The new MESSKO® MSense® x2.5 oil analysis sensor

Oil analysis at its best – accurate results and constant functionality from MESSKO

Oil analysis sensors have one job to do: they make a measurable contribution to extending the service life of cost-intensive oil- and paper-insulated transformers. To do this they require two qualities: robust technology for continuous functional safety and intelligent measurement procedures for reliable values – both of which the new MESSKO® MSense® x2.5 provides.

Intelligent measurement procedure ensures reliable values

Experts all agree that hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and moisture in the insulating oil of power transformers are the primary early indicators of possible damage in the transformer with thermal or electrical causes. The MESSKO® MSense® x2.5 focuses on these early indicators and continuously monitors their concentrations.

The 2-stage measurement procedure used ensures that the results are free from distorting environmental influences. The measurement chamber is flushed with ambient air before each measurement to produce a correct blank value as a starting point for the measurement. Interfering influences are detected and taken into account in the subsequent gas measurement. The gas-in-oil analysis can therefore be based on an accurately determined, non-distorted measurement basis and provides highly accurate results.

Solid housing with robust stainless steel pipe

The solid housing protects the oil analysis sensor from extreme environmental influences. No matter whether used in the Arctic, desert or rainforest, the MESSKO® MSense® x2.5 is perfectly equipped for all climatic conditions. The robust stainless steel pipe provides optimum all-round protection to the sensitive gas extraction and measurement unit. What's more, it's not affected by aggressive ambient conditions and makes possible measurement directly in the transformer's oil flow.

On request, the oil analysis sensor can be supplied with integrated display for reading the measurements and parameterization directly on the device.

Suitable for all applications

The MESSKO® MSense® x2.5 can be integrated directly in the transformer's oil flow via an inlet or retrofitted in an oil loop using a bypass, making installation easy and reliable under all conditions. Alongside the varied installation options, Messko offers its customers extensive oil analyses in the analysis lab and rapid on-site service provided by a worldwide network.

MESSKO® MSeT® software

The intuitive MESSKO® MSeT® parameterization software can be used to define the limit values and the number of measurements per day – not necessarily those set in the factory. Lastly, the software's functions include a comprehensive rights and roles concept.

All hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and moisture concentration measurements can be traced back 4 years using an internal memory. They can be read and saved via a USB port and transferred to MESSKO for further analysis.

The benefits of the MESSKO® MSense® x2.5 at a glance:

· Detects hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and moisture in the oil with precision

· High-precision measurements thanks to semiconductor sensors, capacitive moisture sensor, inert measurement chamber, and new 2-stage measurement procedure

· Robust stainless steel pipe in a variety of lengths to protect the gas extraction and measurement unit

· Practical manual sampling directly at the point of measurement of the oil analysis sensor

· Needs-based parameterization using the MESSKO® MSeT® software provided

The innovative 2-stage measurement procedure is explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U8FqpzR2hE
