WEEKLY SEWING CLASSES We are pleased to have Susan Godfrey teaching ongoing sewing classes from beginner through advanced.

She teaches in our Northridge store on Mondays and Wednesdays and in our Simi Store on Tuesdays. We

have classes for teens and adults, both private and semi-private, beginning at $25 per class. Please call for

ELLISIMO CLUB - Basics

This class is also open to Unity and Spirit owners.

This Ellisimo Club will focus on the basics of machine embroidery. We’ll explore the

features of the machine and how they can make your embroidery easier and more

beautiful. This class is especially for new (or newer) owners, those who haven't done much

embroidery or for those who want a review of tips and tricks. We’ll also cover embroidery

placement. A supply list will be provided. Class is FREE for machines purchased at Kingdom, all others: $75

FREE MOTION QUILTING—Feathers

Kathy is back with us for a free motion quilting class. This class will be taught using

the HQ16 and Baby Lock Tiara, but feel free to join in even if you don’t have one of

these machines...the techniques are the same. In this class Kathy will focus on

feathers. We will provide the supplies for this class.

PORTABLE PRESSING TRAY AND IRON CADDY

Here’s the perfect combo for class or travel! Make an ironing station from an inexpensive TV tray

(works for your cutting surface, too) and a cute caddy to carry your iron (even when it’s

still hot)! How did you ever get along without these sensational tools! Pattern for the

caddy will be available for advance purchase so you can pre-cut your fabrics before

class. Supply list with cutting instructions available when you sign up for class.

SERGER BASICS

Do you have a new serger that you need to get to know or one that’s been living in the closet for

longer than you care to admit? In this class learn to operate a serger while experimenting with

different ways to use the basic four serger stitches. All serger brands are welcome! Class is FREE

for those who purchase their sergers at Kingdom.

Make a pillow case, drawstring bag and pajama pants. Kits are available for the first two

projects and yardage for the pajama pants will be given on first day of class. See the

Quick & Easy Classes With Kathy Habring - Kathy’s got three more fast and fun projects for your Thursday evenings:

In July make a so simple Burrito Style Pillow Case. These are quick and a lot of fun. Make them up

to match you room décor, or have fun with themed or holiday fabrics. Kathy will also show you some

great options to “gussy up” your pillow case.

In August get creative! Kathy will teach you how to make your own whimsical fabric, which you’ll

use to make a Topsy Turvy Zippered Bag . Make these in different sizes to fit whatever you’ve got to

In September gear up for the holidays! Make a holiday themed Table Topper & Coasters. These are perfect to dress up

Anita Goodesign Embroidery With Jim

Here are some more fun projects for winter. With your embroidery machine, make a

lovely set of coasters for your Christmas parties. These are all done in the hoop! You

can also deck your halls with carefree winter characters, framed in mini embroidery

hoops. Choose both classes or just one!

Applique Nativity - Learn how to create an Anita Goodesign “Tile Scene”. Susan provides

tips for machine embroidered appliqué, and perfect alignment when assembling your wall

hanging, as well as for backing and binding.

Holiday Table Topper

This project was so popular the last time we offered it that we’ve

brought it back. Susan will teach this variation of a log cabin block, for you to embellish with

embroidery designs of your choice...great for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and/or Christmas. Or, use

that fabric with the printed motifs that’s been hanging out in your stash just waiting for the right

project.

The American Sewing Guild (ASG) meets each month at both Kingdom stores. This group is a national non-profit organization dedicated to people who believe sewing is a rewarding and creative activity. Chapters promote sewing in local communities through encouragement, education and support. They also host social events such as fashion shows and sewing fairs and many do sewing related service projects for the community. Check the calendar page for details on time and location. TWO WORKSHOPS THIS QUARTER!

In the first, we will focus on embellishing clothing using heat applied vinyl. Bring a t-shirt to class and take home

a cute piece of wearable art! You’ll learn tips and tricks, review different kinds of heat vinyl available and how to

get great results with your Cameo cutter.

In the second, we will show you how to create etched glass projects. You can

make wonderful, personalized holiday gifts with etched glass—from candle holders

to bake ware, vases to picture frames. It’s easier than you think!

Remember: bring a completed project using the last class technique (cutting fabric -July, heat applied vinyl -

September) and be entered into a drawing for a nice prize. A short supply list will be sent prior to class.

Class fee $10 and kit fee $5 for each class.
