    WHY VIDEO MUX:

    y Two cases:

y In NASA-MISSION CONTROL look, there is a onemonitor assigned for one camera and watched by a

single control person. With that type of arrangement, youd have to watch only one screen instead ofhaving to scan a wall of CRTs

y Similarly, a commercial video switcher with picture

in picture is also available in market which cost veryhigh

y So a viable alternative is to build your own

    INTRODUCTION

y Is basically a video switcher

y Can switch over the available video inputs from number

of cameras or any other Composite Video Signal sources

y Video switching can be done manually as well asautomatically at a rate defined by users convenience

    OBJECTIVES

y To design a system that switches number of videos

    available from different sources alternatively

y To design a economical video switcher

y To be able to record the videos being displayed

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

y The heart of this video multiplexer is a MaximMAX454. That integrated a 4 way videomultiplexer and an amplifier that operates as alow impedance line driver.

y The resulting video output is high quality withvery low phase distortion.

y The video inputs are selected by applying abinary number to the address inputs.

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

    (CONTD)

y Binary addressing circuit is a decade counter

y Clock pulse for the counter is generated by timer circuit

that is adjusted in astable multivibration mode

y Video sequencing can be done manually as well asautomatically

y In automatic mode the videos are switched at a rate

defined by RC time constant in timer circuit

y Video input can be taken from CCTV camera, DVD

    player, or TV antenna

y Video output can be given directly to a TV or system

    through TV card

    TASKS REMAINING

y Replacement of Multiplexer IC with its equivalent relay

circuit with optocoupler isolation from the main control

    circuit

y BNC jack and BNC cable connection to the circuit andcameras

y Video source collection( Camera or DVD player)

y PC interfacing through VGA card or TV card

y Enquiring the possibility for video recording on hard disk

    PROGRESS OF REMAININGACTIVITIES

    y Relay circuit:35% complete

    y Power supply:50%

    y Implementation on PCB: 70%

    CONCLUSION

y All the components that were available are physically

tested ,simulated , placed in dot matrix board except those

    that arrived later

    y Overall progress: 60% completed
