Term 2 Week 4
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
REMOTE LEARNING Congratulations to everyone on your fantastic efforts with the STEM activity last week. We have been so impressed with the virus entries and the videos that have been submitted! So many families enjoyed this task and we saw lots of teamwork and creativity! Thank you for the laughs – we have been sharing pictures and videos in the staffroom and many have certainly gone beyond all expectations! We certainly found judging this activity to be very difficult but entertaining at the same time. After many days of deliberation, we would like to acknowledge the efforts of all students who participated in this activity and we have put a special treat for you to enjoy in your Friday delivery bag. This task revealed that we have such a talented group of students and parents! Thank you to everyone for continuing to support your child/ren with remote learning. We are receiving some wonderful positive feedback and humbled by the cards, notes and goodies we have received acknowledging the hard work of our staff. Remote learning has been a huge undertaking for all our staff, and they are working extra hard to deliver quality learning programs and provide feedback to students. I would also like to acknowledge the hard work of our Learning Support Officers who have up to eight students each to supervise and assist with remote learning onsite – all of differing age levels. We are all trying our best and we thank you for being extra patient in these trying circumstances.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY We wish all Mums a very happy Mother’s Day this Sunday and pray that you will be encouraged and blessed. Thank you for all that you do for your family and child/ren.
ASTHMA AND ANAPHYLAXIS Asthma and anaphylaxis are two conditions that require parents to provide management plans to the school. To raise awareness about medical conditions in our school community, it is important that parents have a good understanding of their role and responsibilities. Below is a link to information about anaphylaxis that has been provided by the Royal Children’s Hospital. It is critical that parents inform the school if your child’s medical details change or needs to be updated. http://www.rch.org.au/kidsinfo/fact_sheets/Allergic_and_anaphylactic_reactions CSEF PAYMENTS The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend activities like swimming camps or trips, swimming and school-organised sports programs, outdoor education programs and excursions and incursions. Families holding a means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply. $125 per year is available for primary aged students. Please see Mrs. Hayley Bristow if you believe that you are eligible and would like an application form. CHAPEL For Chapel tomorrow there is a special Mother’s Day Chapel. It will be posted as a video link to the students Seesaw account tomorrow morning.
Key messages that you can reinforce at home to keep children safe online include; informing students that nothing ever disappears from cyberspace; online behaviours and comments become a digital imprint visible to potential friends, employers etc. If you would like more information and advice on how to develop appropriate on-line boundaries, visit the government Cyber Safety website at www.cybersafetyhelp.gov.au STUDENT AND FAMILY WELLBEING Updated suggestions of helpful links for wellbeing this week:
1. Book titled, ‘Calm Mindfulness for Kids’ by DK. 2. Emerging minds website https://emergingminds.com.au/resources/supporting-
children-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak/ 3. David Rausch from GO! Children’s Ministry made this helpful video. Kids want to
know…What is coronavirus? What should I do about it? Do I need to be scared? This video answers those questions and points kids to the Bible for direction on what to do when they feel afraid. https://ministry-to-children.com/talking-to-kids-about-coronavirus/

Devotion... HIDDEN BLESSINGS “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 Learn to trust Me in all situations—the tough ones, as well as the easy ones. Trust Me when you don’t understand what’s going on. Trust Me when everything seems to be spinning out of control. Trust Me when you feel like you are all alone and no one understands. I understand. Don’t waste your time thinking about how things should have been. Don ’t try to run away. Start right this minute—accepting things exactly as they are—and search for My way through your challenges. Learn to look for the blessings and the opportunities I have hidden in those difficulties. Trust Me and lean on Me. I love you, and I will never let you down. Read on your own: Psalm 52:8
