Brief for Made in Lambeth Street Champions challenge - Tuesday 30 June, 6-9pm, Impact Hub Brixton
BRIEFING: STREET CHAMPIONS The BackgroundGet annoyed when people
drop litter? Wish people would clean up after their dogs? Want to
get to know your neighbours? If youve answered yes to any of those
questions then you need to know about Street Champions!
Street Champions work with their neighbours to tackle the issues
that matter to them. From tackling litter and fly-tipping to
organising community events like street parties, the scheme makes
it easier for neighbours to get together, get to know one another,
and make a difference to their street. After a successful pilot the
scheme is going borough-wide. To achieve this, it needs to
communicate this project to residents from all backgrounds.
The scheme is owned by the street champions themselves, and they
want the opportunity to collaborate with all the creative and
skilled people in the Made in Lambeth community to help them design
the materials and strategic communications they need to make a
difference in their neighbourhoods.
If you are a graphic designer, artist, community worker, web
designer, networking or communications guru or youve organised
activities in your neighbourhood then we need your help to create
materials and a strategy that Street Champions can use to connect
with their neighbours and each other.
The Challenge
1. Create effective communications materials: Fancy getting your
hands dirty? This is about making and creating. We want you to
create posters, flyers and stickers that the Street Champions can
use to let others know they are there and to get their message
across. We want you to come up with eye-catching and friendly
designs that are appealing to everyone, including you!
2. Develop communications tactics: Prefer to brainstorm? In this
challenge we are asking for you to find ways for Street Champions
to talk to other residents, one another and also to other potential
street champions? Who do they need to reach and how? What sort of
support would be helpful? What sort of networking events would be
useful?
Your Impact
Your ideas and expertise will make a real difference to the
look, feel and energy of the Street Champions scheme. This is going
live over the summer so your input will potentially be visible on
Lambeth streets for all to see!
