ECKANKAR: Religion of the Light and Sound of God
Eckankar teaches that there is an audible life current known as the ECK, or Holy Spirit, that connects each of us with the heart of God. We can expe-rience the ECK as Light and
Sound. Through study and practice of the Spiritual Exercises of ECK, we learn to recognize the Light and Sound of God as It touches our lives and brings increased divine love.
The spiritual leader of Eckankar is the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master, Sri Harold Klemp. The Mahanta is the inner, or spiritual form of the Living ECK Master. The Mahanta gives inner guidance through dreams, Soul Travel, and the Spiritual Exercises of ECK. Harold Klemp’s inspiring talks and writings, and his practical approach to spirituality, help thousands of people worldwide find greater freedom, wisdom and love. His teachings uplift and help people recognize their own experiences with the Light and Sound of God.

Membership in Eckankar is available for those who wish to take their spiritual studies further. Members receive printed monthly lessons from the spiritual leader of Eckankar, Sri Harold Klemp, the Mahanta, the Living ECK Master. ECK Worship Serv ice Open Book Discussion
The “Spiritual Wisdom” series book discussion that has been ongoing since July will finish in January. The February discussion will be on ECKANKAR—Ancient Wisdom for Today. In March we will begin discussions on The Call of Soul, working on one chapter each month for 10 months. These discussions are held on the 4th Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at the ECK Center in Sandy and at 4:00 p.m. in Ogden. They are open to any interested person, and you may attend any one of your choice, or all of them. Books are available at the ECK Center or online, but it is not necessary to have read the selected reading in order to attend and participate in the discussion.
Jan - Spiritual Wisdom on Conquering Fear Learn what to do to get rid of fears in your life. Feb - ECKANKAR - Ancient Wisdom for Today Learn how past lives, dreams, and soul travel help you find God. Mar - The Call of Soul This will be the first in a ten-month series, with one chapter each month. The first chapter is titled “In Pursuit of God.”
T he public is warmly invited to attend ECK
worship services on the second Sunday of
every month in Salt Lake City. Each service focuses
on an aspect of Eckankar’s teachings. Services often
feature a reading from ECK works, singing HU (an
ancient love song to God), talks, music, and a group
discussion of spiritual principles at work in daily life.
Worship service lasts about an hour. Fellowship and a
potluck lunch follow.
J oin others seeking to bring more insight and divine love into their lives at
this special celebration of the Light and Sound of God.

ESA Sessions. An ECK Spir itual
Aide session, though not counseling,
can help you find your own answers
in challenging situations through the
personal guidance of Divine Spirit.
The ESA session is conducted by an
ECK Spiritual Aide, a specially
appointed and trained ECK cleric.
There are no fees for the above
services, but ECK clerics accept
donations to Eckankar.

Eckankar, the Religion of Light and Sound, was part of the Parliament of the World’s Religions, held in Salt Lake City October 15th - 19th. Utah Satsang Society, an affiliate of Eckankar, had a booth display on exhibit throughout the weekend. Local ECK volunteers reported that Parliament at-tendees enjoyed spinning the Spiritual Wisdom Wheel at our booth. Many copies of the book ECKANKAR - Ancient Wisdom for Today, as well as HU chant CDs, were given away. In the booth was a poster titled “Tell Us About Your Spiritual Experiences.” Many people responded to this, sharing their stories, and reliving the experience as they told it, of some of the most sacred moments in their lives.
ECKANKAR AT Parliament of the World’s religions
Just four days after the close of the Parliament, Eckankar celebrated a double anniversary at the Worldwide Semi-nar in Minnesota: it was the 50th anniversary of Paul Twitchell bringing out the teachings of ECK in 1965, and the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the Temple of ECK in Chanhassen, MN in 1990.
Our team of local ECKists who manned the Eckankar booth at the Parliament were joined by Linda Anderson, ECK au-thor from Minnesota, and ECK workshop presenters, Gene-vieve Marie of Australia and Len Gierach of Canada.
