The biggest problem that we dealt with last year, and is al- ready popping up this year is that folks either intentionally or inad- vertently click on Pay by Check for their youths enrollment. From there, when Lynda or I go in to review the enrollment for acceptance and we see that, we have to go into a holding pattern until payment for that enrollment arrives in the county office. If you have inadvert- ently clicked the Pay by Check, you can go back into the profile sec- tion and right after the project/groups tab, you can add a credit cardto your profile and switch your payment option to that. This is much faster as the Pay by Check option means we wait for your check, then wait for a check to be cut from the 4-H Council, and then wait for the state office to clear the 4-H council check. I know that the credit card option is not viable for some, and the Pay by Check is fine, but wanted you to be aware of the steps. A second common problem is on the screen where you are doing the parent/youth agreements to participate, families get to the shooting sports question, and leave it blank if their child is not going to be in shooting sports. What you need to do is click on the drop down box and click on the line that says my child will not par- ticipate”. If you are having problems navigating the system, please reach out to us, as we really want to make this as trouble free for you as we can. Dear 4-H Families,

As we launch into a new year, I wanted to offer some clarification about the enrollment process in order to hopefully speed things along. First, I don’t know anyone of us at the county level that “like” 4H online, but it’s the system we have to work with, and want to try and minimize the hassle you’ll experience as you enroll your chil-dren. The biggest problem that we dealt with last year, and is al-ready popping up this year is that folks either intentionally or inad-vertently click on Pay by Check for their youth’s enrollment. From there, when Lynda or I go in to review the enrollment for acceptance and we see that, we have to go into a holding pattern until payment for that enrollment arrives in the county office. If you have inadvert-ently clicked the Pay by Check, you can go back into the profile sec-tion and right after the project/groups tab, you can “add a credit card” to your profile and switch your payment option to that. What you need to do is click on the drop down box and click on the line that says “my child will not par-ticipate”.

If you are having problems navigating the system, please reach out to us, as we really want to make this as trouble free for you as we can. Sincerely, Mike Coffey 4-H Youth Specialist

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

CLUB NEWS

The Mustang Pride 4-H Club held a Chicken Dinner fundraiser in the parking lot of Town and Country grocery store in Anderson on Saturday October 22, 2016. Simmons foods donated 5 cases of chicken legs and thighs in addition the club received a $25 gift certificate for Price Cutter in Neosho and a $50 gift certifi-cate from Wal-Mart in Neosho. The club raised $212.00. We still have enough chicken left over for our awards banquet!

During out meetings we learned about dairy farms, and alternative fuels such as biofu-els. We demonstrated types of biofuels causing chemical reactions in a 16 oz. bottle and could see the carbon dioxide produced by the reaction in a balloon placed on the top of the bottle.
