Getting started• Check the timetable for the first weeks so that you know where to be and when!!!

• Read the Study Programme (= a scheduled curriculum) and the Semester Plan

carefully (under EDUMA’s website / Degree structure)

– All of the courses are not available every year, but generally all the courses are

available at some point in the two-year time period of the programme

• When you get your JYU username and password, create a new study plan template

in Sisu for Master’s Degree Programme in Educational Sciences. Only after this can

you enrol in courses in Sisu. NB! Only the template is needed for course enrolment,

the actual study plan will be constructed and discussed later!

• Check the courses and course timetables in Sisu (note: MyJYU app). In Sisu, you

can find the times & places for classes and other essential information; this is the

place you will be using to enrol in courses. Please check the times & places for

classes before the course starts and also after, because there might be changes!

• The programme’s own orientation course (curriculum code: EDUY1000) has a

workspace in the Moodle learning environment: the course schedule, staff contact

information, This is me introductions etc. info and materials can be found there. When

you’ve first enrolled in the course in Sisu, go to Moodle, log in with your JYU

username & password and in Moodle, search for Moodle code EDUY1000-19

(enrolment key: eduma19)

Enrolling in courses• Sisu instructions and particularly enrollment in courses

• As a basic principle, you will need to enroll in the courses in Sisu!

However, there can be exceptions. Usually you can only enroll in

courses available in the current academic year (so, don’t look for 2nd

year courses yet!)

• Check if you also need to enroll in e.g. a particular small-group

session in addition to the course lectures. Sisu might ask you to

prioritize all the possible small groups in a course – however, check

with the Eduma staff or the course teachers whether you must

choose a particular group, or whether you can actually choose from

all of the groups!

• NB! Courses that are a) offered in the Spring, or b) continue until

Spring: it is commonplace that the Spring schedules are agreed and

added to the course information during Autumn, so don’t panic if you

can’t locate a Spring course just yet!
