ADORATION CHAPEL “Love God. Serve God; everything is in that.” ~St. Clare

St. Clare of Assisi gave up a life of wealth to become a nun &

imitated St. Francis’ life of poverty. She spent hours in Eucharis-

tic Adoration & placed her trust in Jesus in the Most Blessed Sac-

rament even when her convent was besieged by an army. Looking

upon Jesus Eucharistic, the enemies fled in fear.

During the celebration of a Forty Hours Devotion, St. Rose

adored Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament from morning until

night without eating or drinking. St. Rose had such a great love

for the Blessed Sacrament that she started Perpetual Eucharistic

Adoration in every parish in her village. When pirates sought to

destroy her village, she led the faithful in standing near the taber-

nacle.

MANY PRAYERS AND SYMPATHY To Elaine Rock & family, upon the death of her sister,

Diane Trebonick on August 8, 2017.

To John “Jack” Adams & family, upon the death of his mother

Ida Adams, on August 17, 2017.

May Diane & Ida’s souls & the souls of all

the faithfully departed, through the mercy

of God, rest in peace. Amen

Life is changed, not ended.

PASTOR’S COLUMN Annick Theuroueville, a 20-year old French girl who had

been paralyzed from birth, took part in a Rosary pilgrimage to

Lourdes on October 7, 1975. In her wheelchair, she joined the

procession of more than 40,000 pilgrims, and then bathed in the

pool beside the grotto. After bathing, she complained of being

very tired. At three o’clock the next morning, she awakened in

her hotel room. On a sudden impulse, she got out of bed and

walked. Apart from painful efforts to use crutches, she had never

in her life done this. The other pilgrims at the hotel were amazed

to see Annick come down the stairs for breakfast. Doctors who

examined her on October 8 could find no medical explanation for

her recovery. Of course, the medical bureau at Lourdes is very

cautious about pronouncing cures miraculous. Conclusions are

reached only after several years of observation.

Naturally everybody was interested in asking Annick’s own

reactions. Many knew that she had long since accepted her dis-

ability as the will of God.

“It means joy” she answered, “but also sadness. For I ask

myself, why me and not the others?” …Who has known the mind

of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? (Romans, 11:34.

Today’s second reading).

~Rev. Edward J Smith
