Proppants
During the Hydraulic Fracturing process, a granular material called Proppant is transported within the fluid to fill the fracture, therefore “propping” it open once the high-pressure pumping stops. The fractures, now filled by Proppant, create a permeable channel through which the hydrocarbons can flow more freely, thereby increasing both production rates and the amount of oil or gas actually recovered from the well.
Proppant is a granular material, usually sand, that is mixed with the fracture fluids to hold or prop open the created fractures in order to allow gas to flow to the well.
Sand and sand-based materials became the most popular type of proppant due to availability and low cost.

Proppants
Proppants have been one of the most dynamic products in the North American market over the past decade, with sale increases outperforming most other industrial sectors.
Proppants are a relatively simple product, as most of the volume used is raw sand, but they have been critical to the expansion of oil and gas production in North America, setting off a chain of events that is revitalizing other North American manufacturing industries.

The reason Ceramic Proppant has become more popular globally is the investment return it has due to technical advantages in comparison to Silica Sand and Resin Coated Proppants.
• High Strength (Minimum Crush)
• Uniform Size and Shape (Maximum Fracturing Porosity and Permeability)
• Thermal Resistance (Minimum Degradation and Maximum Durability)
