1. Call to Order – David Olack o Meeting called to order at 8:34 PM

a) Acting General Chair – David Olack i) Appointment of Acting Administrative Vice Chair & Safety Coordinator

ii) Call for agenda items for the Planning Retreat Meeting to be held January 3-4, 2015, at Home2 Suites by Hilton in Greensboro Final arrangements have been made with Jane Grosser, USA Swimming LSC Governance

Consultant, to attend the retreat to speak to LSC development and guide NCS on organizational improvements to the LSC

Wayne Shulby will be presenting an analysis on LEAP ACTION ITEM: Bill Martin to send email to board member seeking agenda items and

to get a number of those who will attend

b) Treasurer – Jon Fox i) Financial Statements

MOTION: Approve financial statement as presented - PASSED

c) Membership/Registration – Suzanne Heath i) 2014/YTD Total Membership – 11,112/7,715 ii) 2014/YTD Coaches – 480/237 iii) 2014/YTD Officials – 460/166 iv) New Club – Brevard Health & Racquet Club (BHRC); Cassie Smatana, Head Coach v) Name change Mars Hill to Mars Hill Aquatic Club (MHAC) vi) Call to expedite registrations for Barb to assist in the processing vii) Analytics will be available live in club portals December 10, 2014

viii) Funding is being proposed at the national level to include official certifications within Deck Pass MOTION: Approve membership report as presented - PASSED

d) Safety Coordinator – Trish Martin

i) Accident Reports NCS 3rd quarter full report available. Contact Trish Martin for details. Increase in number of incidents of epileptic seizures and pool bottom head strikes on dive

starts. MOTION: Approve safety report as presented - PASSED

5. Committee Reports

a) Technical Planning – Kevin Thornton i) 2015 LC Senior Champ bid – GCY

MOTION: Approve GCY’s bid for the 2015 Long Course Senior Champs to be held at GAC on July 23-26, 2015 - PASSED

b) Officials Committee – Chris Kitchens

i) YMCA Reciprocity ii) Official Policies

MOTION: Approve policies as submitted – PASSED

iii) Suggested that a survey as to why retention of apprentices is low ACTION ITEM: Chris Kitchens to publish how to register/become an official on the

website

c) Senior/AG – Jay Dodson/Kathy McKee

i) Changes to state championship meet announcement Senior champs: added 200 relays and a change to accept entries from new qualifiers at

high school champs meet held on the Monday before champs. Those who qualify must get the entries in that day.

Age Group champs: consolidate 10 and under to 2 days; changed 11-12 events to timed finals and added over distance events to final sessions as in long course meet; added 13-14 800 free relays

All changes were submitted and approved by the respective committee chairs in advance of the November 15 deadline as required.

d) Open Water – Taylor Cooper

i) Request for funds for open water zones MOTION: Table request so that Taylor may address it and to provide equality for the

athletes at this meet as well as other meets that the LSC provides funding – TABLED

e) Zone – John Fedena

i) Request for funds for zone team MOTION: Table request so that Jon may address it and look at schedule and

reasonableness of the number of days athletes are away and other options. – TABLED

Suggestion by Paul Silver to look into NCS Hall of Fame at GAC ACTION ITEM: Trish Martin to look into this possibility

8. Schedule a) Planning Retreat, January 3-4, 2015, at Home2 Suites by Hilton in Greensboro; Next BOD

meeting will be held at the conclusion of the retreat on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at approximately 3:00 PM; there will be an opportunity for board members not in attendance to call in
