This country gentleman is one of the most respected and dedicated owners in the history of duckpin bowling! In 1958, he built his first bowling center, Turnerʼs Dual Lanes, which is now hosting the Womenʼs National Duckpin Association (WNDA). Only only two short years later, he opened his second establishment, Longmeadow Bowl. By the time that 1961 was drawing to a close, Frank had opened Southside Bowl, now home to the Duckpin Professional Bowlers Association (DPBA), and Pikeside Bowl located in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Frankʼs Turner Enterprises added to its portfolio of sports and recreational businesses in 1969 by opening Turnerʼs Skate Palace, adjacent to Southside Bowl.
The Ramada Inn and the renowned Tortuga Restaurant joined the Turner Enterprises family of businesses in 1978. For 21 years these landmarks flourished under his ownership until Frank sold them in 1999. The new millennium brought two new business ventures: Hagerstown Moose, an exciting night spot for music, and the opening of Frankʼs Place, a casino at Pikeside that offers food, beverages and “Slots”!
Frank received one of his greatest honors in 1997 when the National Duckpin Bowling Congress inducted him into its Hall of Fame for meritorious Service. It acknowledged his lifelong support of the sport of duckpin bowling.
Recently, Frank gave $100,000 to help build the new Red Cross Building. This year, he donated a Half a Million dollars ($500,000) to build the new Meritus Healthcare Hospital located near Robinwood.
Not only is Frank a giant in the bowling industry, but he is also a good friend of the bowler. This is indeed a rare combination and one that is deeply appreciated by us all.
Thank you, Frank!

Founded in 1982, the Women’s National Duckpin Association (WNDA) has been promoting the thrill and challenge of duckpin bowling competition for women. To date, we have held more than 150 events with over $1 Million in prizes and awards. Each year, our association organizes a number of tournament events designed to provide a professional environment in which women can compete to be the best.
Our members have opportunities to compete for nearly $40,000 in annual prizes, travel to other cities, compete in a professional atmosphere, and make new friends. The WNDA has attracted women bowlers from New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Canada.
Our MissionThe WNDA shall bring together the finest women duckpin bowlers in the country to promote a
professional image, a healthy competitive spirit, and a dedication to the betterment of the sport of duckpin bowling.
Theresa Belniak was devoted to the game of duckpins. She served as the Treasurer for the WNDA for over twenty years, as President of the NDBC for three years, and on the Board of the NDBC for over 20 years. She also served in local and state duckpin associations. Theresa was elected to the Bowlers Association of Connecticut Hall of Fame in 1996 and 2006 and to the WNDA Hall of Fame in 2003.
This annual award is given to the WNDA member who best personifies the spirit of Theresa Belniak's service commitment to the WNDA. Theresa dedicated her time, efforts, expertise, and her heart to make the WNDA a successful organization. Each year the winner of this award will have shown their dedication to the tour, either in the past or in the present, by selflessly lending their time, their ideas, and their efforts to the success of the WNDA.

The 2010 recipient's name has become synonymous with the words "service," and "commitment" where the Women's National Duckpin Association and its members are concerned. She has shown her dedication to the tour since 2002 when she began to develop the WNDA's original website. Much to the delight of the members, information would eventually become more easily accessible, and all mailing materials would be posted on the website saving the WNDA hundreds of dollars in postage each year - much to Theresa's delight, as she was our Treasurer at the time. In 2003 the website became fully functional, and in 2004 when she became Vice President, South the push was made and completed to use the website in place of regular mailings. She continued to maintain and further develop our website for 6 years, a minimum of 500 hours of webmaster time.
In addition to our website, she automated the tour's records for each and every bowler dating back to 1982, thus completing a database that could be easily updated after each tour in the future. As a part of this database, annual average calculations, bowler of the year points, rookie of the year points, and hall of fame points were also automated. Time involved with this project, just about 300 hours.
In 2004 she also took on the task of designing, printing and binding our program books. She added interesting tour statistics, facts about the WNDA's history, and embedded digital photographs into the files prior to printing. The hours involved in the program book - approximately 700 hours.
She took on the responsibility for redesigning our plaques and awards and ensuring their accuracy. And in 2007 when we lost Theresa Belniak to her battle with leukemia, this lady immediately stepped up and assumed the position of Chairwoman for the Hall of Fame Committee. She has stepped up to the plate on every occasion to assist with anything that needed to be done. Among all of these accomplishments and undertakings, she effectively assumed all of the responsibilities of Vice President for six years, managed to obtain sponsors for the tour on an annual basis (which she still does), maintain a full time job as Section Chief of an Administrative Technical Support Branch at the U.S. Census Bureau, raise 2 children and bowl 2 nights a week. She continues to serve us all by donating her time and efforts on a behind the scenes basis.
It is safe to say that she single-handedly brought our organization into the 21st century. She was our superwoman when it came to information technology, design and creativity following through on every endeavor with a willingness to do whatever it took to make our tour successful. Her demonstrated level of commitment and dedication is certainly a rare find.

ANN SCHMITTER MEMORIAL AWARDSPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR
In 1986, the WNDA Governing Body established the Ann Schmitter Memorial Sportswoman of the Year Award in memory of one of the finest ladies the game of duckpins has ever known Ann Schmitter, of Glastonbury, CT. Ann was devoted to the game of duckpins on every level, from local league play to both the Ladies Professional Duckpin Tour and the WNDA, serving in many positions from league Secretary and President, to the Connecticut Area Representative for the Pro Tour. She was a lady both on and off the lanes and was well respected by everyone who made her acquaintance.
This annual award is given to the WNDA member who best exemplifies the qualities that Ann brought to the game: good sportswomanship, dedication, and unselfish devotion to the game of duckpins and to her fellow bowlers. Anyone may nominate a WNDA member to receive the award. Nominations must be submitted in writing and clearly support why the nominee should be honored with the Ann Schmitter Award.

ANN SCHMITTER AWARD RECIPIENTS
The 2010 recipient has been dubbed one of the "beginning crew," as she has been a loyal member of the WNDA since it's inception in 1982. For almost 30 years, year in and year out, we've seen her name on our roster. She continues to bowl, continues to cheer and continues to encourage. Those who have known her say that over the almost 30 years, she's never changed.
If you're lucky enough to be on her lanes, you can count on having a great afternoon whether or not you're bowling well. Her good nature permeates the atmosphere and
there are always plenty of smiles and encouragement to go around. Whether she is on the lanes competing or in the back supporting her comrades, she is someone who adds a special quality of congeniality wherever she goes. Tour after tour, year after year, you will always find her participating... not only competing, but also cheering for her "teammates." Her "teammate" is exactly how she makes you feel when you are on her lanes. It is good sportsmanship personified; win or lose, we are all on the same team.
A few observations about her from her peers include:! "It's been a long time coming!"! "She is a great person, a great sportswoman and a wonderful choice," , and! "She's been a supporter of the tour for so long, and has always had an upbeat attitude."
It is quite simple to see that this lady is thought of very highly.
Whether you recognize her for her always fashionable outfits, or for her long flowing red locks, it is her heartwarming smile that will catch your eye and leave a lasting impression on your heart. As an example of how well though of she is, multiple people nominated her for this prestigious award.
She is certainly most deserving of this honor.
