Castellini .......................... 2006–Present

On Nov. 2, 2005, the Cincinnati Reds announced that the controlling interest in the club would be acquired by a group of Cincinnatians led by Robert H. Castellini, Chairman of Castellini Company.

Other members of the group acquiring the controlling interest include Thomas L. Williams and W. Joseph Williams, Jr., President and Chairman, respectively, of Cincinnati based North American Properties.

The sale of the club was completed on Jan. 19, 2006, and Mr. Castellini assumed control of the Club as its Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Castellini has been involved in Major League Baseball for close to 40 years. His involvement included a minor interest in the Cincinnati Reds as part of the Williams family ownership until that interest was sold in 1984. He became a partner in the Texas Rangers in 1989 and the Baltimore

Orioles in 1993. From 1995 until 2006 Mr. Castellini was an investor in the St. Louis Cardinals. His interest in the Cardinals was sold as a condition of his acquisition of the Cincinnati Reds.

Mr. Castellini has been the Chairman of Castellini Group of Companies since 1992, following tenures as Executive Vice President from 1967–1970 and President from 1970–1992. The Castellini Company businesses include perishable distribution, food processing, public warehousing, transportation logistics and leasing.

In 1963, he graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in economics and after two years as an officer in the U.S. Army he received his MBA from Wharton Graduate School in 1967.

Mr. Castellini is very active in the Cincinnati community. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees for Xavier University as well as Chairman of Xavier’s Development Committee, member and Past President of the Cincinnati Business Committee, a member of the Commercial and Commonwealth Clubs of Cincinnati as well as past president of both clubs, member of the Chief Executives Organization and Past President of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Cincinnati Chapter. PRESIDENT OF BASEBALL OPERATIONS

DICK WILLIAMSDick Williams is in his third season as President of Baseball Operations and in his 14th season with the organization. He oversees all aspects of baseball operations, including the Major League team, player development, pro and amateur scouting, and the international operations. During the 2016 and 2017 seasons, he also held the title of general manager.

Williams worked under two general managers after joining the Reds. He worked for Wayne Krivsky from 2006 until mid-2008. He then worked for Walt Jocketty from mid-2008 through the 2016 season. Williams was the second-youngest executive to be promoted to General Manager for the Reds since Gabe Paul in 1951. During

that time, the Reds have had 11 different GMs. Overall, Williams was the 18th general manager in the history of the team and the second, after Jocketty, to hold the title of President of Baseball Operations.

While Williams has worked in the front office, the Reds have made the postseason three times (2010, 2012 and 2013), winning the NL Central Division twice and the Wild Card once. The only other time in Reds history with as many playoff appearances in such a short window occurred during the Big Red Machine era, when that club made five postseason appearances in seven seasons between 1970 and 1976 and six appearances in 10 seasons between 1970 and 1979. When the Reds made the playoffs in 2010, it was their first appearance in the postseason in 15 years. The Reds were named the Organization of the Year by Baseball America in 2012.

One of the keys to the Reds’ window of success from 2010 to 2013 was an improvement in the farm system. The talent in the Reds’ minor league system was ranked 30th in the Major Leagues by Baseball America in 2006 when the new ownership group took over. Just two years later, the system was in the top five and has not ranked below 17th since 2006.

In 2016, Baseball America rated the Reds’ June First-Year Player Draft the best of all 30 teams. Also during the summer of 2016, the Reds signed two Cuban players to add to their minor league system, SS Alfredo Rodriguez and RHP Vladimir Gutierrez. Both were ranked in the top seven of all international prospects by MLB. The Reds also had highly rated draft classes again in 2017 and 2018. Many the Reds’ top 10 prospects have been acquired since 2016, including Nick Senzel, Hunter Greene, Taylor Trammell, Jonathan India, Vladimir Gutierrez and Mike Siani. At the beginning of each of the last 2 years, five Reds prospects were named in Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects list, including Senzel (10th), Trammell (33rd), India (51st), Greene (57th) and Tony Santillan (69th) heading into the 2019 season.

In recent years, the team has executed waiver claims, completed trades and signed free agents to add from outside the organization. Players added in the last three years include Curt Casali, Luis Castillo, Scooter Gennett, Sonny Gray, Matt Harvey, David Hernandez, Jared Hughes, Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig, Tanner Roark and Alex Wood, among others.

In addition to a continued focus on acquiring and developing talent, Williams is very interested in helping advance the team’s analytics initiatives, which are improving the proprietary tools that aggregate scouting and statistical information and assist with decision-making. To that end, the team has made significant new investments in recent years into both personnel and infrastructure.

The team made several significant new investments this year in other areas of baseball operations including establishing a scouting presence in the Pacific Rim, expanding the scouting presence in Latin America, growing the domestic amateur scouting staff and increasing the Player Development staff to offer more personalized instruction to players. The team has also established Sports Science and Wellness initiatives that will benefit the organization at all levels. For the first time, the team sent several top minor league players to leadership training after the 2016 season ended and has continued that in the years since.

Following the 2018 season, the baseball operations department had significant personnel changes, including several newly created positions. The team named a new major league manager as well members of the coaching staff. There is also new leadership in the Amateur Scouting, Pro Scouting, International Scouting and Player Development departments.

Williams supervised the Florida operations of the team in the past and was a leader in the team’s design and construction of a new training complex in Arizona, which opened for the 2010 season. In 2015, he also supervised the relocation and renovation of the team’s training facility in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic.

    FRONT OFFICE

Williams was born and raised in Cincinnati as a Reds fan. In the 1970s, he was paired with George Foster in a television advertisement for a team Bat Day giveaway. In the 1980s, he served as a batboy at Al Lopez Field in Tampa during Spring Training. In October 1990, when the Reds won Game 6 of the NLCS vs the Pirates on the way to their first World Series appearance since 1976, he was arrested for running on the playing field and joining the postgame celebration. He was sentenced to one day of community service, which he happily served, in exchange for having the trespassing charges dropped.

Williams’ grandfather, W. Joseph Williams Sr., was one of the principal owners of the group that purchased the Reds in 1966. He served as Vice President of the club from 1966 to 1982 and as general partner from 1982 until he sold the team in 1984. As chairman of a small committee in 1967, Mr. Williams Sr. hired general manager Bob Howsam, who built the Big Red Machine championship teams. The Reds were baseball’s dominant team in the 1970s, a decade during which they won six division titles, four NL pennants and the World Series in 1975 and 1976.

Williams’ father and uncle were minority partners in the ownership of the Baltimore Orioles for two years in the mid-1990s and in the ownership group of the St. Louis Cardinals for the 10 seasons from 1996 through 2005. The Cardinals appeared in the postseason in six of those 10 seasons.

Williams attended the University of Virginia where he was a finalist for the Jefferson Scholar program before being named an Echols Scholar. After graduating from the University of Virginia, Williams worked in investment banking in New York for Morgan Stanley & Co. He worked in the Real Estate group servicing corporate clients as well as working on the firm’s proprietary real estate investment fund. He then relocated to Atlanta to work for what is now called SunTrust Robinson Humphrey as a Vice President in Corporate Finance. Subsequently, he joined an Atlanta-based early stage venture capital fund at inception as a partner, which led to several years of work in the private equity industry.

Williams worked full-time in Washington, D.C., during 2003-04 at the campaign headquarters for the President of the United States. After the campaign, in early 2005, Williams was invited to participate in a bi-partisan U.S. delegation that traveled to Jordan and Egypt to meet with political leaders and social activists.

Williams is an instrument-rated pilot with more than 650 flight hours and more than 800 takeoffs and landings.

Williams is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a designation he achieved while working in investment banking in Atlanta. Among other requirements, charterholders must pass three separate six-hour exams that are only offered once per year. The exams cover a variety of topics including Quantitative Methods (probability and statistics), Economics, Corporate Finance, Accounting, Financial Analysis and Reporting, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management.

Williams is a member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization), a global platform for chief executives to engage, learn and grow.

Williams currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, the Williams Foundation and the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and has served in that capacity in the past for the American Council of Young Political Leaders and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation. A native of Cincinnati, he returned to the city in 2006 to join the Reds and he spends as much time as work permits his wife, their four young children and their dog.
