. For

this reason, Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot

see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

WHO IS ZEUS? THE SECRED NAME PEOPLE ARE

CALLING JESUS A GREEK RELIGIOUS GOD

Gods and men" (Πατὴρ Θεῶν τὲ καὶ Ἀνθρώπων) [4]

who ruled the Olympians of Mount Olympus

as a father ruled the family. He is the god of sky and thunder in Greek mythology. His Roman

counterpart is Jupiter and his Etruscan counterpart is Tinia.1

Zeus was the child of Cronus and Rhea, and the youngest of his siblings. In most traditions he

was married to Hera, although, at the oracle of Dodona, his consort was Dione: according to the

Iliad, he is the father of Aphrodite by Dione.[2]

He is known for his erotic escapades. These

resulted in many godly and heroic offspring, including Athena, Apollo and Artemis, Hermes,

Persephone (by Demeter), Dionysus, Perseus, Heracles, Helen of Troy, Minos, and the Muses

(by Mnemosyne); by Hera, he is usually said to have fathered Ares, Hebe and Hephaestus.[5]

As Walter Burkert points out in his book, Greek Religion, "Even the gods who are not his natural

children address him as Father, and all the gods rise in his presence."[6]

For the Greeks, he was

the King of the Gods, who oversaw the universe. As Pausanias observed, "That Zeus is king in

heaven is a saying common to all men".[7]

In Hesiod's Theogony Zeus assigns the various gods

their roles. In the Homeric Hymns he is referred to as the chieftain of the gods.

His symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle, bull, and oak. In addition to his Indo-European

inheritance, the classical "cloud-gatherer" also derives certain iconographic traits from the

cultures of the Ancient Near East, such as the scepter. Zeus is frequently depicted by Greek

artists in one of two poses: standing, striding forward, with a thunderbolt leveled in his raised

right hand, or seated in majesty.

The claim that the form Yeshua is the original name for Jesus is a subject of debate. The English

name Jesus derives from the Late Latin name Iesus, which transliterates from the Koine Greek

name Ἰησοῦς Iēsoûs

In the Septuagint and other Greek-language Jewish texts, such as the writings of Josephus and

Philo of Alexandria, Ἰησοῦς Iēsoûs is the standard Koine Greek form used to translate both of

the Hebrew names: Yehoshua and Yeshua. (It was also used to translate the name Hoshea in one

of the three verses where this referred to Joshua the son of Nun--Deut. 32:44.)

During the second Temple period (beginning 538 B.C.E – 70 C.E.), Yeshua first became a

known form of the name Yehoshua. All occurrences of Yeshua in the Hebrew Bible are in I

Chron. 24:11, II Chron. 31:15, Ezra, and Nehemiah where it is transliterated into English as

Jeshua. Two of these men (Joshua the son of Nun and Joshua the High Priest) are mentioned in

other books of the Hebrew Bible where they are instead called Yehoshua [10]

(transliterated into

English as Joshua).

The earlier form Yehoshua did not disappear, however, and remained in use as well. In the post-

exilic books, Joshua the son of Nun is called both Yeshua bin-Nun (Nehemiah 8:17) and

Yehoshua (I Chronicles 7:27). The short form Yeshua was used for Jesus son of Sirach in

Hebrew fragments of the Book of Sirach. (Some concern remains over whether these fragments

faithfully represent the original Hebrew text or are instead a later translation back into Hebrew. [11]

) The earlier form Yehoshua saw revived usage from the Hasmonean period onwards,

although the name Yeshua is still found in letters from the time of the Bar Kokhba Revolt (132-

135 CE).

In the context of the documentary entitled The Lost Tomb of Jesus, archeologist Amos Kloner

stated that the name Yeshua was then a popular form of the name Yehoshua and was "one of the

common names in the time of the Second Temple".[12]

In discussing whether or not it was

remarkable to find a tomb with the name of Jesus (the particular ossuary in question bears the

inscription "Yehuda bar Yeshua"), he pointed out that the name had been found 71 times in

burial caves from that time period.[13]

In the Talmud, only one reference is made to Yeshua, in verbatim quotation from the Hebrew

Bible regarding Jeshua son of Jozadak (elsewhere called Joshua son of Josedech). The Talmud

does refer to several people named Yehoshua from before (e.g. Joshua ben Perachyah) and after

Jesus (e.g. Joshua ben Hananiah).

Clement of Alexandria and St. Cyril of Jerusalem considered the Greek form Iesous to be the

original, even going so far as to interpret it as a true Greek name and not simply a transliteration

of Hebrew.[2]

However, the New Testament describes Jesus as part of a Jewish milieu, reading the Hebrew

Bible and debating with Pharisees over interpretations of the Jewish legal tradition. The Gospels

record several Aramaic words or expressions spoken by him -- see Aramaic of Jesus. Moreover,

Eusebius reports that Jesus' student Matthew wrote a gospel "in the Hebrew language". (Every

time the word "Hebrew" is used to describe a word or phrase in the New Testament, the word or

phrase in actuality is what we today call Aramaic, a sister language to Hebrew.[14]

)

An argument in favor of the Hebrew form ישוע Yeshua is that the Old Syriac Bible (c. 200 CE)

and the Peshitta preserves this same spelling using the equivalent Aramaic letters ܫܘܥ (‗Yēšū) ܝto the Hebrew letters of Yeshua (Syriac does not use the 'furtive' pathach, so the 'a' vowel is not

used). This is still the spelling and pronunciation used in the West Syriac dialect, whereas East

Syriac has rendered the pronunciation of the same letters Išô‘. These texts were translated from

the Greek, but the name is not a simple transliteration of the Greek form because its "sh" sound

is not expressed in the Greek (although the Greek has a letter sounding like "s"), and ends with

the pharyngeal ‘ayin sound, also not found in Greek. It can be argued that the Aramaic speakers

who used this name had a continual connection to the Aramaic-speaking apostles and disciples of

Jesus, and thus were able to accurately preserve the actual name used for him.

Yeshua was used as the name for Jesus in the Yosippon; however, its usage here is a translation

back into the Hebrew Yeshua from the Greek. The Toledot Yeshu narratives combine the person

or persons designated Yeshu in the Talmud with Jesus, but relate that his original name was

Yehoshua.

The Arabic name for Jesus used by Christians, Yasū‘, derives from Yeshua. However, the Qur'an

and other Muslim sources instead use a traditional Islamic title ىسيع `Īsā, which can be

transliterated as י י ו Isu, of ,وسيع and is similar to the Arabic form (the second ya is silent) ע ע

‘Esaw, that is, the biblical patriarch Esau. Some Islamic scholars argue that it derives from the

East-Syriac pronunciation Isho‘.[15]

However, the Aramaic has the letter ‗Ayin only at the end,

whereas the Arabic has its equivalent letter, ‗Ayn, only at the beginning. This sort of transposing

of the Aramaic ‗Ayin is linguistically improbable. The Islamic scholar Ahmad Deedat, though,

held that the Quranic name is actually a cognate of Esau (based on the acoustic similarity).[16]

WHAT IS THE SACRED NAME MOVEMENT?

The sacred name movement is a religious movement which began in the late 1920s and

early 1930s. It grew out of division within of Herbert W. Armstrong, Garner Ted Armstrong,

Worldwide Church of God Seventh Day. The primary and therefore the namesake concern of

this movement is both the written and the oral use of the name Yahweh, or one of the other many

English forms of the Hebrew name of God. From this emphasis derives the name, Sacred Name

Movement. While the most popular English form of the Name comes to us as Yahweh (Yahshua

for Jesus), in Hebrew Bibles it is why and in early Hebrew manuscripts and engravings, why. By

most scholars, it is represented in English as YHWH. By some YHVH. For many sacred name

people, a secondary concern is the disparagement, in varying degrees, of the name of Jesus. This

disparagement extends to Christians and Christianity (sic) for refusing to use the Hebrew only

sacred names and for being full of pagan practices.

THE ORIGINAL PRONUNCIATION OF THE TETRAGRAMMATON CAN BE

DETERMINED WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY.

Many sacred name teachers believe and very vocally teach that unless one uses the Hebrew

name and only the Hebrew name for God, he or she will be eternally damned. It should be noted

that not all sacred name teachers are so dogmatic.

Although the Sacred Names of the Father-Yahweh, the Word or Son-Yahweh Elohim, and

the Holy Spirit-Yahshua are ineffable in Jewish orthodox tradition, they have been in existence

for ages and were never taken out of the original Hebrew texts.

Scholars have always known about the True Names and have included them in numerous

resource books such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, Bible notes, references, concordances,

lexicons, Bible almanacs, and history books. Many secret societies, such as the Masons,

Rosicrucian‘s, etc., have known these names for thousands of years.

Researchers have found several historical artifacts, including the Dead Sea Scrolls dated 100

years before the Messiah‘s birth, which featured the True Names. Joel Bjorling mentions many

in his book The Church of God, Seventh Day, A Bibliography, Chapter VII the Sacred Name

Movement, p. 197-198. This out-of-print book is the premier book on the Sacred Name

Movement.

Pagan leaders used the name Yahweh. The name was inscribed on the Moabite Stone in Jordan

about 830 B.C. exactly as it appeared in the Old Testament. The Lachish Letters, written

between 589-587 B.C. and discovered in 1935 in the ancient town of Lachish near Jerusalem,

frequently used the name Yahweh.

A Jewish community who wanted to rebuild the temple wrote the Elephantine Papers dated

495-400 B.C. They refer to Yah‘s temple. Yah is a shortened form of Yahweh. "After 70 CE

(Common Era) and the fall of Jerusalem, the liturgical use of ‗Yahweh‘ ceased, but the tradition

was perpetuated in rabbinical schools and was used by healers, exorcists, and magicians (p.

While this exclusive view is taken by most SN teachers, they themselves do not know the

original Hebrew pronunciation of God's name. They admit as much by the variety of names used

within the movement and by individuals repeatedly changing the name they hold sacred.

By some sacred name people, our Creator is called Yah Veh, Yahh, Yahweh, Iahueh, Yahwah,

and Yaohu. By others he is spoken of as Yahuwah, Yahuah, and more than a score of even less

likely names.

Jesus is called Yahshua by most sacred name folks. But, more and more are beginning to

use Yahushua. By some he is called Yasha, by some Yeshua, by some Yaohushua, by some

Y'shua, by some Iahushua, by others Yehoshua, YAHVAHSHUA, and even Yhwhhoshua.3

MISTRANSLITERATION BY SECRED NAME ADVOCATES

Dr. Daniel Botkin explains the Hebrew linguistics of the names "Yeshua" and "Yahshua"

and how "Yahshua" is a mistransliteration by Sacred Name advocates to fit an erroneous

interpretation of John 5:43 and how "Yeshua" is far more accurate. He also clearly establishes

the fact that the English name "Jesus" has absolutely no pagan connection and is simply a

derivation of "Yesous," the Greek transliteration of "Yeshua." Most important, Dr. Botkin

addresses that slander and criticism surrounding the name controversy in entirely non-

Scriptural and not glorifying to the Holy One of Israel.4

The Messiah‘s Hebrew name is usually transliterated as either Yeshua or Yahshua. Under

normal circumstances I would not bother to write an article about something as trivial as the

difference between the vowel sounds "e" and "ah." There is a need to address the subject, though,

because some people who use the Yahshua form say untrue things about those who use the

Yeshua form. The opponents of the Yeshua form claim that this pronunciation is the result of a

Jewish conspiracy to hide the Savior‘s true name. Those who call the Messiah Yeshua are

accused of perpetuating a Jewish conspiracy and "denying His name" or "degrading Him" by

their use of the Yeshua form. If you have never read or heard these outlandish accusations, you

probably will eventually. From time to time I receive personal letters to this effect.

The proponents of the Yahshua form claim that the Messiah‘s name was the same as

Joshua‘s, written [vwhy or [wvwhy (Strong‘s #3091). The only problem is that neither of these

Hebrew spellings of Joshua‘s name can possibly be pronounced "Yahshua." The third letter in

Joshua‘s name (reading from right to left) is the letter vav (w) and a vav cannot be silent. The

letter vav must be pronounced as either a "v" or an "o" or an "u." (In the case of Joshua, it takes

an "o" sound, giving us "Ye-ho-SHU-a." Strong‘s confirms this pronunciation.) For a name to be

pronounced "Yahshua," it would have to be spelled [wv--hy, and no such name exists anywhere

in the Hebrew Bible. You don‘t have to just take my word for it, though. Dr. Danny Ben-Gigi

says of the Yahshua form that "there is no such name in Hebrew" and that "people invented it to

fit their theology."[1] Dr. Ben-Gigi is an Israeli and the former head of Hebrew programs at

Arizona State University. He is the author of the book First Steps in Hebrew Prayers, and he

designed and produced the "Living Israeli Hebrew" language-learning course. Dr. David Bivin, a

Christian, says that the Yahshua form "is rooted in a misunderstanding."[2] Dr. Bivin is a

renowned Hebrew scholar and teacher and author of Fluent Biblical Hebrew.

I do not know of a single individual that knows Hebrew well enough to actually read it and

understand it and converse in it who uses the Yahshua form.

Please do not misunderstand. A person does not need to know Hebrew and Greek

linguistics in order to be spiritual. However, if a person is going to take it upon himself to

instruct others about subjects of a linguistic and Hebraic nature, he should know the Hebrew

language and he should know some basics about linguistics. This is especially true if he is going

to use his Hebrew-based linguistic teachings to accuse his brethren of being part of a "Jewish

conspiracy" to "deny the true name of the Messiah."

To people who actually know Hebrew – people like Dr. Ben-Gigi, Dr. Bivin, and others –

it is very obvious that those who insist on the Yahshua form know very little about the Hebrew

language. The only Hebrew that most of these self-appointed scholars know is what they can

learn from a Strong‘s Concordance.[3] Strong‘s is a great study tool and a fine place to start, but

it is not a means by which a person can learn the Hebrew language.

The English form Jesus is derived from the New Testament Greek name Ihsouß,

pronounced "Yesous." According to Strong‘s, Yesous (Strong‘s #2424) is "of Hebrew origin"

and can be traced back to Joshua‘s Hebrew name, Yehoshua (#3091, [wvwhy). But how do we

get the Greek Yesous from the Hebrew Yehoshua? Someone armed with nothing more than a

Strong‘s Concordance may have difficulty answering that question. Someone who reads the

Bible in Hebrew, though, knows that the name Joshua sometimes appears in its shortened form,

Yeshua ([wvy) in Neh. 8:17 it is apparent even in English: "Jeshua the son of Nun." (The letter J

was pronounced like a Y in Old English.) Strong does not tell the reader that the Greek Yesous is

actually transliterated from this shortened Hebrew form, Yeshua, and not directly from the longer

form Yehoshua. The process from "Yehoshua" to "Jesus" looks like this:

Hebrew Yeshua à Greek Yesous

Greek Yesous à English Jesus

There is no "sh" sound in Greek, which accounts for the middle "s" sound in Yesous. The

"s" at the end of the Greek name is a grammatical necessity, to make the word declinable.

In Neh. 8:17, Joshua‘s name is 100% identical to the name which today‘s Messianic Jews

use for the Messiah, Yeshua ([wvy). Strong‘s confirms this pronunciation, and tells us that there

were ten Israelites in the Bible who bore this name (#3442). Therefore the shortening of

Yehoshua to Yeshua predates the Christian era by at least 500 years, and cannot be the result of a

Jewish conspiracy to hide the Savior‘s true name.[4] To claim that the shortened form Yeshua is

the result of a Jewish conspiracy is to ignore the facts of history and the facts of the Hebrew

Scriptures. The form Yeshua existed for several hundred years before the Messiah was even

born. Even in the pre-Christian Septuagint, we see the Greek form IHSOUS (Yesous) in the title

of the Book of Joshua. (This is also proof that Yesous has no connection to the pagan god

Zeus.)

So where did the transliteration Yahshua come from? This form of the name can be traced

back to the beginnings of the Sacred Name movement, a movement that grew out of the Church

of God, 7th Day, in the late 1930s. I have in my files an article entitled, "A Brief History of the

Name Movement in America" by L.D. Snow, a Sacred Name believer.[5] According to this

article, "John Briggs and Paul Penn were the FIRST to pronounce and use the name Yahshua"

(emphasis Snow‘s). This was in 1936 and in 1937, the article states. No information is given

about how Briggs and Penn came up with this (mis)translation.

Later Sacred Name literature appeals to the Messiah‘s statement in John 5:43 as "proof" of

the Yahshua form: "I am come in My Father‘s name," He said. In the minds of Sacred Name

believers, this means that "Yah," a shortened form of Yahweh, must appear in the name of the

Son. However, the Messiah did not say "My name contains My Father‘s name" or "My Father‘s

name must appear inside My name" or any such statement. He said absolutely nothing here about

His own name. The only "name" mentioned here was the Father‘s name. He said, "I am come in

My Father‘s name," which simply means that He was coming by His Father‘s authority, on His

Father‘s behalf. If we take Yeshua‘s statement "I am come in My Father‘s name" to mean that

His own name must contain the Father‘s name, then we ourselves cannot do anything "in the

Father‘s name" unless our own personal name happens to contain the syllable "Yah." The folly of

this interpretation is also evident if the same line of reasoning is applied to the rest of Yeshua‘s

statement: "…if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." If the logic of Sacred

Name believers is applied to this half of the verse, it would be saying "a person‘s name must

contain his own name," which is meaningless. If, on the other hand, "in his own name" means

"by his own authority," then the statement makes sense.

Why is the Yahshua form used by no one but Sacred Name believers and people who have

been influenced by Sacred Name believers? Probably because no such name exists in the Hebrew

Bible and, to my knowledge, no such name exists in any extra-Biblical Hebrew literature. It

appears that Dr. Ben-Gigi is correct when he says that people invented the name Yahshua to fit

their theology.

I have read a lot of literature from writers who seek to expose the "errors" of those who

refer to the Messiah as Yeshua. The only thing these writers actually expose is their lack of

knowledge. I could give several examples of statements which are absolutely ridiculous. I do not

have the space in this publication to give all the examples I have in my files, and I do not wish to

embarrass sincere people for their honest but misguided efforts. There are some examples,

though, that grossly misrepresent the facts, and some of these examples need to be exposed.

In one popular booklet published by a well-known Sacred Name organization, the

anonymous author makes this statement: "Most reference works agree with Kittel’s Theological

Dictionary of the NT statement on page 284, which states that the name Yahoshua was shortened

after the exile to the short form Yahshua." This statement makes it sound like Kittel uses the

forms Yahoshua and Yahshua. I went to the library and looked at this page in Kittel‘s. The words

Yahoshua and Yahshua do not appear even one time on this page. This can be verified by going

to a library and looking up this page. (It‘s in Volume III.) If your library does not have Kittel‘s, I

can send a photocopy of this page to any skeptics.

This same Sacred Name organization which misrepresents Kittel‘s also misrepresented a

Jewish author. In a magazine article written by this organization‘s main leader, a lengthy

segment is quoted from a book published by KTAV, a Jewish publishing house. When copying

this quotation for his magazine article, this Sacred Name author freely used Yahshua, making it

appear tat the Jewish author used that transliteration in his book. I got the book from the library,

though, and discovered that "Yahshua" did not appear in the book. I wrote to this Sacred Name

leader asking for an explanation. I told him that unless he had some other explanation, I could

conclude one of three things: either he deliberately misrepresented the facts, or he did it

accidentally, or the book I got from the library was a different version from his, in which case I

would owe him an apology. My letter was sent September 1, 1997, and I am still waiting for a

reply. I will not embarrass this man by mentioning his name or the name of his ministry. It is not

my intention to embarrass anyone.

I am not writing this article to persuade people to quit saying "Yahshua." If people want to

continue using a mistransliteration that was erroneously contrived by early Sacred Name

pioneers who didn‘t know Hebrew, it really doesn‘t matter to me. I don‘t that the substitution of

an "ah" sound for an "e" sound matters much to the Lord, either. What does matter, though, is the

spreading of false accusations against Messianic Jews and others who called the Messiah

"Yeshua."

Paul warned Timothy about "doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh

envy, strife, railings, evil surmising [suspicions]" (1 Tim. 6:4). Unfortunately, this is an accurate

description of what goes on among many people in the Sacred Name movement. Personally, I

would rather fellowship with non-contentious people who call the Messiah "Jesus" than with

contentious people who insist that everyone call Him "Yahshua."

wants to disprove this ludicrous assertion can simply look at Joshua‘s name in a Hebrew Bible

and see that Strong used the very same vowel marks that are used in the Bible.

THE BIBLE, AS WE HAVE IT, IS A CORRUPTED DOCUMENT AND SACRED NAME

TEACHERS ARE ABLE TO REPAIR IT.

A Bible revision made by any religious group is certainly one of the more interesting

aspects for study of the Sacred Name movement.

Mormons have their Holy Scriptures, Inspired Version made by Joseph Smith. Jehovah's

Witnesses have The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, a Watch Tower publication.

That people within the sacred name movement, in spite of its small size, have made nearly

a dozen Bible revisions is cause for an especially deep concern. Perhaps the concern is more an

inverse awe.

What mental processes have their leaders gone through as they came to the point of

willingness to make their own bible? Is their teaching sufficiently different that it cannot be

found in the more conventional Bible translations?

Have they concluded that they are already isolated from other groups to such an extent

that the stigma attached to revising their own Bible will not isolate them further? Is the purpose

perhaps to exacerbate such isolation? How have they come to believe that God has singled them

out to give to the world the corrected Word of God?

THE NEW TESTAMENT WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN IN HEBREW

One of the most absurd of the claims made by sacred name movement teachers is that the

complete New Testament was originally written in the Hebrew language. Nothing could be

further from the truth.

This claim is made without as much as a shred of empirical evidence. Even so, such an

untenable position is thrust upon these teachers as necessary to support the primary doctrine of

the movement.

In truth, the New Testament was originally written in Greek. Paul, Peter, James, John,

Luke, and others wrote the name of our Savior in a language not Hebrew. If these men were

permitted, inspired even, to write the name in Greek, we are also permitted to write and speak the

name in our native language.

The historical fact is this: the New Testament was written in Greek. Therefore, the

doctrine of the Hebrew only sacred name is made invalid. This conclusion will be reached by

even the most casual thinker who has the facts at his or her disposal.

Therefore, sacred name movement teachers are compelled to fight a futile battle against an

obviously original Greek New Testament.

SECRED NAME CLAIMS JESUS SPOKE THE NAME YAHWEH

One of the keystone doctrines of the sacred name movement is that our Savior preached

and taught the name Yahweh to the Jewish people of his time. One or another sacred name group

may say Jesus taught one or another of the numerous possible English transliterations of hwhy.

Numbers of sacred name people believe the primary mission of Jesus was bringing the name

Yahweh to the world.

Etymology

Most scholars accept that YHWH is made up of Y, meaning "he", plus a form of HWY, the root

of a group of words connected with "being" and "becoming".[20]

Frank Moore Cross has

advanced the hypothesis that the name Yahweh is an abbreviation, in which the theophoric

element el has been dropped, thus giving yhwh-'l or "El-Yahweh",[21]

which would parallel "El-

Shaddai" and "El-Elyon". El was the chief god of the Canaanite pantheon, and El-YHWH is still

attested as an epithet, 'El, who shows himself' in a few places in the Old Testament (in psalm

50:1, for example). It would have originated as a description of El's appearance and blessing: "El

who shows himself".[22]

The author of Exodus 3:13–15 gives a similar explanation: God, asked

by Moses for his name, provides three names: "I Am That I Am", followed by "I Am," and

finally "YHWH":

As the origins of Yahweh seem to lie to the southeast of Israel, in Edom and Midian or

even further south, an alternative explanation looks for its etymology in South Semitic

languages like Arabic rather than in Hebrew, which is West Semitic. One of the

meanings of HWY in Arabic is connected with falling or causing to fall, leading to an

interpretation of Yahweh as a storm god whose name means "He who causes to fall"

(meaning rain, lightning, and his enemies) or "He storms". This also helps explain

Yahweh's attributes as a storm god (he comes to rescue Israel surrounded by darkness

and thick clouds, and the earth trembles, the clouds drop water, and the mountains quake

at his appearance), and the way he appropriates attributes from the rival storm god

Baal.[23]

Divine names, however, are often much older than the religions using them, and ideas

about gods change over time; despite Exodus 14 it is fairly improbable that the authors of

the bible were aware of the meaning of the name Yahweh, and even an accurate

knowledge of the origins of the name will not help understand the significance Yahweh

held for them.[24]

Yahweh ( /ˈjɑːweɪ/ or /ˈjɑːhweɪ/; Hebrew: יהוה ) is the name of God in the Bible.[1]

Aside

from the mention in Moabite on King Mesha's stele referring to Israel's God, "Yahweh" occurs

once either as a place name or a deity in a 15th century BCE Egyptian record of the land of the

Shasu.[2]

Friedrich Delitzsch (1903) proposed that the name was related to the name ending -

yahu found in some Ugaritic personal names, though no further evidence has been found.[3]

The word Yahweh is a modern scholarly convention for the Hebrew יהוה, transcribed into

Roman letters as YHWH and known as the Tetragrammaton, for which the original

pronunciation is unknown. The most likely meaning of the name may be ―He Brings into

Existence Whatever Exists", but there are many theories and none is regarded as conclusive.[4]

It is supposed that the Messiah spoke this name often to the Jewish people, taught the

importance and pronunciation of this name to his followers, said it and read it when he referred

to the Old Testament, and used this name when he addressed God. Sacred name teachers boldly

assert that Jesus was arrested, tried, and killed because he said the name Yahweh.6

Are these claims true? Did Jesus ever once utter the name Yahweh? Sacred name teachers

gamely admit that according to what is written in the Holy Scriptures he did not. However, they

believe the Scriptures are wrong.

Many Christians understand that cult religions such as the Sacred Name Movement, Jehovah

Witness, Mormonism, Christian Scientist, Third Wave, Jesus Only, Manifested Sons of God,

body of redeemed people called out from the world to represent God and His authority and to

exercise government. Individually and corporately we are accountable to Jesus, the head of the

Church. The Church is failing.

A projection of what happens when the Church fully fails is recorded in 2 Thessalonians

2:3: “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come [the return of Jesus]

unless the falling away comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of

perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God….” Paul writes to the

believers in Thessalonica to correct their thinking. Paul clarifies that the day of the return of the

Lord Jesus will not come until there has been a falling away.

Interestingly, the Greek word for “falling away” is exactly the word which gives us the

English word apostasy. It‘s only used twice in the New Testament in this passage and in Acts

21:21 where the leaders of the Church in Jerusalem tell Paul that he‘s been accused of teaching

apostasy from the Law of Moses. It specifically means a turning away from a revealed truth. Paul

is saying that before the Antichrist, the man of lawlessness, is revealed, there has to be an

apostasy in the Church. There will be a moving away from sound doctrine. (1 Timothy 1:10)

Why? Because the true Church is the appointed authority and barrier to the revelation and the

consummation of evil; Satan knows this and knows the Bible better than most of us. Satan knows

that he cannot manifest the Antichrist until the Church is weakened and moved out of the way.

So there has to be an apostasy, a falling away, in the Church because the restraining

influence of the Church has to be cancelled before the Antichrist can be revealed. Do you see

what that means? Can you see the responsibility it places upon us? We are the restraining

influence.

THE FALLING AWAY IN THIS GENERATION

In the generation it is clearly stated, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-“LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU

BY ANY MEANS: FOR THAT DAY SHALL NOT COME, EXCEPT THERE COME A

FALLING AWAY FIRST, AND THAT MAN OF SIN BE REVEALED, THE SON OF

PERDITION.”

Other words, the coming of the Antichrist shall not take place, except there first come an

apostasy or a falling away. Indeed, the falling away has come, and there are few people left

standing, but it is not perceived. There is much talk about a revival, but almost no talk about the

falling that is happening in the Laodicea church of this generation. The next revival will be

during the Tribulation. From now to the Rapture, times will get worse and worse; this is the age

when people will not endure (or put up with) sound doctrine, because it does not suit their own

desires. More and more people will continue to fall away, and what little sound doctrine that still

exists will not be endured.

How diabolically clever the Adversary is! Blessings are exactly what most people in this

Laodicea church age are looking for, totally unaware of their wretched condition. They have

been greatly deceived by the Adversary into focusing their attention on looking for blessings,

instead of warning others to be on guard against the falling away.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:7 Paul states that ―the mystery of lawlessness is already at work;

only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.” I know I am entering

into speculative prophecy, but there are two ways of interpreting the phrase, ―He who now

restrains.‖ It can be the Holy Spirit or it can be the Church. Probably it‘s both the Holy Spirit and

the Church.

The final consummation of evil in this age will not come until the Church, by apostasy,

opens the way. I would say that the apostasy is just about consummated in America today in the

top levels of Church and state. Apostasy is ruling via lawless, immoral, blasphemous, Bible-

truth- denying, Christ-denying, God-provoking speech, policy, and action. (1Jn. 4:3),‖And every

spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that

spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in

the world.”

I don‘t think things need to go much further before the apostasy is complete. In the

meanwhile, what is our responsibility? To restrain the forces of evil! We are the governmental

assembly. Through preaching the gospel, loving personal witness, intercessory prayer, prophetic

witness, and persuasion in the public square, we are the ambassadorial administrators of Christ‘s

authority—we are His salt, light, and leaven to restrain corruption and decay until the appointed

time.‖ 1

MARK THEM WHICH CAUSE DIVISION

“Mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye

have learned; and avoid them.” Romans 16:17.

Notice the cause for division and offences are caused be the false teacher brings unsound

doctrines and the Bible tells us to avoid them. You cannot find one scripture that accuses the

person that uncovers and exposes false prophets as be divisive, slanderous and gossipy.

As a matter of scriptural fact, the Word of God tells us to identify and mark “them

which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine” of the LORD, is to be a

regular part of the Christian life. In an hour when the proliferation of false teaching is

mutating at an increasingly exponential rate, those who love the LORD must examine and

test everything against the final authority of the recorded oracles of God (Acts 17:11). The

following warning enlightens us to understand this:7

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the

tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Colossians 2:8

Would the all-knowing God have put such a warning in His Word if being spoiled

were not possible? People can be spoiled (derailed, made shipwreck of) through false

doctrines and philosophies, which, without fail, elevate men and demote Christ (Col. 2:8-9;

18-19).

These derailment elements are designed to steal glory from Christ. If we love Him, we

are to “hear God‟s words” and “hate every false way.” (Jn. 8:47; Ps. 119:104, 128; Amos

5:14-15)

Let‘s break this extremely important Bible text down:

“Mark them” - Beloved, we are mandated to simply and truly hearken to this divinely given

instruction, to personally own this truth and walk in it, to be possessed with the protective

love of our holy and “Great Shepherd of the sheep.” (Heb. 13:20) One of the ways the

―Great Shepherd‖ protects the sheep of His pasture, is by His other sheep, scoping out and

marking the wolves whose venomous lies would devour.

The clear instruction of the Word is to “mark them which cause divisions and offences

contrary to the doctrine.” All human sediments, reasoning‘s, and excuses must be

crucified.

“Mark them” – the Greek word here for “mark” is skopeo, which means ―to scope out; to

take aim at, consider, watch.”

Believers are here mandated to wisely scope out closely, observe and scrutinize all teachings

and spiritual leaders under the lamp of God‘s holy Word. We are to closely discern between

true and false doctrines and leaders and sound the alarm on that which is found to be

inconsistent with holy Writ. This is to be done especially when dealing with foundational,

essential truths (which are a salvation issue).8

Is It Negative and Unbiblical to Name False Teachers?

Naming names

Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy names numerous people by name.

2 Timothy 1:15: Phygellus and Hermogenes

2 Timothy 2:17: Mymenaeus and Philetus

2 Timothy 3:8: Jannes and Jambress

2 Timothy 4:10: Demas

2 Timothy 4:14: Alexander the coppersmith

In III John 9, John named Diotrephes.

Jesus called out the false teachers in Matthew 23 and Luke 11.

II Timothy 4:3 tells us that many Christians will only want to hear what makes them feel

good and appeals to their flesh; "For the time will come when they will not endure sound

doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears."

The problem isn't that you named false teachers; it's that many Christians believe

false teachers are brothers and sisters no matter what they teach! If these teachers impart

unscriptural knowledge and other biblically knowledgeable teacher write corrections, the ones

who correct are then called slanders and gossipers by the person that is spread unscriptural false

messages. If the true Believers do not speak out on false teaching, who will? That is the mission

Matthew 7:13-23 “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad

that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. 14 ―For the gate is small, and

the way is narrow that leads to life and few are those who find it. 15 “Beware of the false

prophets, who come to you in sheep‟s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 “You

will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from

thistles, are they? 17 ―Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

18 ―A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 “Every tree

that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 ―So then, you will

know them by their fruits. 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, „Lord, Lord,‟ will enter the

kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22 ―Many will

say to Me on that day, „Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name

cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?‟ 23 “And then I will declare

to them, „I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.‟‖

False prophets are particularly dangerous because they appear to be genuine. They

seemingly have the credentials of authority. What are these credentials? Jesus calls them ‗sheep‘s

clothing‘ (verse 15).

He said that the false prophets were like wolves in sheep‟s clothing. When the shepherd

watched his flocks upon the hillside, his garment was a sheepskin, worn with the skin outside

and the fleece inside. But a man might wear a shepherd‘s dress and still not be a shepherd. The

prophets had acquired a conventional dress. Elijah had a mantle (1 Kings 19:13, 19), and that

mantle had been a hairy cloak (2 Kings 1:8). That sheepskin mantle had become the uniform of

the prophets, just as the Greek philosophers had worn the philosopher‘s robe. It was by that

mantle that the prophet could be distinguished from other men. But sometimes that garb was

worn by those who had no right to wear it, for Zechariah in his picture of the great days to come

says, ―Neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive‘‘ (Zechariah 13:4). There were those

who wore a prophet‘s cloak, but who lived anything but a prophet‘s life.‖ 9

The outward forms would incline one to believe these false prophets to be reliable guides.

They may wear a distinctive garb which sets them apart as leaders. They may have the title

‗reverend.‘ They may be men who hold positions of religious leadership. They may well have

graduated from a divinity school. Indeed, they might even be seminary professors. Judging on

the basis of external indications we might wrongly assume them to be reliable guides, but we

must not evaluate them on such external evidence.

These false prophets can be detected by their fruits. Judging by external forms is risky;

judging (if you prefer, discerning) on the basis of fruits is absolutely necessary and part of our

responsibility. ‗The proof of the root is in the fruit.‘ Good trees produce good fruit, and rotten

trees, bad fruit. A dependable assessment of those who would be guides is that of their fruits

(Matthew7:20). But, what are these fruits? One must be very careful here, for false prophets

are not without religious activities. A false prophet is often accompanied by deceptive signs and

by seeming wonders. Some of these are suggested in Matthew 7:22: ―Many will say to Me on

that day, ‗Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in Your name, and in your name cast out demons, and

in Your name perform many miracles?‖‘

We should expect false prophets to engage in acts of kindness and charity. We should

expect them to perform deeds which suggest miraculous power. And we should expect that these

deeds be performed under the pretext of being done by God‘s power and to His glory.

―For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of

Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not

surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness; whose end shall

be according to their deeds‖ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15).

We should expect false prophets to be accompanied by religious works, often unusual

and spectacular, done ostensibly in the name of God. Satan willingly gives the glory to God

in such cases, so long as ultimately he is able to deceive people and cause them to their

allegiance and obedience him.

But are these religious activities the fruits of which the Master spoke? If not, what are

they? The Scriptures frequently describe the fruits of the false prophets, so that we are left with

little doubt as to what we should look for. I believe we can see the fruits of the false prophets

falling into three categories.

(1) The first category of the fruits of the false prophet is their doctrine. False prophets

speak from their own delusion, not by divine command (Jeremiah 23:16, 21, 25; Ezekiel 13:2).

They do not proclaim or defend God‘s word, but deny it (Jeremiah 23:17). In particular they

deny unpleasant subjects such as impending judgment (Jeremiah 6:14; 28:17; Ezekiel 13:10).

They offer temporary and partial relief to pressing problems (Jeremiah 8:11). Mainly, they tell

people precisely what they want to hear (1 Kings 22:8, 13; 2 Timothy 4:3-4). Concerning the

way of salvation they deny the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ and they reject the work of Christ

on the cross (2 Peter 2:1; 1 John 4:2-3).

(2) The second category of the fruits of the false prophets is the effect of their

teaching in the lives of men. Invariably it leads to a rejection of God‘s word, a rejection of

biblical authority, a division among the saints (Jeremiah 23:2,14) and a life of sensuality (2 Peter

2:2). They attempt to lead men away from the truth of the gospel (Acts 13:8), and to deceive

genuine Christians with false doctrine (Mark 13:22). This is also evident from the Pastoral

Epistles (1 and 2Timothy and Titus) where Paul speaks of the need of sound or healthy doctrine

(1 Tim. 4:6; 2 Tim. 4:3; Tit. 1:9; 2:1).

(3) Finally, there is the fruit of the false teachers as evidenced in their own moral

character. They are easily distinguished by their pride (2 Peter 2:10), their greed (Jeremiah 8:10;

Titus 1:11; 2 Peter 2:3, 14) and immorality (Jeremiah 23:11, 14; 2 Peter 2:14). They are men

dominated by the flesh (2 Peter 2:10, 12; 3:3). They prey upon the weak and the guilt-ridden (2

Timothy 3:6-7; 2 Peter 2:14, 13). While they profess to know God, by their deeds they deny Him

(Matthew 7:22-23; 2 Timothy 3:5; Titus 1:16). While they delight in authority, they refuse to

submit to it (2 Peter 2:10).

―A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?‖ (Luke

6:39).

There are many godless guides who would lead us to the wide gate and the way which

leads to destruction. These false teachers are not only blind themselves, but they lead others to

destruction with them. It is the Lord Who will pronounce the final verdict and Who will sentence

the false prophets to everlasting torment.

Their fate has been set since the beginning of time; God knew them and warned His

people to stay clear of them. Jude 10-13, But these speak evil of those things which they know

not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. 11

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam

for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12 These are spots in your feasts of charity,

when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried

about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13

Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the

blackness of darkness forever.

False teachers among more than half of the sacred name movement assemblies is that

Greek word for Jesus means Son of Zeus or is connected with or derived from the Word

Zeus; a number of variations concerning this antichrist teaching, a favorite being that the name

Jesus Means Healing Zeus.

believe it simply has to be true.

The teaching is purely and simply a lie, a fabrication. This falsehood began in the

teachings of some of the pioneer preachers of the movement. It continues among preachers and

teachers who are movers and shakers in the movement today

This doctrine and its continued propagation epitomize other false teachings of the sacred

name movement. Even after it has time and again been proven false, many still cling to it.

Before the celestial "shock and awe" judgments of the Tribulation are unleashed,

God's Word describes a time characterized by false teaching and teachers SO strong, that

it would even sweep away even true believers (Mark 13:22) if they were not sealed by the

Spirit of God. Mark 13:22 -- For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs

and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

In Matthew 24 Jesus describes the world before He returns in His Second Coming, as a

world where the love of most has grown cold because of false teachers (Matthew 24:11-12); and

where "the Faith" will be nearly extinct (Luke 18:8).

The end of the church age is shown in Revelation 3 to be like the church at Laodicea where

truth is light, self-centeredness is heavy; materialism and personal agendas run deep, and true

Biblical spirituality is shallow.

Today we see such a sweeping array of deceptive false teachers as just the foretaste of this

Never before has wrong teaching and beliefs about God been more widely proclaimed than

in our day. In a continuous, 24/7 river erroneous teaching about God flows around the world: on

radio, TV, cable, webcasts, podcasts, simulcasts, books, magazines, and everywhere in

between—our world is increasingly filled with lies about God. And to this growing cauldron of

darkness and lies comes the triumphant truth that—

The New Testament tells us that evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse,

deceiving and being deceived. It tells us real Christians are humble, meek, courageous, forgiving,

loving, and gracious, long suffering, kind, not judgmental and full of faith and power. It tells us

that apostate Christians are lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, disobedient

to parents, unthankful, unholy, fearful, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control,

brutal, traitors, headstrong, haughty, and sensual and have a form of godliness but deny its

power. They are always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. They

resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no

further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

Cathy Wactlar of the Inspiration Networks writes about ―Apostasy‖ and states:

John 12:35—―Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk

while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth

not whither he goeth. Jesus told Belivers that ―His light will shine out for you just a little while

longer. Walk in it while you can, so you will not stumble when the darkness falls. If you walk in

the darkness, you cannot see where you are going.‖ While you are in the light, beware—lest

darkness come upon you.

John 12:35--Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while

ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not

whither he goeth. He warns Christians that if you are living in the light but hates a Christian that

person will still be in the darkness that will blind the eyes. The world is under condemnation of

God because the people rejected Jesus but they chose darkness (Satan) rather choosing the Father

because their actions were evil. They could not understand the light (Jesus), John 1:5. The entire

world has willingly been captured by darkness and do not understand so they stumble. This

generation forsakes Jesus and leaves the pathways of righteousness to walk in darkness Psalms

3:13; this is yet, an0ther example showing a person can leave Jesus to walk in the ways of Satan.

Matthew 6:23 says that if your eye is evil the entire body will be full of darkness and the absence

of light will be great.

Ephesians 3:16-21

The other fact is that anybody can have their views and beliefs on any subject but they

don't have the right to impose it on me or judge me to be evil and wicked and demonic just

because my views and beliefs are different from theirs! That is the crux of the matter of personal

freedoms given by God! Fundamentalists preachers like to make cookie cutters out of themselves

and create millions of people just like them. But Jesus Christ never destroyed the individual‘s

personality and character nor made each of his disciple‘s exact clones of himself?

My prayer is that the Lord would dethrone all the pastors of this nation and across the

world. It is time for the man of God to be a man of God. The Lord has had His fill of ministers

who have taken His place.

―Come down, come down, and come down! The clergy of this nation is apostate. They

demand respect. Respect is not to be demanded, it is given. It is given to men and women who

will come down - humble themselves. Become small so that He can become big. If these words

anger rather than break you, you are on a throne.‖ ―Come down,‖ says the Lord. ―Do not sit in

the place of authority. Do not demand to sit at my right or my left, unless you can drink of the

cup that I drank from.‖

―Lay down the staff. You were not to use the staff to beat the sheep. The staff is to rescue.

Lay down the staff if you don‘t know how to use it. I will anoint it and when you pick it up, it

will be transformed.‖ ―The staff is in you. It is no longer an external thing. You know what I

mean! Lay it down. Be obedient. Be submissive to me. Lay it down and I will raise it up!

James clearly understood, even among preachers and evangelists, the difference in walking

in the flesh and in the spirit, when he wrote:

This wisdom doesn‘t descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. For where

envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full

of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of

righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 2:3:15-18)

REBELLIOUS PREACHERS AND TEACHERS

We have in North America many rebellious preachers and teachers, who call themselves

Christians and say that they speak the bible, on behalf of God in His anointing and power, but

their actual personal behavior and deeds are so different from the honesty and integrity of real

Men and Women of God in the Scriptures which tells us:

―How the faithful city has become a harlot! It was full of justice; righteousness lodged in

it, but now murderers.‖ (Isaiah 1:21)

―For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are

His pleasant plant. He looked for justice, but beholds oppression; for righteousness, but behold a

cry for help.‖ (Isaiah 5:7)

―To rob the needy of justice, and to take what is right from the poor of My people, that

widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless.‖ (Isaiah 10:2)

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.

The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature

like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three

years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its

fruit.

Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let

him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and

cover a multitude of sins. (James 5:16-20)

When we examine the conflicts in the Bible between Abraham and Lot, Joseph and His

Brothers, Daniel and the Princes, and Mordecai and Haman, we see that the winners were men of

integrity, persistence, honesty and who saw Him that was invisible and put Him first over all.

Abraham gave Lot his choice because he knew that his real riches were God Himself. Lot

chose what his senses saw desired the fertile valley of Sodom and Gomorrah and Abraham got

the desert. In the end, Lot lost everything and Abraham gained everything.

Joseph in spite of jealousy and sibling rivalry told his brothers his dreams and persistently

sought God and God caused everything that Joseph did to prosper in spite of unbelievable

difficulties and circumstance. Ultimately, Joseph became the number two ruler in Egypt next to

Pharaoh and Joseph‘s jealous brothers had to bow down to him. Joseph told them that they meant

it for evil but God meant it for everyone‘s ultimate good.

Also, Daniel because of jealousy among his peers for his wisdom and friendship with the

King, was thrown into a den of lions which didn‘t hurt Daniel but eventually the same lions

devoured and destroyed his accusers.

Wicked and selfish Haman despised one of God‘s people Mordecai who helped Esther

become a queen and she saved the King‘s life. No matter what happened Mordecai because of

his personal ambition hated Mordecai and planned to destroy the children of Israel God‘s chosen

people.

In the end, Haman was hanged and Mordecai took all his possessions and wealth and

became a very important person. These real stories tell us that there is justice and victory here on

earth and not just in heaven.

Just like James pointed out in his writings, it wasn‘t a conflict of demons versus flesh, it

was a conflict of people of the flesh versus people of faith who are also the people of the Spirit.

However, the real people of the Spirit put their trust into the One who created and upholds the

whole universe and they obtained victories over their cowardly fearful enemies.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2

Timothy 1:7

"He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

"But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters,

and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the

second death." Revelations 21:7-8

LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.

Many are they who say of me, "There is no help for him in God." Selah But You, O LORD, are a

shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. Psalm 3:1-3

I've used the name of Jesus which is His name shown in the New Testament and have

seen thousands of miracles over the years in the name of Jesus... I've never seen any

miracles performed in these various Hebrew names that everyone seems to have become

experts saying but have not Hebrew or Greek training... However, I have seen this Hebrew

name creating a lot of strife and rejection over the true name of Jesus. One thing for sure,

if the devil can steal the name of Jesus from them, they are left with no power. If God the

Father named His son's name Jesus, then why should we change it to something that some

man or group says without scriptural understanding. .Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring

forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their

sins.

Matthew 1:25 ---And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and

he called his name JESUS.

Philippians 2-9, 10-- Therefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a

name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of

things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every

tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Apostle Paul (the Sacred Movement rejects his writings shown in the Bible) warned

Timothy about "doting about questions and strife of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings,

evil surmising [suspicions]" (1 Tim. 6:4). Unfortunately, this is an accurate description of what

goes on among many people in the Sacred Name Movement. Personally, I would rather

fellowship with non-contentious people who call the Messiah "Jesus" than with contentious

people who insist that everyone call Him "Yahshua, Yeshua, Yahoshua and They, the Sacred

Name Movement, Weave the Spider's Web .

See the spider's web, and behold in it a most suggestive picture of the hypocrite's religion.

It is meant to catch his prey: the spider fattens himself on flies, and the Pharisee has his reward.

Foolish persons are easily entrapped by the loud professions of pretenders, and even the more

judicious cannot always escape. Philip baptized Simon Magus, whose guileful declaration of

faith was so soon exploded by the stern rebuke of Peter. Custom, reputation, praise,

advancement, and other flies, are the small game which hypocrites take in their nets. A spider's

web is a marvel of skill: look at it and admire the cunning hunter's wiles. Is not a deceiver's

religion equally wonderful? How does he make so barefaced a lie appear to be a truth? How can

he make his tinsel answer so well the purpose of gold? A spider's web comes all from the

creature's own bowels. The bee gathers her wax from flowers, the spider sucks no flowers, and

yet she spins out her material to any length. Even so hypocrites find their trust and hope within

themselves; their anchor was forged on their own anvil, and their cable twisted by their own

hands. They lay their own foundation, and hew out the pillars of their own house, disdaining to

be debtors to the sovereign grace of God. But a spider's web is very frail. It is curiously wrought,

but not enduringly manufactured. It is no match for the servant's broom, or the traveler‘s staff.

The hypocrite needs no battery of Armstrong‘s to blow his hope to pieces, a mere puff of wind

will do it. Hypocritical cobwebs will soon come down when the besom of destruction begins its

purifying work. Which reminds us of one more thought, viz., which such cobwebs are not to be

endured in the Lord's house: He will see to it that they and those who spin them shall be

destroyed forever. O my soul, be thou resting on something better than a spider's web. Be the

Lord Jesus thine eternal hiding-place.
