The Word is your oyster

Falstaff

I will not lend thee a penny. (Original)

I won’t lend you any money. (Common day)

Pistol

Why, then the world's mine oyster, which I with sword will open. (Original)

Why, your world is my oyster which I will cut open. (Common day)

Source: William Shakespeare, The merry wives of Windsor, Act 2 Scene 2. 1602

The world is your oyster is a common expression originally used in Shakespeare’s play

“The merry wives of Windsor” as written above, where Falstaff says to Pistol that he

won’t lend him any money and to which Pistol replies, “that’s ok I’m in a position to

steal your money and I shall”, today however we use it in a positive context:

The world is your oyster; you can achieve anything you want to.
