He had with him guest speaker Howard Ahern from Plumberex. I would like to thank these gentlemen for a job well done and for helping to support their local ASPE Chapter. Hopefully everyone who attended walked away with a better understanding on the new ASTM E 84 requirements for under-lavatory pipe coverings. Information in the form of handouts were made available at the meeting. These handouts were distributed to our members via E-mail for those who could not attend the meeting. If you did not receive them and would like a copy please let me know and I can forward them to you. If you are interested in a tabletop for any of our upcoming meetings, we have openings available. If you are interested please contact John Griffin at [email protected] . The updated Cleveland Chapter Plumbing Handbook for 2009-2010 is ready for distribution to our members and will be available at the March meeting. If you or a representative of your firm is planning on attending the meeting this would be a perfect opportunity to pick up your Handbook as well as for your fellow members. This will save the Chapter the expense of having to mail them out. If you cannot attend the meeting, a copy of the Handbook will be mailed out to you. The update you receive will be shrink-wrapped and replaces the contents in your current binder. If your existing binder is not in that good of shape and needs to be replaced please let me know and we can get you a new one. If you are a new member and do not currently have a Handbook, you will be receiving a complete Handbook with binder. 2:00 PM ET

Sponsored by

Registration will close March 17th at 6PM ET

Earn Continuing Education Credits: This one-hour contact program provides 0.1 CEU or 1.0 PDH.

Only attendees who are registered for this webinar will receive CEU / PDH Credit.

From the President (Continued): there were many items left that were never given away. The left over prizes were distributed to various Chapters across the country. Our Chapter was in receipt of 4 large boxes full of travel bags, multi-purpose tools etc. Our Membership Drive is being extended through the month of March and these prizes are up for grabs. All members who bring a non-member guest to the meeting will both be eligible for a prize. The cost for dinner for all non-member guests attending is $20 (a savings of $4). Our goal is to introduce Engineers and Designers to ASPE in hopes that they see the benefits and consider joining. How about a chance to win a brand new Garmin GPS portable navigation system? Encourage membership and Sponsor a new ASPE member. Both you as well as the newly sponsored member will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the GPS system. For an even greater chance at winning we will throw one extra entry to the sponsor who can draw the most new members. This membership drive is open to all ASPE members including Chapter Board members. To qualify please send me a copy of the completed membership application (available on the ASPE Website at www.aspe.org) via E-mail at [email protected], or if applying online a copy of the application confirmation. Be sure that all information is entered correctly and that the sponsor’s name is indicated on the application. The GPS unit will be awarded to one lucky member at our meeting on April 8th. Good Luck! For those in attendance feeling a wee bit Irish, wear a bit of green to the next meeting and your name will be entered in a lucky Leprechaun hat for a chance to win a prize as well! I was a little surprised at the lack of participation last month for the membership drive! Hopefully we will have more participation this Month from our members. It’s hard to believe that after this month’s meeting we will be down to our last two meetings of the fiscal year! At this time we are accepting nominations for all of the Chapter Board positions. We are on the lookout for individuals who would like to help out the local Chapter. Within the Newsletter you will find an insert which describes the duties of the various board member positions. Please read them over and seriously think about becoming involved. If you are interested please let me know. A few hours a month at a minimum is all it would take to help out. Trust me you will be glad you did. It’s a great experience. Please visit the Cleveland Chapter website at www.clevelandaspe.org for the latest Chapter information as well as current and past Newsletters. Reminder: We need to provide an accurate head count to Harry’s Steakhouse for those who will be attending the next Plumbing Training Session. Please send in your RSVP via email to Kevin Noble at [email protected] no later than noon on Friday, March 6th. If you do not RSVP by this time, we cannot guarantee that a meal or handout will be reserved for you. Michael Drab President, Cleveland Chapter

Press Release February 23, 2009

Cleveland, OH

The commercial buildings of today are being set to a much higher standard when it comes to energy consumption, system efficiency, and operational cost savings. “LEED”, “Green Buildings”, “Sustainable Design”, and “Optimal Efficiency” have become widely accepted as design and operational guidelines for most HVAC systems. As system designers, installers, and operators, it is important to recognize the need of optimizing the hydronic heating system in conjunction with the rest of the building.

Do you know and fully understand the best procedures for engineering your next boiler system? How about the proper ways of piping, venting, or controlling your boiler? Do you want to decrease your boiler system’s operational costs, increase your boiler’s life expectancy, and drive up your heating system’s overall efficiency, all at the same time? Are you still designing or operating your hydronic heating system the same way you were 5, 10, or even 20 years ago?

The “Boilers and Hydronic Heating Systems” training course by Pipeline Development Company has been designed to address all of these issues and has recently been regarded as “the best nuts and bolts training” in the industry. This in-depth commercial HVAC systems training class has been designed for the intermediate and advanced system engineer, designer, installer, and operator. If you work with old boilers, new boilers, big or small boilers, or you simply work with the system that the boiler has been integrated with, then this class is for you.

With 100% unbiased curriculum, this training course encompasses the entire system without soliciting or promoting any particular manufacturer or product. Roberts Mechanical, a local equipment manufacturer’s representative firm, is excited to bring this class to the Cleveland area as a service to the local industry. The need for non-product specific training has been recognized and requested by many professionals in and around Cleveland.

This two-day, interactive, hands-on training class, taking place on March 25th and 26th, is not merely a 16-hour lecture. The class comes complete with a comprehensive training manual, which includes multiple training chapters and worksheets, and offers hands-on system design and efficiency upgrade workshops. Not only will you obtain 16-hours of certified continued educational credits, but you’ll also experience the best HVAC systems training around!

For more information, please call Roberts Mechanical at (216) 587-0005, or visit their website at www.robertsmech.com. You can also contact Pipeline Development Company directly at [email protected] or review the class summary, fees, and agenda by visiting www.pipelinedevco.com/event0325.
