PRESENTATION

Dear Parent;

Please be advised that your child has been assigned a cooking project in Ms. Borom’s 7 th grade math classes. This project is intended to show the students that math (specifically fractions/ratios, customary measurements and proportion) is used in real life. Each

student is assigned to choose a recipe of their choice; this recipe must be brought to class on _____________ for teacher approval. Recipes must be finger foods that do not require heating or refrigeration. Recipes are forbidden to include meat or mayonnaise.

Each recipe must be adjusted to feed 25 people, which means recipes will have to be doubled, tripled, quadrupled or cut in half, for example. Please help your child with the preparation of his/her recipe. Each student must turn in a PowerPoint presentation

including the following information/items:

1. What is the origin of the recipe?

2. Why did you choose the recipe?

3. A copy of the original recipe.

4. The altered recipe ( Feeds 30 students)

5. Illustrations/Explanations of how you altered 2 ingredients

6. Downloaded pictures of student preparing food or appropriate culinary clip-art

Student will present his/her food dish to the entire class on___________________. All food items must be brought to Ms. Borom’s class before 1 st period begins. (Parents may bring in the food during their child’s class period, and they may stay to enjoy

the presentations) All food must be brought to class in a plastic or metal container. ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS CONTAINERS. ABSOLUTELY NO KNIVES. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this activity, then please send written

notice to your child’s teacher by________________. Your child will be given an equally challenging assignment to complete in addition to a Top Chef PowerPoint presentation.
