Objectives of Mechanical Test

• Test the flag to buss joint for maintenance of preload after cycling.

• Test contact resistance with changing preload.• Test contact resistance with load cycling.• Test strength of complete assembly.• Determine critical elements of assembly process.

Data Acquisition

• 2 Hz sample rate.

• MTS Load Cell and Displacement.

• Four washer load cells (on flag bolts).

• Joint resistance (using a 200A source and voltmeter).

• Joint temperature.

• Additional instruments as required.

Mechanical Test Plan

• Cycle flag at expected operating loads based on FEA.

• Cycle flag at high loads with several moment/shear ratios.

• Cycle flag temperature.

• Possible destructive test at FEA based load point.
