WOW… This was a FUN project!

I used 10 of the 10 tips for Mac to complete my collage.

1., 2, & 3. I inserted a fraction and I used word art to describe my family. I also chose a family picture from my photo library to include in my collage. I cropped the picture to resize it and I added a blue boarder. 4. I inserted my Class picture from my hard drive. I sized the picture and added a purple border to highlight it.5. I selected a picture of the world from clipart to enhance my collage to indicate we like to travel as a family.6. & 7. I used text inside the shape I selected to create a collage effect to indicate that I like to read, I teach Kindergarten, I like to travel, and that I’m flexible because the arrows go in all directions!8. I also took a screen shot of my computer screen to indicate that I did not have Internet access as I was trying to create this collage. HA HA… I had to refresh my page several times to get it to work! 9. I added a “footer” to the end of my page as an example of the use of word processing tools.10. For the last challenge I googled National Geographic and cited the link on my collage. I selected a picture of the Travel Magazine to show that I am interested in reading and learning more about the amazing world we live in and I want to share my knowledge with my students and continue to grow as a person!

Five ways that my students could use a collage type project in my Kindergarten class:

1. Students experiment with different font types /sizes and then select letters of the alphabet to match the letters in their name to make a name collage using both upper and lower case letters.

2. To expand on this project they can also choose pictures from clipart to match the letter in their names that correspond to the beginning letter of the picture.

3. Students select five to ten numbers and represent the numbers by grouping pictures from clip art to the corresponding numbers.

4. Students use the insert toolbar to select shapes and type in the name of the shape in a text box to create a shape collage.

5. Students can use word art/words to describe their feelings and make a collage of different emotions.

6. They can then take the project a step further by selecting different colors to represent the various emotions that they selected to express how the emotions make them feel.
