All members of the Association are entitled to attend and to participate in the proceedings at the AGM, but only Ordinary and Institutional Members are entitled to vote and be recognised for the purpose of determining whether a quorum is present. The vote of Institutional Members is to be exercised through its authorised representatives.

However, under Article IX, Clause 4 of the Constitution of the Association, members are not entitled to attend, speak or vote at the AGM unless monies due from them have been paid and these include the 2015 subscription.

Article XVII, Clause 5 states that the quorum for the AGM shall be one half of the total number of voting members or twice the number of the Council Members, whichever is the lesser. As the present Council has 20 members, this means a minimum of 40 members must be present in order to have a quorum. I shall be grateful if you will attend the AGM of the Association.

The following is the tentative Programme for the AGM on 25 April 2015:

PRESIDENT’S FOREWORD

n behalf of the Malaysian Water Association (MWA), I am pleased to present you our 2014 Annual Report. In our 27th year since inception, MWA today is still the leading association for Malaysian water professionals, connecting individuals and industry experts, and the best platform for business networking. We strive to be the preferred independent platform that fosters knowledge, advancement in science and practice for a sustainable water and wastewater industry. Through advocacy, collaboration and professional development we strive to maintain Malaysia as the water industry hub for developing nations.

OThe year 2014 has been an extremely busy year for the Secretariat of MWA, full of activities for our members as reported in this Annual Report comprising of technical talks forums, seminars and networking activities with ASEAN countries, Japan and Korea. The local activities received overwhelming support from our members and we thank you for your continuous support.

I invite you to read the list of activities that we have organised and participated in this Annual Report. Among the notable ones are the Asiawater 2014 Conference & Exhibition, the MWA 26th Anniversary Dinner, World Water Congress in Lisbon and the Japan Water Works Association Conference in Nagoya, the recent Young Water Professional Conference YWP 15 in Kuala Lumpur and visits, trainings and talks throughout 2014.

I would like to extend my most sincere thanks and gratitute to the Secretariat and Members who have worked hard behind the scene for the success of MWA. They have been the engine of success and growth for our Association. It is my hope that the Council Members and Members of MWA will come forward with new and creative ideas to bring MWA to greater height. What we take we have to give back to the industry and MWA is the best platform to do that.

1. ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT

The President, Ir. Syed Mohd Adnan Alhabshi (OM 1588) welcomed all members present at the 26th MWA Annual General Meeting. The President thanked everyone for spending the Saturday morning which demonstrated the strong support to the Association.

The new line up of the MWA Office Bearers had also illustrated commitment by the attendance in the regular Council Meeting and the fortnightly MWA Group Management Committee Meeting (MGMC). The fortnightly MGMC meeting spent substantial time on the operations of the Secretariat as well as the outstanding matters of two companies owned by MWA – Malaysian Water Management Sdn Bhd (MWM) and Malaysian Water Research Sdn Bhd (MWR). The committee is keen to start the operations of MWM and MWR once outstanding matters related with the companies were sorted out.

The Association had also improved its media relationship by having more interactions with mainstream media such as STAR and MWA continued its collaboration with the media and keep providing them information related to the industry. Another area that is developing well is the Young Water Professionals (YWP). MWA Council Member, Dr. Norhayati Abdullah, is currently sitting in the International Water Association (IWA) YWP Council.

At regional level, MWA had succeeded in having closer relationship with national water associations of other countries. Korea had been regularly sending in national water association delegates to visit Malaysia through MWA while Japan, Philippines and Indonesia had been attending conferences in Malaysia. Latest was Australia which had signed an MOU with MWA recently during the Asia Water Conference. MWA had been representing Malaysia in SEAWUN Board which involves several Asean nations such as Thailand, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam. At the international platform MWA is the Governing Member of IWA representing Malaysia.

MWA membership is already more than 1,500 but membership drive had not been too aggressive as efforts are concentrated at strengthening the Secretariat. There are several resignation of Secretariat/MyWA staffs which affected the operations of the Secretariat. The President announced that the Secretariat will be getting a new Executive Director to run MWA and all companies under MWA and the person to take up the post had previously served in the Council, Mr. Lee Koon Yew.

Finally, the President reiterated his sincere thanks and assured that the moral support given by all attending this AGM will be reciprocated by trying our best to do better.

2. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES OF 25TH AGM

Minutes of the 25th AGM held at The Club, Bandar Utama on 27 April 2013 was proposed by Ir. Chan Chiang Heng (OM 0022) and seconded by Dato’ Abdul Jalil Abdul Karim (OM 1603) to be accepted unanimously by the meeting.

3. MATTERS ARISING

Dato’ Ir. Syed Muhammad Shahabudin (OM 0020) raised on the status of MWM and MWR and the programmes of MyWA. In response to the matter, the President reported that MWM and MWR are still dormant. On the programmes of MyWA, it is reported in the Honorary Secretary General’s Report.

Mr. Yusof Badawi (OM 0627) responded to the comments of the President on membership drive and seek explanation on what is the plan for the Association to do better in membership drive. In reply the President shared the predicaments of secretariat constraints of having several resignations over a short period and short of staffs. MWA could do better if we could convince members of the benefits of joining the Association as MWA is well connected to the region through SEAWUN and globally through IWA. Another group of members that MWA envisaged would strengthen MWA is the younger generation which will be the main agenda for YWP Malaysian Chapter which is under MWA.

Dato’ Ir. Syed Muhammad Shahabudin (OM 0020) brought to the attention on the plan to utilise the available fund in the Association coffer. To respond to the issue raised, Immediate Past President, Mr. Ahmad Zahdi bin Jamil (OM 0786) mentioned that this matter had been brought up several times and the Council Members are still not fully assured of the way the fund should be spent. However, it is hoped that with an experienced Executive Director reporting to the office, a proper 3-year business plan could be prepared.

Mr. Ahmad Muzammir Muhammad (OM 0329) enquired on the amount owned to IWK which is about RM800,000. The President clarified that the amount owned are part of the long time dues. MWA is working with IWK on the matter as some documentations were not in order and inadequate for immediate payment.

Ir. Thong Koon Choon (IM 0002) raised on the actions to be taken against debtors. The President explained that MWA will be consistently contacting them to settle all debts.

Ir. Wan Mohd Zamri Wan Ismail (OM 0781) brought up the potential of getting funds from MOSTI for research works with institutional members. The President responded that MWA is willing to work on research grants from MOSTI with its members through MWM or MWR whichever is appropriate.

4. HONORARY SECRETARY GENERAL’S REPORT FOR 2013/2014 SESSION

The Honorary Secretary General tabled to the meeting the Annual Report for the year 2013/2014 covering the period 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2014.

Membership

As at 28 March 2014, the total Institutional Members are 173, 1,334 for Ordinary Members and 51 for Associate Members. Thus, total members are 1,558.

The Council

The present Council was elected during the election year in 2013 for the session of 2013/2015. The Council took over the management of the affairs of the Association after the conclusion of 25th AGM in April 2013. Their term of office will end at the conclusion of this 27th AGM.

Activities

The Hon. Secretary General, Ir. Mohmad Asari Daud (OM 0313) informed the annual meeting that MWA continues to actively organise activities and had participated in the followings:

5. HONORARY TREASURER GENERAL’S REPORT FOR 2013/2014 SESSION

The Financial Report for 2013 was presented by the Honorary Treasurer General.

a. The Total Income for the year ended 31 December 2013 was RM1,220,335.

b. The principal sources of Income were derived from Entrance & Subscription, Rental Income and Income from Activities organised by the Association. The amounts were RM106,032 (9%) RM48,000 (3%) and RM1,061,750 (83%) respectively.

c. The Total Expenditure was RM1,234,911 of which RM813,068 (65%) was spent on Activities & RM199,705 (16%) on staff salary & allowance.

d. The Surplus/Deficit for the year was (RM14,576). (Deficit (RM174,873) for 2012)

The Honorary Treasurer General’s Report was proposed by Mr. Yusof Badawi (OM 0627) and seconded by Ir. Ausamah Darwish Mohd Daud (OM 0314) to be accepted unanimously by the meeting.

6. ELECTION OF HONORARY INTERNAL AUDITORS

Mr. Ahmad Muzammir Muhammad (OM 0329) was proposed by Mr. Mansor Abdul Ghani (OM 0186) and seconded by Mr. Wan Mohd Zamri Wan Ismail (OM 0781).

Mr. Daniel Tan Hock Choon (OM 0380) was proposed by Mr. Mansor Abdul Ghani (OM 0186) and seconded by Mr. Wan Mohd Zamri Wan Ismail (OM 0781).

Mr. Ahmad Muzammir Muhammad (OM 0329) and Mr. Daniel Tan Hock Choon (OM 0380) was elected as Honorary Internal Auditors for 2014/2015 Session.

7. ANY OTHER BUSINESS (AOB)

Mr. Mohamad Zamri Yusoff (OM 1298) sent in a notice of AOB dated 18 April concerning application of membership from his colleagues which was not approved. In his letter, Mr. Mohamad Zamri Yusoff stated that 341 new applications of his colleagues were not yet approved.

Mr. Mohamad Zamri Yusoff (OM 1298) also enquired on the delay of sending out of Annual Report which was supposed to reach members at least 14 days before the AGM.

On the delay in submitting the Report, the Honorary Secretary General pointed out that there were delays in finalizing the accounts as there were constraints due to resignation of the main personnel handling the accounts.

Responding to the issue of 341 new applications who are the colleagues of Mr. Mohamad Zamri Yusoff (OM 1298), the Immediate Past President responded that MWA desired a wider base of membership before approving big number of members from one group. However, the Association is thankful for the interest shown by the colleagues of Mr. Mohamad Zamri.

Ir. Thong Koon Choon (IM 0002) suggested that MWA reviewed its constitution to enable fair representation of members in the Council with the influx of membership application from several organisations. The President assured that the matter will be discussed in the council and improvement made amicably. Among actions to be taken to drive membership is increasing activities that benefit members, sharing of knowledge and visits to institutional members’ premises or projects.

On a separate matter, the Deputy President highlighted on the updated on MWA Design Guidelines to be published by MWA. He suggested that Design Guidelines should incorporate the new water supply rules that SPAN would enforce later.

CORPORATE PROFILE

INTRODUCTION

MWA is a non-profit and independent national association of individuals and organisations interested in all aspects of the water and wastewater industries. Membership is multi-disciplinary with almost 2,000 members represent the full spectrum of the Malaysian water and wastewater industries. Funding is derived from subscriptions and Association activities.

As the leading water industry association in Malaysia, MWA seeks to represent the common interest of all water supply and wastewater industry players and to serve as the main Malaysia link in the international water industry network.

The cornerstone of the Association’s activities is the voluntary work of a large group of active association members and many other professionals from the water and wastewater authorities, institutions and companies in the Malaysia water fraternity.

MISSION

To promote synergy and enhance knowledge and good practice within the Malaysian water and wastewater industries to enable them to achieve their corporate goals and hence contributing effectively towards creating national competitiveness and success. We will focus and work on strategic issues and help outline direction and priorities in the industries. Nationally we will work in close cooperation with all parties in the government and private sectors. OBJECTS

MWA was formed and registered in 1988 as a non-profit organisation with the following objects:

• To promote and advance the science and practice of engineering and management in the water supply and wastewater industries.

• To provide a forum for exchange of views among various sectors making up the water and wastewater industries, including water authorities, research bodies, consultants, manufacturers, suppliers and contractors.

• To gather and disseminate through publications and other appropriate means information on water supply and wastewater with prior approval of relevant authority.

• To provide advice and information on water supply and wastewater to public and private bodies as well as the public in general.

• To promote and update standardization in water supply and wastewater practices, and also in goods, equipment and fittings used in the water supply and the wastewater industries.

• To co-operate, as may seem conducive to any of the above objects, with national and international organisations and to support and complement their activities.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR MWA

The success of MWA so far is due to the members’ enthusiastic support and to the financial donations of some of the Institutional Members. This had helped the Association to finance and advance its objectives. For the new millennium, apart from advancing the technology, science, management and government policies relative to the stewardship of water, MWA is prepared to re-examine its direction and scope to include a much broader agenda than at present. Our ambition include: expending more effort on community education, information and awareness-building among all Malaysians; striving to be proactive and effective in guiding, influencing and assisting the general public, business and industry, community and government sectors on water issues; providing the means to achieving greater technical competency, capability and capacity among the water industry players for a sustainable and efficient water management in Malaysia; developing relationships and the level of collaboration with several national and regional water-related organisations in order to make significant contributions at the national, regional and global context. To keep providing for these diverse interests, it is essential for MWA to strengthen its Secretariat and its two wholly-owned companies (MWM and MWR), develop new programmes and increase its membership. This requires both funds and enthusiastic support from more members.

HONORARY SECRETARY GENERAL’S REPORT ON ACTIVITIES FOR 2014/2015

1. INTRODUCTION

The Hon. Secretary General, Ir. Hj. Mohmad Asari Daud will present the 27th Annual Report of the Malaysian Water Association on behalf of the Council Members. This report covers the activities from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2015 including the accounts for the financial period from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2014. The accounts will be presented by the Hon. Treasurer General on behalf of the Council.

2. MEMBERSHIP

The membership of the Association as of 27 March 2015 stands at 1,317 i.e. Institutional Members (IM) – 175, Ordinary Members (OM) – 1,126 and Associate Members (AM) – 16. This compares to 1,558 members in last report. A total of 29 applicants were admitted as members during the period from 30 May 2014 to 27 March 2015 i.e. 6 IM and 21 OM and 2 AM.

Some members were deleted from the list due to resignation and death. Some names are being KIV due to subscription arrears and lost contact and Council will advise further on the membership status.

3. THE COUNCIL

The present Council was elected during the election year in 2013 for the Session of 2013/2015, which is the thirteenth voted in by members, consists of 15 elected, 4 appointed and 1 Immediate Past President. The Council took over the management of the affairs of the Association after the conclusion of 25th AGM in April 2013. Their term of office will end at the conclusion of the 27th AGM in April 2015 when the new Council will take over.

The counting of vote for the election of Office Bearers for 2015/2017 Session was conducted by two MWA appointed Scrutineers. The result will be announced at the 27th AGM.

5. ACCOUNT SIGNATORIES FOR 2013/2015 SESSION

The current account signatories are Ir. Syed Mohd Adnan Alhabshi (President), Dato’ Ir. Zainal Bachik (Hon. Treasurer General) and Ir. Mohmad Asari Daud (Hon. Secretary General). Any two of the above signatories are sufficient for signing purposes.

6. MWA GROUP MANAGEMENT MEETING

The MWA Group Management Meeting was held every fortnightly to discuss matters and issues on MWA and MyWA. The meeting involved President, Deputy President, Hon. Secretary General and Group Executive Director.

7. SECRETARIAT OFFICE

The Secretariat occupies the second floor of its building in Taman Sri Hartamas since 1 May 2005. The third floor is rented out to the Malaysian Water Academy Sdn Bhd (MyWA). The multi-purpose ground floor is being utilised for meeting, presentation and gathering places for MWA members while the first floor is rented out to TC Tan & Co., a law firm.

8. PUBLICATION

a. Water Malaysia

The Publication Committee is headed by Ir. Ong Guan Hock, assisted by Mr. Sofian Salleh.

The bulletin was published on behalf of MWA by SHP Sdn Bhd. The magazines were distributed to all MWA members and associates. The first quarter of 2015 was published in mid January 2015 and distributed to all members, associates, some ministries and government departments.

b. Malaysia Water Industry Guide

The annual guide was published to fulfill the needs of those in the industry as well as information seekers. It is a useful tool and source of information on Malaysian water and sewerage industries. It was a collaboration effort of KeTTHA, SPAN and MWA. Copies are sold at RM40 and RM50 per book for MWA member and non-member respectively. MWA thanked all companies that had advertised in the MWIG 2014.

c. Desk Calendar

The MWA’s 2014 desk calendars were distributed to all members and associates. MWA thanked all advertisers for their continuous support in making the calendar a success.

d. Malaysian Sewerage Industry Guidelines

There are five volumes in total for the above guidelines as following:

• Sewerage Policy for New Development (Vol. 1) • Sewerage Works Procedures (Vol. 2)• Sewer Networks and Pump Stations (Vol. 3)• Sewage Treatment Plants (Vol. 4)• Septic Tanks (Vol. 5)

Vol. 1 of the guideline is still pending revision by SPAN. Vol. 2 (second edition) is available for sale at MWA office and Vol. 3 to 5 (third edition) are available for sale at SPAN office.

e. MWA Design Guidelines for Water Supply Systems

The following sections of the guidelines have been reviewed by MWA review team headed by Ir. Zulkiflee Ab Hamid and ready for publication:

Meanwhile, Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air (SPAN) has gazetted and published the Water Services Industry (Water Reticulation and Plumbing) Rules 2014 which came into operation on 1st February 2014. Along with this document, SPAN has also published Uniform Technical Guidelines (UTG) with respect to the particular responsibilities of the various parties involved in implementing water distribution facilities inclusive of planning, design, construction, installation, testing and commissioning, and handing over.

Some of the volumes/chapters stated above are combined together for printing purposes and the books will be available for sale soon.

9. MWA WEBSITE

MWA website was launched in July 2012 with a new outlook and domain name: www.mwa.org.my. Amongst the information available are details on membership, conference, publication, training, activities, news, announcement, and picture galleries. Members are encouraged to visit the website regularly to get updates on the news and activities of the association. Comments and suggestions are welcomed to improve the website.

10. MWA ACTIVITES

a. Asia Water Conference & Exhibition, 19 – 21 March 2014

The 8th edition on Asia Water was successfully held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The President of MWA in his address at the Opening Ceremony extended warm greetings to the participants of the Asia Water 2014 Conference, exhibitors, visitors to the Asia Water and said, “MWA is pleased to play an active role in providing an ideal platform to gather all the water and wastewater industry players for them to discuss on issues at hand for common benefit. The fundamental science, innovative research, policies and solutions to challenges faced by water professionals worldwide are expected to be the relevant factors or demands in the coming years. Hence, the Asia Water 2014 Conference theme “Building on Innovative and Sustainable Partnerships in Water” which is in line with MWA’s increasing focus on water and wastewater issues in emerging economics.”

The event was graced by Minister of KeTTHA, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, J.P.

b. Visit from Korean Water and Wastewater Works Association, 16 April 2014

MWA welcomed delegates from Korea Water and Wastewater Association (KWWA) to Malaysia.

KWWA is a non-profit organisation supervised under the Ministry of Environment, Republic of Korea. Its objectives are to provide technical supports and education for the public officers and professionals related in water and wastewater fields. A total of 25 delegates came and we also arranged a technical visit to the treatment plants for them.

c. 26th MWA Annual General Meeting, 26 April 2014

The 26th AGM was attended by 89 members at The Golf Club Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam. Following the AGM was the post-AGM Talk by Tn. Hj. Ir. Wan Zamri Wan Ismail from Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd on the topic “Innovations in Water Supply Industry by Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd”.

d. Hari Air Sedunia 2014 Peringkat Negeri Johor, 5 May 2014

Theme: Water & Energy Hari Air Sedunia (HAS) 2014 Peringkat Negeri Johor was organised by SAJ Holdings Sdn Bhd and MWA was invited as one of the co-organisers among BAKAJ and SPAN. This was held at the Empangan Pontian, Ulu Choh, Johor. MWA took part in the exhibition and contributed the water monitoring kits to the local schools for their water monitoring activities.

e. Introduction to Integrated Lake Basin Management Plan 2014, 26 – 29 May 2014

Organised by Perbadanan Putrajaya, in collaboration with NAHRIM and MWA, the course was held for four days at the UKM, Bangi. It gave a general exposure to the lake and its basin management issues and participants are expected to gain the understanding on the subject matter related to the preparation of the lake management plan. It also exposed the methods on how to evaluate what is needed to protect, manage and restore your pond, lake or reservoir properly. The instructors were from UPM, UKM, MyWP, NAHRIM, LUAS and Perbadanan Putrajaya. A total of 21 people participated in the course.

f. Visit to Malaysian Meteorological Department, 19 June 2014

In regards to current climate condition – drought and the coming El Nino, this visit was timely and of interest to MWA members and water industry to have a first-hand knowledge on the weather condition and its effect on our water sources in near future/extended period. An updates on earthquake and tsunami, meteorology emergency relief, were shared by Dr. Wan Azli Wan Hassan from the Earthquake and Tsunami Department. We took the opportunity to see the MMD operating room and its facilities.

g. Technical Talk on Hybrid Off-River Augmentation System (HORAS), 11 July 2014

MWA conducted this half day talk at its premise in Sri Hartamas. Tn. Hj. Md Khairi Selamat, Director of Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) was invited to give the presentation. The objective of this talk was to learn about HORAS as an alternative water supply and LUAS’ initiative in managing the current water situation. The talk was attended by 43 members.

h. Technical Visit to ALS Technichem (M) Sdn Bhd, 19 August 2014

A half day visit was held at ALS Technichem’s premise in Shah Alam. Topics covered were on safe drinking water. About 16 members participated in the visits.

i. The NRW Leadership Colloquium, 4 September 2014

The main objective was to provide the platform for a substantive dialogue on NRW issues between key utility leaders as a follow-up to the last colloquium held in 2010. It aims to focus on the progress made on key issues surrounding NRW, including the magnitude of the NRW problem in many cities and regions of several Malaysian states, the reasons why NRW strategies and holistic NRW management are often difficult to be implemented fully or practices and re-examining the adequacy of funding and the human source requirement.

The colloquium was held in conjunction with Water Loss Asia that ran for three days at that the Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur from 2 to 4 September 2014. The Deputy Minister of KeTTHA was the guest of honour.

j. Workshop on Dam Operation, 10 September 2014

The focus was to ensure proper dam management, flood and drought risk mitigation through informed dam operations. The workshop served as a forum for engineers and technical personnel to come together and refresh their knowledge and share experiences on the subject of public interest.

The workshop was facilitated by Ir. Chan Chiang Heng, a water treatment and dam operation expert who understands the equipment inside a dam and how to operate it, maintain it and troubleshoot it. This was concluded with an open discussion. A total of 57 people participated in this workshop held at MWA premise.

k. IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, 21 – 27 September 2014, Lisbon, Portugal

A total of 23 delegates and 10 accompanying persons registered with MWA attended the above congress. The delegates found the technical sessions very beneficial and many had the opportunity to keep themselves updated on the latest development that had taken places in the water and sewerage sectors around the world.

l. 11th IWA-ASPIRE Council Meeting, 23 September 2014, Lisbon Convention Centre

The meeting was attended by the Governing Members from the ASPIRE region in conjunction with the IWA World Water Congress. MWA was represented by its President and Group Executive Director.

m. MWA-Bentley Seminar, 14 October 2014

Co-organised by MWA and Bentley, a seminar on Sustaining Water Infrastructure: From Planning to Operations and Maintenance was held at the Berjaya Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. A total of 91 participants attended the seminar.

n. MWA & Arachem Seminar, 23 October 2014

In collaboration with Arachem (M) Sdn Bhd, MWA organised a one day seminar “From Catchment to Tap – Risk Assessment & Hazards Identification in Water Safety Plan Implementation” at the One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.

The main objective of the seminar was to introduce the latest technology and exchange latest information relating to the above topic. The presentation was from the Ministry of Health, Konsortium ABASS and Arachem. A total of 76 participants attended the seminar.

o. Technical Visit to Merck (M) Sdn Bhd

The half day visit was held in collaboration between MWA and Merck. Among the topics covered – what drinking water parameters are routinely tested, the chemistry behind drinking water analysis, current conventional and modern approaches. A total of 16 people participated.

p. MWA Water Leaders’ Forum, 2 December 2014 The forum was held at the Pullman Hotel, Bangsar. The discussion during the forum was frank and intense, reflecting the wealth of knowledge and maturity amongst water players in the country. Many issues were raised and deliberated from different perspective angle. It appears that we all have to embrace the complexity of it and find ways and strategy on the most effective method to improve the situation.

The forum was moderated by YBhg. Tan Sri Ir. Hj. Omar Ibrahim, Founder President of MWA. The Keynote Speaker was YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Syed Muhammad Shahabudin (Executive Chairman of SMHB / Past President of MWA) and invited Panelists were YBhg. Dato’ Teo Yen Hua (former CEO of SPAN), Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa (GM of PBA Pulau Pinang), En. Ahmad Zahdi Jamil (CEO of RUB) and Mr. Foon Weng Lian (Forum Air Malaysia). MWA gathered the feedback from the forum and will engage with KeTTHA and other relevant ministries for their attention and action. A total of 80 participants attended the forum.

q. MWA 26th Annual Dinner, 2 December 2014

In celebrations of MWA 26th Annual Dinner held at the Pullman Hotel, Bangsar, MWA was privileged to have the presence of the Minister of KeTTHA, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili as the guest of honour. Also present was the Secretary General of KeTTHA, government officials and MWA member companies and individuals. The highlights of the evening was the presentation of “2014 MWA Special Water Award for Leadership” that was awarded to YBhg. Dato’ Teo Yen Hua, former CEO of SPAN. A presentation of certificate of appreciation to all gold and silver sponsors was presented by YB Minister. A dinner talk was delivered by Dr. M. Kumar, the Consultant Neurosurgeon of Sime Darby Medical Centre. About 530 guests attended the dinner was entertained by the stand-up comedian, Harith Iskander on that evening.

r. Technical Visit to Off-Storage Scheme and Sg. Labu Water Treatment Plant, 20 January 2015

With the implementation the proposed Sg. Labu Off-River Storage Scheme, KLIA’s current and long term water demands are secured and at the same time it provides valuable supply to partially offset water shortages in the state by serving other demand centres in Sepang and Kuala Langat simultaneously. This supply is strategically located and will provide extremely valuable support by relieving the existing Sg. Semenyih WTP of supply to KLIA and surrounding areas thus enabling this plant to be in a position to provide more reliable supply for other important demand centres such as Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

MWA headed by its Deputy President and 36 members of MWA visited the above. We thanked the host, Konsortium Air Selangor Sdn Bhd team members on the warm hospitality rendered.

s. Blood Donation Campaign, 7 February 2015

With the flood situation recently around the Pantai Timur, MWA in collaboration with National Blood Centre (Pusat Darah Negara) has organised Blood Donation Campaign to assist the hospitals and National Blood Centre that require all types of blood group to be distributed to flood victims. Due to a short time period, 19 donors donated blood including MWA Secretariat staff.

As the owner of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant Project, Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) was invited by MWA to give a briefing to carry out the engineering study, design and supervision of the construction of Phase 1 of the Langat 2 WTP and the distribution works and the presentation was done by Tn. Hj. Kamaruddin Hj. Abdul Razak, the Project Director of Langat 2 Project.

A total of 41 participants attended the briefing held at MWA premise.

u. Courtesy Call by Japan Water Works Association (JWWA) to Kuala Lumpur, 26 February 2015

MWA represented by its President, Deputy President, Hon. Secretary General and Executive Director extended its warm welcomed to JWWA representatives to its premise on 26 February and had a short briefing on the association as well as the overview of Malaysia water industry. We also invited JWWA to nominate representative to speak in the Water Malaysia 2015 Conference in April. The meeting was concluded with a lunch hosted by MWA.

a. Perkhidmatan Pembangunan Penyediaan Silibus Dan Modul-Modul Program Latihan Dalam Industri Perkhidmatan Air Negara

Malaysian Water Academy (MyWA) has been appointed by KeTTHA on 29 November 2013 to undertake “Perkhidmatan Pembangunan Penyediaan Silibus dan Modul-Modul Program Latihan Dalam Industri Perkhidmatan Air Negara”. MWA will pursue the matter with KeTTHA on the details of commencement.

1. The Total Income for the year ended 31 December 2014 was RM 1,217,842.66 2. The principal sources of income were Entrance and Subscription Fees, Rental Income and Income from Activities organised by the Association. The amounts were RM 105,972 (9%), RM 48,000 (4%) and RM 1,012,327 (83%) respectively. 3. The Total Expenditure was RM 1,171,985.94 of which RM 787,498 (63%) was spent on Activities and RM 205,180 (18%) on Employment Expenses. 4. ThesurplusfortheyearwasRM45,857,whilefor2013wasadeficitofRM14,576.

We have examined the accounts as at 31/12/2014 of the Association comprising the Balance Sheet and the related Income and Expenditure Accounts together with notes and all other accounting books and records. We have received satisfactory information and explanations required by us and in our opinion the accounts are properly drawn up and they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs and the results of the operations of the Association for the year ended 31/12/2014.
