Year 7 Field TripOn Tuesday the 23rd of September 2014, Year 7 Galileo went on a field trip. We

went to the Blind School called M.C.F.B (Myanmar Christian Fellowship of the Blind). Each person at Blind School has a different story of how they became blind. The school was founded in 1975 and started in 1977. Our first impression of the school was how some blind kids were wearing sunglasses and the school was a bit run down.

Once we got there we were seated in front of a stage. A lady then came and explained the lives of blind people. In the school there are 148 children (80 girls and 68 boys). When blind children first come to the school, they get trained to walk with sticks. They usually need people who can see to help them get around the school. Then they learn Braille. At the age of 10, blind children learn how to cook and do chores. When they reach 11th grade, they get sent to another school.

After we had finished, we got a tour of the school. We even saw a band. We sang songs like "Heal the World" and "We are the World". Year 7 Galileo had lots of fun and we hope for the best for everyone at M.C.F.B!

Year 7 Field TripLast week, our class Galileo went for a field trip to the Myanmar Christian

Fellowship of the Blind. At the school we met the secretary of the school. She explained about those who are blind. We asked them many questions and we were able to understand what's really happening there.

The secretary showed us where they learn how to use a computer. The blind children learn how to type. They also took us to a studio where the blind people were playing instruments and singing. I was amazed that they could play any instrument even though they are blind. They played "Heal the World" for us and we sang along with them.

It was fun being there with the blind people. After our field trip we went back to school. They try a lot to achieve their goals. If blind people try a lot it means that we should try harder too.

Year 7 Field TripOn Tuesday the 23rd of September, we went on a field trip to a blind school.

The blind school is called the Myanmar Christian Fellowship of Blind and it is located in Khaweichan.

First of all, when we walked into the blind school, we could see some children wearing shaded glasses, which means that they were blind. We felt sorry for them. We were also looking around the classes, and we saw the students writing in their books, using the Braille system. Louis Braille actually saved all the blind people from suffering because they can’t communicate, so we are thankful to Braille's system.

In the library, all the books were filled with pages of Braille's system of dots. People had a big and wide metal ruler with small holes, and they would write on a book using the "dots" ruler. When we went in the computer room, a lady showed us how to print with the Braille system. You had to click two letters, and it would appear in Braille system on the screen. We had fun trying it! Lastly, we all met in the music room. The musicians were blind, but they knew how to play music very well. We all sang a couple of songs, including the musicians. They told us how they traveled the world and performed. Then, we went back to school by bus.

What we learned on this field trip: the students use Braille system to read and write, they know every place where they are going by being trained to walk around the whole school with a cane, and that even some of the teachers were blind.
