Hopefully the Ground hog was correct, Spring is just a few weeks away…..The warm, wet winter has brought us some great days to play golf and if your goal was to play each month this sea-son you had no problem at all finding days. Daylight savings time will occur on Sunday, March the 8th, this is the first sign indicator that the golf season will be starting soon with longer days and short nights. Now is the time to get ready for the season, the golf shop offers club regripping (check out the new grips from Golf Pride, RoseMark, Pure & Winn) club fitting and don’t forget to change out those spikes.

The 2020 PGA Show: What’s new & great for 2020New apparel will be arriving weekly from Adidas, Under Armour, Straight Down & Donald Ross and ladies apparel from Adidas, Callaway & Kate & Lord. There are exciting new shoes from Adidas, Ladies Foot-Joy, Callaway and huge improvements from Under Armour. Equipment was the talk of the town at the PGA Show, Callaway’s Mav-erick line of woods and irons, Mac Daddy 5 Jaws wedges, Taylor Made’s SIM irons and woods, Titleist’s TS Metals, Vokey SM8 wedges & new irons. The New Scotty Cameron Special Select Putters are awesome, the new Titleist AVX (softest ever) Tour Soft, Velocity & TruFeel Golf Balls all launched at the show, plus the Ping (G410 Metals & Irons) continue their dominance at a lower price. Demo Days will be posted on the website and in the golf shop along with Titleist & Cleveland Wedge Clinics and putter (fitting days). We will have the tournament booklet ready to go soon or you can check out all things on the clubs website, www.hamiltonelksgolfclub.com, just login to the member area.

The 2020 PGA Show was (cold) packed full of new equipment, new apparel, accessory items and cool technology pertaining to launch monitors and teaching tools. We picked up a new training tool called Orange Peel FX. The fitness and training program is great and it is a tough workout for your core. This past winter, we saw the launch of new items from Callaway (The Maverick), Taylor Made (The SIM) and Cobra (The SpeedZone), plus new items from Cleveland, Mizuno and Tour Edge. The golf shop will carry an array of these items this year, plus some new acces-sories. We will continue to match or beat all competitors pricing, plus we never charge for club fittings, so if you want to try to latest and greatest, just call Sean or Bob and schedule your fitting. DON’T FORGET, we do accept TRADES. We will be closing out all remaining items in the golf shop from the 2019 season, so stop by for the best pricing on men’s and ladies apparel, golf shoes and outerwear up to 60% off during the month of March, most items are $35 and under.

World Handicap SystemThe World Handicap System took effect on January 6th this year, the GCGA will begin the WHS on March 15th in our area. The club will inactivate all members the first week of March, if you have paid your GHIN already this season we will reactivate immediately. The score posting season will begin on the 15th of March and go through No-vember 15th. Here are answers to some of your questions about the new World Handicap System. 1. A new player needs (3) 18 hole scores to establish an index. The index is calculated by averaging a player’s 8 best score differentials out of their most recent 20. The maximum handicap index for all golfers will be 54.0. Nine hole handicap indexes will no longer exist. A players handicap index will update on a DAILY basis provided the player submitted a score the day before.2. Maximum Hole Score or Net Double Bogey – each player will be limited to a Net Double Bogey. Double Bogey + handicap strokes received based on their course handicap.3. Exception Score Reduction (ESR) – when a player submits a score that produces a score differential of 7.0 strokes or more below their handicap index they will be subject to ESR.4. Course Handicap = Handicap Index x (Slope rating / 113) + (Course rating – Par).

These are a few of the WHS changes; you can call the shop with questions or visit the USGA website for more infor-mation.

Indoor Practice Area: The indoor practice area is open; you can practice anytime on the monitor, the fee is $20 for ½ hour or $30 for a full hour. Our monitor is an ES16 unit producing the same numbers as TRACKMAN. Now is the time to knock the rust off the clubs and get ready for the season, lessons are available at our indoor facility Call the golf shop for pricing and packages.

Practice Range & Locker room renewals Now is the time to renew your range membership and locker for the 2020 - 2021 seasons, you can stop by the office or drop your payment off in the golf shop. I know we don’t have bag storage, but having a full locker is a great way to store your clubs in a warm, safe environment and you don’t have to worry about your clubs getting damaged in your trunk.

Locker Rates: Full Locker - $50 Half Locker - $35** Locker Room access is free with Golf Membership

Junior Golf Membership for 2020Our Junior Golf Membership is one of the best values for juniors in the area. The Elks Junior Golf Membership is a great way to introduce your junior to this great game. The juniors have access to the club any day of the week and on the weekends/holiday after 1:00pm. Our membership is only $400 plus tax and you can purchase our annual range membership for $195. Your 2019 Junior Membership ends on March 31st.

2020 PGA Junior Golf LeagueThe Hamilton Elks will again host a team for the PGA Jr. League. The club is already signed up and you can register your son or daughter on their website, www. pgajlg.com/register. Please call the golf shop for more information and the password for our members to register is Hamelks. We will be sending out an email detailing the program very soon.

Permanent Tee Times for 2020The staff is in the process of setting up permanent tee times for the 2020 season. If you would like to keep your current time from 2019 or interested in changing for 2020 please contact the golf shop or email Bob Ries at [email protected]. Permanent tee times begin the first Saturday in April and will go until the last Sunday in September. There will be a few new rules for the upcoming season, especially pertaining to no shows and tee time cancellations. Information will go out about the new guidelines in March.

GHIN Handicaps – 2020 SeasonAll members will be deactivated from the Ghin System the first week of March. The fee to re-establish your GHIN membership this season is $35; if you are down south for the winter, please give us a call and we can reactivate your membership over the phone. The posting season begins on March 15th and ends on November 15th.

Greens Committee ReportSignificant progress has been made on the tree removal project, with weather through the end of March being the determining factor in whether the full list planned for removal this year is achieved. Stumps will be removed where trees were in play, and as the Spring weather arrives those areas will be seeded or sodded along with the areas around tees affected by the removal of tee accessories and landscaping. Background information about those two projects is available for review in the pro shop. The Green Committee meets at 6PM the first Wednesday of each month and members are welcome to attend. Alternatively, please feel free to speak directly with any of the committee members or email us at: [email protected]. Greens Committee members: John Turner, Matt Hin-kel, Jared Wolever, Toni Soule & Tom Smith.

SEPTEMBER 2015 Hamilton Ohio Lodge No. 93 B.P.O. Elks

HELLO FELLOW ELKS:

Believe it or not, Fall is almost here and alongwith that comes some of the best golf weather ofthe year! Make sure you get out and enjoy yourgolf course. While you’re at it, bring a friend andshare the experience. Maybe they would like tobecome a member also.

On Saturday August 15th, Don Bickel, DennyNoggle and I attended the Elks State Fall Reunion (convention) inDublin, Ohio. During the Saturday morning business meeting wepresented checks to the state for ENF from the Hamilton lodge in theamount of $3,000.00.

During the meetings, there was a heavy emphasis on increasingmembership and becoming involved with the local community.Membership, I’ve been harping on all year and I’ll continue to ask eachand every one of you to please recruit new members. It will only helpmake our lodge stronger in the long run and benefit everyone.Community involvement, there are more grants available to us than wetake advantage of. There are grants for help to local Police, Fire, EMT,and community along with scholarships, etc. I’d like to see us takeadvantage of these offerings but we can’t do it alone. If you would beinterested in volunteering to learn more and helping with any of theseprojects, please let me or any of the Board members know.

Board of Directors meeting will be held at 6 pm and Lodge meeting at7 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of September.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2015We are coming into the time of year where the Elks 93 newsletter will only be published every other month; so I want to mention several things that will be happening at the lodge during the November/December holiday season.

Remember that November 11 is Veterans Day. The Elks Grand Lodge has proclaimed the month of November as Veterans Recognition Month. We have several Veterans that are members of our lodge and to them I say “Thank you for your service.” Along with every other veteran that has served our country.

Since this newsletter will also cover December; I want to make sure everyone is aware that our lodge will conduct our “Empty Chair” memorial service on Sunday afternoon December 6 at 1:00 o’clock. This service is a memorial to our brethren who departed this life in 2015.

Breakfast with Santa Claus will be at the Lodge on Saturday December 12 at 9:30 a.m. Make sure to take a break from the Holiday rush and bring the kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews so they can make sure Santa knows what is on their list before heading back to the North Pole. The Elks will provide Breakfast this year at no charge. Please contact Margaret in the lodge office on or before Monday December 7th to make your reservations so we’ll know how many to plan for.

Don’t forget to buy your tickets for the Elks New Year’s Eve Party! $150.00 per couple includes Live Music by “Stays in Vegas”, Appetizers, Buffet Dinner, Desert, Open Bar, and Champagne toast at midnight and a snack at 12:30 a.m. Sliver Tee will donate $20.00 per ticket back to the lodge. Purchase your tickets in the lodge office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call Margaret at 513-887-4380 Ext. 14.

Finally, as we close out 2015 I want to personally thank the members of Hamilton Lodge #93 for your help and support. 2015 has been a great year for our lodge. Let’s keep the momentum going and make 2016 even better!

Board of Directors meeting will be held at 6 pm and Lodge meeting at 7 pm on the second Tuesday of November and December.
