Making Waves - Breaker NOVEMBER 2016 Edition From the Head Coach: Head Coaches Report Well done to all who competed at last week’s 7-10 Championship representing Metro North. All swimmers acquitted themselves well. Of note was the performance of Amelie Vulich who won gold in the 9-year- old 50m Backstroke. My last swimmer to win that event was Hayley Baker back in 2004. Hayley has since once gone on to represent Australia in the 2015 World Championships in the 200m Backstroke. Also, a huge congratulation to Katie Grounds, who was our sole representative at the 2016 Australian Open Short Course Championships. Apart from stretching poolside with Mack Horton, warming up in Cameron McEvoy’s lane and sharing the marshalling room with Bronte Campbell, Katie swam magnificently to record a personal best time and was the 16 th placed Australian. Meet Roster

It was with great pleasure that EC Waves accepted a grant for $1,320 from the Bendigo Bank last Wednesday evening.   The funds will go towards purchase of 4 new Auto-coach timers and assist in our efforts to hold ‘mini meets’ with other competitive clubs in the area. The committee has worked hard to vitalize the relationship with the Bendigo Bank and look forward to having them on board and further involved in club events.    I am pleased to report that we had one of the biggest contingents in attendance on the night, and our young swimmers represented EC Waves with incredible professionalism.

Jackie Bianco-HillCommittee Rep.

Thanks and Congratulations must go to Jackie HILL for her hard work, time and effort in obtaining this grant for our club.

EC Waves - THE BAND! Some of our SP swimmers have decided to come together and

create……. THE EC WAVES BAND!

You may not have been aware of how many talented musicians we have at our club, but you will soon find out! The idea is for the Band to perform a couple of times a year, probably at the Christmas Party and Presentation night. The swimmers have already allocated many of the roles, so singer, Sax, and drums are taken. but if you are in JSA or above, able to read music, play your instrument well and would like to be involved, please let, Ruby, Nathan or Cambel know and they will make sure they keep you in the loop regarding rehearsals. (There won’t be too many and will most likely be slotted in before training times). Guitar players are especially needed. Or, if you can’t catch the Band at training, you can give Tammi a call on 0410698001 if you need more info.
