THE FIRST NOTE OF THE PRELUDE begins our worship. Please use the prelude time

to turn your attention to God’s presence and help. As worship is not an obligatory offering unto God, but a natural response to God’s goodness, take time to consider all the reasons, big and small, for which you are thankful unto God.

Nurturing our relationships and friendships in fellowship is essential to our life as a

congregation, so please continue to do so following our time of worship. Those who are able are invited to stand. Latecomers may be seated.

Brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, welcome to worship at Faith Presbyterian Church. May we rejoice in all our human diversity as we celebrate our oneness

as God’s children. We hope you’ll join us following worship in Fellowship Hall for beverages, snacks, and fellowship.

WORSHIP NEW TO FAITH CHURCH?

If this is your first time in worship with us here at Faith Church, welcome! We want to get to know you, so be sure to sign the friendship registry when it is passed to you.

WORSHIP OFFERINGS Worship Assistants, who participate in the liturgy of the

worship service, can sign up on the appropriate sheet for a specific Sunday or special service through 2016. The second sheet allows those moved to dedicate their talents as offerings to sign up. Examples: an offering of music, art, dance, storytelling, prayer, etc. within worship. What offering of talent would you dedicate to God’s good purposes? Please consider signing up! The Worship Offerings bulletin board is in the Narthex.

Children’s Consignment Sale Hosted by Faith Presbyterian Church Emmaus

Friday, September 9th, 2016 • 8:00am 2:00pm and 5:00pm - 8:00pm

Saturday, September 10th, 2016 • 8:00 am – 12:00 pm and Half Price Sale 12:30 – 2:00 (consignor selected items only)

The Consign for Good sale is GOOD for consignors, who can

supplement the weighty cost of children by selling infant and children items that are no longer needed at a 70% consignment rate.

The Consign for Good sale is GOOD for families in need of infant in children items, who need a less expensive alternative to buying new at retail stores.

The Consign for Good sale is GOOD for the congregation, as it is a great way to introduce ourselves to members of our community, and becomes a witness to our love and identity as congregation.

The Consign for Good sale is VERY GOOD for the most vulnerable families with children in the East Penn School District, as all monies raised by this sale will be donated to support the work of East Penn Neighbors Helping Neighbors (EPNHN). EPNHN provides homeless families with children with temporary transitional housing and the help of skilled volunteers in addressing the underlying causes of their homelessness (for example, debt and finances, career counseling, legal and insurance struggles, etc.). More information can be found at www.EPNHN.org. Each time this sale is held, between $1500 and $2000 is raised that goes directly to helping these families in need. We are consigning for good, indeed!

PLEASE NOTE!

This is a TWO DAY SALE! There will be an optional half-price sale at the end of the Saturday sale. If you choose to donate your time during the sale, your registration fee will be waived. All clothing, even pants, must be on hangers.

We need your help! We need consignors and shoppers! Please tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers with children and grandchildren

about the Consign for Good sale. Anyone interested in being a consigner can email us at [email protected] or visit www.consignforgood.org for registration and additional information.

We need volunteers! If you can help for an hour or two (or more!) on Tuesday evening set-up, Wednesday (morning and late afternoon) consignor drop-off, Thursday morning consignor drop-off, Thursday evening pre-sale, Friday and Saturday sales, and Saturday afternoon clean-up, please email [email protected] or talk with Julie

PEACE AND GLOBAL WITNESS OFFERING: COME TO THE TABLE OF PEACE

W hat you’ve known as the Peacemaking Offering has been transformed into the Peace & Global Witness Offering. This Off

ering has a greater global reach, more significant impact, and brings peace to people through Christ.

A gift to the Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of injustice across the world. Individual congregations are encouraged to utilize up to 25% of the Peace & Global Witness Offering to sustain their local peacemaking ministries. Mid councils retain an additional 25% for ministries of peace and reconciliation. The remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence, including our own, through collaborative projects of education and Christian witness.

The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, a mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a program of Compassion, Peace and Justice Ministries, in urgent response to the overwhelming culture of violence in our world is working toward transforming cultures of violence into communities of peace. Responding with the community to inspire new approaches to active peacemaking. Equip God’s people to be compassionate and prophetic peacemakers and connect communities of peace to learn from each other in shared accompaniment and take action together for the transformation of the world. Transforming Cultures of Violence into Communities of Peace. The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, a mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a program of Compassion, Peace and Justice

Ministries, in urgent response to the overwhelming culture of violence in our world is:

Working toward…

Connect communities of peace to learn from each other in shared accompaniment and take action together for the transformation of the world.

Transforming Cultures of Violence into Communities of Peace

The Peace & Global Witness Offering is received during the Season of Peace, which ends on World Communion Sunday, October 2.

We will be giving our 25% to East Penn Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Their mission is to serve families within the East Penn School District through multi-faceted short-term assistance in order to help restore and sustain healthy, independent living.

In 2015, Faith Presbyterian Church received $2335.00, with $583.75 going towards support of East Penn Neighbors Helping Neighbors. We had 29 faithful mission givers.

What can we do in 2016 to help set the TABLE of PEACE?
