Happy New Year From the Round Bobbin! I can’t believe it’s 2015! Where does the time go? It seems like yesterday I was sitting down to write this letter for 2014! Time flies when you’re having fun, right? And we did have fun here at the Bobbin! We met many new faces and watched lots of great projects become reality! Hopefully, you all enjoyed the year as much as we did. So now it’s time to look ahead at what’s coming next. And speaking of looking ahead, don’t miss our Winter/Spring Class Preview Pay which is quickly approaching! Join us on Saturday, January 24 as we preview all the planned new classes for the next session. I think the line-up will once again please and excite you. At this time the 10:30 session is full, but there are spots left in the 1:30 show! Call or come in now to reserve your seat. If you’ve never taken a class, now is the time! Not only will you come away from it having learned something new, but you’ll also just love the friendships you gain in the process. There’s nothing better than spending an afternoon, evening or whole day with people who share your passion! I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people come through the door and say “It’s a good day for sewing!” In my book, any day is a good day for sewing and to share it with others is the best!! Start by taking our excellent beginning quilting class, “Let’s Get Started” with Peggy Beerer! The girls who have taken her class walk away as great friends (one group even gets together to sew outside the shop)! Besides the classes we also have some exciting new Block of the Month programs planned for early 2015! I think there’s something for everyone’s taste! Surf and Sand - designed by our very own Gina Gempesaw for Quilting Treasures is a contemporary quilt with or without simple appliquéd arcs. Surf is a “cool” version with shades of blues and greens and Sand is a “warm” version with shades of reds and yellows. This will start February 1. We also will start A Prairie Gathering on February 1. This is a 12-month program. It is a wonderful blend of traditional deep red and beige prints in a gorgeous 88” x 100” medallion quilt design. And beginning April 1 we will present Country Crossroads. Nancy Rink has come up with another winner with her fabric line “Point Pleasant.” Country Crossroads combines easy appliqué and piecing for a stunning design! And I can’t believe we’ve already completed our first $5 quilt program, Fab 5! We just wrapped it up this past weekend, and everyone seemed to really enjoy it! I can’t wait to see all those finished quilts! We are going to do another one, and we will present it on Saturday, March 21, which, by the way, happens to be National Quilting Day. Once again, there will be two color ways and once again, you’ll pay just $5!! But that’s all I’m going to tell you right now! Join us in March as we present the program to you and celebrate quilting at the same time! There will be goodies and surprises so stay tuned! In fact, just stay tuned for much, much more! Block of the Month

Country CrossroadsLong, leisurely summer afternoons, cold lemonade by the shore, horse drawn carriages: these images of a more innocent time

in a slower paced world are the inspiration for the Pointe Pleasant collection by Nancy Rink for Marcus Fabrics.Nancy’s Country Crossroads is a gorgeous medallion style

Block of the Month quilt made from the Pointe Pleasant collection. It features a combination of piecing and applique. The applique shapes are

large and easy, lending themselves to simpler applique techniques by hand or machine.

This is a 9-month program begins in April 2015. Included in this program are the pattern and fabrics needed to complete the quilt top

and binding. The finished quilt size measures 100” x 100”.To reserve your spot, pay the registration fee of

$26.95 plus tax which includes Month 1. Thereafter, payment of $26.95 plus tax is due a month

in advance. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Surf and SandThis 10-month program, designed by our own Gina Gempesaw for Quilting Treasures, is available in the SURF (Cool shades of blues and greens) OR SAND (Warm shades of reds and yellows) colorways.Coming soon will be our fabulous SURF sample that shows simple appliquéd arcs for a fun, modern and unique quilt! Gina’s pattern allows for the applique to be completely optional and you create a slightly different version.

Every month, you will receive directions and enough fabric to create a portion of the quilt. Fabrics and directions to complete this 85” square quilt top and binding are included in the program.

Surf and Sand begins February 2015. To reserve your spot, pay the registration fee of $21.95 plus tax which includes Month 1. Thereafter, payment of $21.95 plus tax is due a month in advance.

Block of the Month

A Prairie GatheringBlock of the Month Program

This 12-month program, designed by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts, is a wonderful blend of traditional deep red and beige prints

in a gorgeous 88” x 100” medallion quilt design. The strong, resolute women of the turn of the century who used

their humble needles and thread to fight for what they believed in inspired this quilt. Short anecdotal historical paragraphs are

included each quarter about the Soldier’s Aid Society, U.S. Sanitary Commission, Temperance Union, and the popularity of Signature

Quilts for special occasions and fundraising.Fabrics and directions to create the quilt top and binding are

included in this program. You will create various portions of the entire quilt throughout the monthly chapters. Construction of the

quilt is ongoing with new borders added periodically to the medallion rounds, giving a great sense of fulfillment and

accomplishment as the months go by. (Note that the pattern is organized into 3 monthly chapters per quarter.)

A Prairie Gathering begins February 2015. To reserve your spot, pay the registration fee of $27.95 plus tax

which includes Month 1. Thereafter, payment of $27.95 plus tax is due a month in advance.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
