A “skyline” of silhouetted crosses: Material: paper plates, construction paper, watercolors, scissors, glue. Ask your kids to imagine the sky behind the crosses in Jerusalem the day Jesus was crucified. Then ask them to imagine what it might have looked like on Easter morning, with the crosses empty. Have them paint a paper plate to represent what they imagined. While it dries, trace a ‘skyline’ of three empty crosses on Golgotha onto black construction paper and cut it out. Use the opportunity to talk through the Passion. Why were there three crosses? Who was crucified with Jesus? Did his companions deserve to die? Did Jesus? Did either of the thieves repent? What does this teach us about the forgiveness of God? Is there anything that cannot be forgiven? Once the plate is dry, attach the construction paper to the plate and display.

Tema - La Pasión de la Misión de Cristo Esta misión se enfoca en concreto en la pasión y muerte de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Pero a pesar de que los días se gastan en nuestro propio pecado y el sufrimiento de Cristo, no se acaba ahí porque somos un pueblo de la resurrección. Estamos llamados a viajar con Cristo a través de todo esto, pero debemos mirar la resurrección de nuestra esperanza o somos un pueblo muerto. Esta misión se llevara a cabo en tres noches y comienza con la Última Cena. Movimiento de los participantes será una parte esencial de la misión y su camino a la resurrección. Duración: 1-1.5 horas cada noche.

Fray Brian Guadalupe Walker, O.P. El P. Walker nació en Chicago y fue educado por el sistema escolar de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago. Obtuvo una licenciatura en teología de la Universidad de Loyola en Chicago y continuó sus estudios de seminario donde obtuvo un M. Div. de la Unión Teológica Católica en Chicago con Especialización de la Misión. El P. Walker entró la vida religiosa en 1978 y fue profesado el 9 de Agosto de 1980. Fue ordenado al sacerdocio el 15 de marzo de 1986 por el Obispo J. Terry Steib, SVD, Obispo Jubilado de Memphis y lleva varios años en las misiones de México. El P. Walker ha pasado la mayor parte de sus años sacerdotales trabajando en barrios y parroquias bilingües desde Los Ángeles a Chicago y muchos otros lugares en medio. Ha impartido clases de costa a costa en trabajando en configuración bilingüe y tolerancia y comprensión en el ministerio. Siendo un miembro de la Orden de Predicadores, conocido popularmente como los Dominicos, el P. Walker pasa tiempo extenso predicando sobre cómo podemos mejorar nuestras vidas y desarrollar nuestras relaciones con todo el pueblo de Dios. Estamos llamados a ser hermanos y hermanas entre sí. Tenemos que romper los muros que nos dividen y nos impiden nuestro objetivo.

Our parish mission will consist of a three-evening series of inspirational talks given within a service of prayer, scripture readings and song. The theme of the Mission will be "No Greater Love or Mercy: Reflections on the Seven Last Words of Jesus.” WHY are we having a Parish Mission? To renew our faith. To contribute to the spiritual life of our parish. To respond to God invitation call to draw ever closer to Him. To grow in our appreciation of God’s marvelous love. To learn how to be better instruments of God’s kingdom of love, justice, and peace in our troubled world. WHEN & WHERE is the Parish Mission? The Mission will take place at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park.

WHO will be leading the Mission? Franciscan Friar Johnpaul Cafiero, a native of New York/New Jersey, will lead our Parish Mission. Father Johnpaul has doctorates in theology and psychology, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. He is a teacher and retreat director, international preacher, counselor and teacher on both the high school and university levels, and the former Vocation Director for his Order. He currently is a Chaplain of the Illinois State Police. WHO should attend the Mission? Every adult parishioner, as well as family, friends, and neighbors, are encouraged to attend. This Mission will touch the heart of EVERYONE!

sponsored annually by the HFCS Parent-School Association, is enjoyed by students in

TAX CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP UPDATES: Now that many families have completed step one of the Empower Illinois scholarship application process, we wanted to share some updates and reminders about the next steps in this process. • Extended 7-day Application Window-The emails with each unique application link will be sent on a rolling basis to

parents over the next several weeks, beginning early next week. The application link will be sent from empowerillinois@tads.com. We know that as parents and guardians you have very busy schedules, so we have extended the window to complete your application and submit documents to 7 DAYS from when you receive the link.

Please note: Because all scholarships are subject to the availability of funds, we will not be able to tell an individual family or applicant their place in line. We will also not be able to provide the date range within which a family or applicant will receive the application email.

Baptisms: Pre-baptism Class is required before your date will be set. Please register two to three months in advance.

Weddings: Spiritual Preparation begins at least SIX months in advance. Do not make your reservations until you have met with the pastor.
