The 501st Legion is a global Star Wars costuming and

registered501(c) organizationwhich, nationally, raisesmillions

ofdollarsindirectandindirectdonations.MikeLymanservedas

Photography

Michael Lyman has been involved with

photography since high school, served as

chiefphotographer incollege,photographed

citiesalloverEuropeandspentsevenyears

inNewYorkdocumentingthecity.

He provides photography services for 501st

Legion events, such as the annual Stars of

Hope fundraiser, in which he created a

website for donors to collect their pictures

with movie-accurate Star Wars characters,

an event that raises hundreds of dollars for

charity.

His passion is documenting the world and

theeventsthattakeplaceinthem,capturing

moments that are gone forever once they

occur, and seeing the world in a different

way.

The sailboat owned by a retired Navy SEAL

became stuck on the beach in Gulfport,

Florida, and the towngave himan ultimatum:

move the boat or it will be chopped up and

hauledaway.Itwashisonlyhome,soagroup

ofvolunteerscametogethertohelpfreeitfrom

thesand.

Mike Lyman spent the day in the water

photographing the efforts of volunteers who

came together to help a veteran in need,

developingabondintheprocess.Theirefforts

were successful, and a man's home was

saved.

PhotoEssay-MovingTheEmpireTheater

The Empire Theater in New York City is where Abbott and Costello first

performed,andisdesignatedahistoricbuilding.WhenAMCdecidedtobuild

a movie theater on the site, they had to incorporate the theater into their

plans,sincetheycouldn'ttearitdown.

Instead, theypickedup the theaterandmoved it170 feet to itsnewhome.

Theevent featured huge inflatableAbbott andCostello balloons tomake it

appear they were pulling the theater forward. From the press area, Mike
