• To continue steam delivery, return the switch to its originalposition.

• Iron only on supports that are heat resistant and which allowthe steam to permeate.

• When placing the iron on its stand, make sure that the surfaceon which the stand is placed, is stable.

• If the iron rest mat needs to be replaced, only use originalspare parts.

• The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface.• Do not place the hot appliance on heat-sensitive surfaces.• If ironing whilst sitting down, take care to ensure that the jet of

steam is not angled towards your legs. Steam can scald. • Before connecting the appliance to the current, ensure that

ter and 50% demineralised water which is wi-dely available to purchase. Do not use puredemineralised water.Warning: check the hardness of the water atthe technical office at your local council orthe local water supplier. If you only use tap water, you can reduce theformation of limescale by using the specialKalstop limescale product, distributed by Pol-ti, and available for sale at all major domestic-appliance stores and online at www.polti.com.Never use distilled water, rain water or watercontaining additives (e.g. starch, perfumes),or water produced by other domestic ap-pliances, by water softeners or filter jugs. 2. IRON TEMPERATURE ADJUST-MENTBefore ironing an item of clothing, alwayscheck the symbols on its label, for the instruc-tions provided by the manufacturer. Check, based on the following table, the mostappropriate type of ironing:

3. STEAM IRONING3.1 Make sure that chapter 1 has been comple-ted and regulate the temperature of the iron(7) as described in chapter 23.2 Wait for the “Steam Ready” indicator light

and “Iron Heating” indicator light to turnoff.3.3 Adjust the steam flow by turning the knobin a clockwise direction to increase the jet ofsteam (8). Turning it in an anticlockwise direc-tion reduces the steam flow.

3.4 Press the steam button (9) on the iron tomake steam come out of the holes on the pla-te. Releasing the button, the flow stops. Pro-ceed to iron the garments.3.5 To have a continuous jet of steam movethe button forward (10). The steam will conti-nue to come out even when the button is re-leased. To interrupt the supply, move the but-ton backward (10).

4. VERTICAL IRONINGIt is possible to use the iron vertically to remo-ve creases from fabrics and/or to freshen upthe fibres, eliminating possible residualodours.Hold the iron vertically, push the steam button(8) and touch the fabric slightly with the sole-plate, if the type of fabrics allows it.

5. DRY IRONING5.1 Ensure that Chapter 1 has been followed, keeping the boiler switch turned off, adjustingthe temperature of the iron (7) as describedin Chapter 2.

6. OUT OF WATERThe lack of water in the boiler is identified bythe out-of-water light coming on .

WARNING: Never fill the boiler as soon asthe safety cap has been opened when theboiler is still hot, even if the appliance is un-plugged from the mains. On contact withthe hot, empty boiler, cold water will evapo-rate producing a spray of steam which cancause burns. Only fill the boiler when coldand always keep your face away from theboiler mouth when filling.

WARNING: When first operating steam, the-re may be some drops of water mixed withthe steam due to temperature imbalances.Direct the first jet of steam onto a rag.

When ironing dry, pay attention not to pressthe steam button, since water could leakfrom the plate.

The indicator lights “Iron heating” and“Steam ready” turn on and off during use. This indicates that the electrical resistor hasstarted to work to keep the pressure of theboiler steady. This is a normal occurrence, and it is therefore possible to continue iro-ning.

Divide the laundry according to the symbolson the garment labels or according to thekind of fabric. Always start ironing with thegarments that require the lowest tempera-ture, in order to reduce the waiting timesand avoid the risk of burning the fabrics.

ATTENTION: For low temperature we do notrecommend the use of steam since watercould come out from the holes on the sole-plate. For medium temperature alternate theuse of steam and dry ironing to avoid waterleaking from the holes on the soleplate.

High temperature – cotton, linen:Set the iron temperature adjustment knob

to the position •••

Medium temperature – wool, silk:Set the iron temperature adjustment knob

to the position ••

Low temperature – synthetic, acrylic, ny-lon, polyester:Set the iron temperature adjustment knob

checking that it is completely closed.

7. GENERAL MAINTENANCEBefore carrying out any maintenance on thedevice, always unplug it from the powermains making sure that the product has coo-led down before proceeding. To clean the outside of the appliance, only usea damp cloth and tap water.Do not use detergents of any type.Clean the iron soleplate when it is completelycold with a damp cloth or with a non-abrasivesponge.For good maintenance of the boiler we sug-gest using Kalstop, the special natural-base li-mescale, distributed by Polti, and available forsale at all major domestic-appliance storesand online at www.polti.com.

8. KALSTOPRegular use of Kalstop, every time in the boi-ler is filled with water:- Extends the life of the appliance.- Allows emission of a “drier” steam- Prevents limescale build up.- Protects the walls of the boiler.- Contributes to saving energy.

HOW TO USE KALSTOP

8.1 Open the phial and pour half the contentsinto the Vaporella boiler filled previously withwater.8.2 Start ironing the garments.

ORDINARY MAINTENANCEEvery 2 months, rinse the boiler with tap wa-ter: the rinse water will be brown, indicatingthat the Kalstop is working correctly.

EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE WITHKALSTOPWhen the boiler has heavy limescale build-up,leave just 250 ml of water in the boiler, add 3doses of Kalstop, pressurize the boiler andpress the steam control button until thesteam stops. Turn off the appliance, wait atleast 2 hours until it is completely cool, rinsethe boiler repeatedly to remove all limescaleresidue. After cleaning the boiler, proceednormally. Kalstop is sold in packages of 20 phials athousehold appliance stores, at Polti authori-zed service centres and at www.polti.com.

9. STORAGE9.1 Turn off the appliance and disconnect fromthe mains electricity.9.2 Wait for the appliance to cool down comple-tely before storing it.

WARNING: Steam. Risk of scalding!

When the water is particularly hard, usegreater concentrations (up to one phial perlitre of water).

WARNING: If, while unscrewing, the capspins freely or if steam is escaping, immedia-tely stop the operation, ensuring that theboiler is switched off and the power cable isunplugged from the mains. Wait for the ap-pliance to cool for at least (2 hours) and un-screw the cap. PROTECT YOUR FACE!!!
