ANNUAL SURVEY RESULTSThe HUB Annual Survey has been completed! The results are on the link below.

http://www.hublife.ca/Annual%20Survey%20FULL%20Report.pdf

Some highlights: - The demographics of HUB remain similar to past years. Residents of all backgrounds live here for conve-nience. They prefer free food and other practical events / services. The most popular events include subsidized food events like the Sunday Sundae, Block Party and BBQ. Other popular events include IKEA Trips, Bottle Depot and Grocery Bus events. Trips have a moderate average score but larger number of residents choose them as a “Very Desirable” - Demographics: About a third of residents have lived in HUB less than a year. - Residents are divided about the degree of security they feel in HUB, but most residents lock their doors (91% when not at home, 70% when at home).

There were also 8 lucky winners of a $25 gift card from a random draw:

HLT 2013-2014Time to welcome the new HLT team of the 2013-2014 academic term! The HLT composes of 6 elected HCA ex-ecutive members, who will be serving you from May 2013 to April 2014. As well, there will be 6 RAs (Resident Assistants) who will be serving you in the summer and possibly in the academic term!

Do you want to meet these interesting people? Yes you do! Each executive member is in charge of running events and services in HUB, such as me, your VP Communications, in writing this newsletter and making those lovely posters. Then there are the RAs who are in charge of a zone and are there for you whenever you need assistance.

SUMMER PROGRAMMINGHooray for summer!! While you should be relaxing and enjoying that time off from school (assuming you are not taking any school...), you should also be partaking in some of HCA’s summer programming! We have already had a very successful Banff Trip, where residents woke up at the early hours of 5:00 (or they were too excited and didn’t even sleep) and rode a bus to visit the small town of Banff, Alberta.

All events are in the Vault unless otherwise stated. Details are on this page. For any questions contact [email protected]

7 PM | The Vault | Bi-Weekly | Starting June 1st

What do you usually do every other Saturday night? Studying? No! Take a break, come down to the Vault and partake in our Movie Nights! There is always free food and drinks as long as you bring your own uten-sils, and enjoy great quality films on a great HDTV purchased just for you. The first movie shown was Inception, with more great titles to come, by request or decided by the HLT Team! See you there, HUB residents!

Did you know that we don’t allow pets? Yes you do know because you probably don’t have one in your unit. Stop stressing over the fact that you can’t have a pet, and come down to Pet Therapy! Animals are brought in from various places, ranging from larger dogs to small, soft kitties. For a few hours in your life you can pretend that the cute animal you are petting is yours and stop thinking about those other cumber-some things in your life, such as exams or whatever other stress there is.

SUMMER PROGRAMMING

Why are you screaming? Because of ice cream? FREE ice cream? Bought by your lovely HLT friends? Hmm weird that’s never been a thing. Just kidding, it has and it’s the most consistent event in HUB, (be-sides our fire alarms). Come down to the Vault to claim this free ice cream because by now it should be assumed that it’s where everything nice takes place. It happens on Sundays at 7PM, and runs for half an hour so come an hour early and then stay an hour extra talking to your fellow residents.

CAMPING in

BUSINESS QUADAugust 16-17th

One overnight “trip” to the Business Quad, where you do all the uncomfortable camping activities close to your home. Starting at 5PM and ending at 10AM the next day, you’ll wish this trip was a weekly occurance. Too bad it isn’t, so you’ll have to make the most out of these few hours. Thank us for giving you the wonder-ful idea of camping out in random places!
