Dear Ladies of the Saint Anne Women’s Club, As my year as President of the Saint Anne Women’s Club draws to a close, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Club’s general membership and especially to the members of the Board. It has been has been an honor and privilege to serve with such a dedicated and creative group of ladies! You have truly demonstrated and lived our theme of compassion. I cannot thank you enough! This past week, I represented our parish at the ACCW (Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women) Spring Report Meeting. I was proud to share our accomplishments. Some of the highlights of your generosity that I shared include: Donations of school supplies to Saint John Berchmans; gift cards, toiletries, and paper products to Heather’s House; toiletries and toys to Catholic Charities. Organizing and running parish-wide events like the Easter Egg Hunt and the Saint Nick Pancake Breakfast. Knitting over 110 hats and packaging them with cold weather supplies for St. Martin de Porres and the Night Ministry. Organizing, preparing, and serving a meal for the less fortunate at Emmaus House. However, let’s not forget that we had a lot of fun this year too! I made sure to highlight our Christmas Party at Makray, the Ladies’ Luncheon at Incontro A Tavola, the Mother-Son & Mother-Daughter events, and the napkin folding demonstration! I can’t wait to see what we have in store for next year! I wish Kim D’Amore the best of luck as President next year! I know that she will continue the Club’s strong tradition of faith, care and service. I am looking forward to serving with her on the Board for another year of fun and Catholic fellowship. Yours in Christ, Margaret Lortie President, Saint Anne Women’s Club All Saint Anne Women’s Club members are invited to the annual Installation Mass and Dinner on Tuesday, May 12th. Wednesday, April 1, commemorated the 100th Dinner delivered to Jack and Mary Reinhart from a Saint Anne Women’s Club member in thanks-giving for their many years of service to the Saint Anne Community. Anyone who had delivered a meal was invited to join them at their home to enjoy a glass of wine and crackers with cheese before Jack and Mary had their dinner.

The 3rd Annual Egg Hunt was April 6, after the basket blessing, in the grassy area behind the school. We had over 75 children attend the hunt and all had a good timel. The kids received 12+ eggs and every child won a raffl e basket or small prize. The weather was nice, but windy, and Father Bernie gave the blessing to start the gathering of eggs. A special “Thank you”’ goes out to the following people Kathy & Sarah Schiewe, Christy & Tori Rebbeck, Tina Zagroba & Bree, Lauren Kolasinski, Mary McKenna and Sara Roach. We appreciate their help and time!.

On April 14, the Women’s Club held a day meeting in the Hospitality Room. Our ladies brought plenty of frozen chili for our service project at Emmaus House. Attendees enjoyed sandwiches, fruit, and cheesecake. Everyone partici-pated in napkin folding as demonstrated by the executive board. Thank you to Mary McKenna for organizing the lunch. Thank you to Shirley Michelotti, Liz Rodosky, Kim D’Amore, Mary McKenna, and Margaret Lortie for demonstrating many napkin folds includ-ing the fan, the rosebud, and the bishop’s hat. Thane Hall was transformed into a ballet stage, a tea party and a fairy garden factory on April 11th! Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, special friends and the young ladies in their lives were first treated to a ballet performance by Mackenzie Jaekel of the Barrington Youth Dance Ensem-ble. Jaekel, who will portray “Sleeping Beau-ty” at a performance in June, performed a dance from the ballet, fielded questions, and posed for photos with budding ballerinas. Then it was time to feast on tea sandwich-es and petit fours with a variety of fillings, as well as fresh fruit from a teapot-shaped water-melon!

Once tummies were full, the moth-ers and daughters helped each other assemble and arrange fairy gardens using a variety of pixie-sized supplies. The girls had lots of fun creating the perfect home for their fairy friend. Barrington will become known to fairies everywhere as a very hospitable place to live! Special thanks to Margaret Lortie, Mary McKenna, Cathy Sisto and Sara Roach for orga-nizing the event.
