MY FAvOuRITE DISH:

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Dr. Wayne Dyer

So profound, and so true. We have a choice in every situation. The question is which way will I choose to look at this? The answer could make you or break you.

MY FAvOuRITE SAYING:

You name it. Everything from the Carpenters Greatest Hits to Adele, Madonna, Coldplay, Barry Manilow, Jason Mraz, Hall and Oates, Frank Sinatra, and much, much more. Music is a huge part of my life. I’m no musician, but I have a great respect and appreciation for those who are. Now dancing? That’s a whole different story. I was BORN TO DANCE!

ON MY iPod:

A basket of inspirational books. i never know when i might need to be inspired or enlightened. if my eyes land on a book, i never question it. i just immediately pick it

up, open it to any page, and start reading. i can’t tell

you how many times this little practice has

provided me with the answers

and the direction i was seeking in the moment.

i believe you can’t ignore life’s simple callings. My husband of 14 years, Don.

he’s a huge support and my best friend. And of course my three beautiful dogs lucy, Tori, and Rufus. Together, they weigh 25 pounds. Not much of a threat to burglars but definitely a joy to have in my life. They often lay on a blanket on my desk while i work.

ON MY BEDSIDE TABlE:

AT MY SIDE:

Bikram Yoga. 90 minutes, 100 degrees, 50% humidity. It’s a full body, inside-and-out detox every time. I’ve never done anything that pushes me so hard yet makes me feel so good at the same time.

STAYING FIT:

When indulging, I love linguine alle vongole (linguini with Red Clam Sauce). However, my more reasonable favourite is Gazpacho. Nothing better than a bowl of cold, fresh vegetable soup. It’s so healthy and nourishing.

Natalie and husband Don

Q: What advice would you give to a brand-new Consultant?

a: First of all, NEvER quit! A great business doesn’t just happen – it takes time, hard work, and perseverance. But it sure is worth it! Also, ASK for what you need. People love to help others, and there are a lot of amazing folks out there. I have made lasting friendships with fellow Consultants, Hostesses and Customers. And no matter what… embrace change and bounce back!

Q: How do you get future bookings at your Tasting Parties?

a: I try to emphasize how easy and inexpensive it is to have a Party, and I remind the guests that I bring everything prepared, so they won’t have to worry about me taking over their kitchens! I also drop little booking seeds like saying, “This pot is the most popular Hostess choice,” while I hug my Multi-Purpose Pot and tell them how great it is.

Most importantly, I make sure everyone is having FuN, and that they want to share the fun with family and friends.

Q: How do you share the Epicure opportunity?

a: I love the Business Opportunity Brochure – it has the perfect amount of initial information. I leave it out at my Parties, put it in Hostess Envelopes, and display them on my table at events.

The key is to listen carefully for cues. People will ask you things like, “How many Parties do you do every month?” or “What are your quotas?” They may also tell you about what’s happening in their lives, like being laid off, or not wanting to go back to a full-time job after maternity leave. listen closely!

Q: What first attracted you to Epicure?

a: MONEY, plain and simple! Epicure literally fell into my lap when a friend gave me a catalogue. I was so intrigued by the products and knew that many of my friends would be too! After doing some research and asking lots of questions, I decided that Epicure fit the bill perfectly. My husband works long hours and I needed a job that I could work around my family.

My first goal was to make enough money to cover a car payment; I needed a new van desperately! Within six months of working my business, I was doing it! That was almost six years ago. Today, I’m able to plan and set goals for my family, knowing that my contribution to the family bank account lets us enjoy all those big and little extras that make life fun.

Q: How do you share the Epicure opportunity?

a: I always make sure to drop plenty of sponsoring seeds throughout the Party. I share my genuine love of the product

and my passion about what this opportunity has done for my family. At the checkout, I always start with a sincere compliment to the person I want to offer the opportunity to. Then I invite her to meet for a coffee or chat over the phone so I can give her more info. I give her one of my fun sponsoring packs. I put the Business Opportunity Brochure, a notebook, pen, candy or chocolate, and a tea bag into a brightly coloured bag. When she has a quiet moment, I tell her to sit down and relax with a cup of tea and treat, look through the info, and make some notes for when we will be chatting next.

Q: What have you learned from your Epicure business?

a: I have become a confident and respected business woman who is making a name for herself in her community as someone who truly cares and is there to help when needed. I am also so grateful for the friends I have made. My “Episistas” are there for me whenever I need a shoulder to lean on; they fill up my cup so that I can go out and give to others.

Most recently, I have been learning about business networking with other professionals and how valuable a great network can be. I am meeting with some truly amazing business women and entrepreneurs once a month and sharing great information on ways to use social media to grow your business. Most of all, I have learned that women can do amazing things when they put their minds to it!

EPICURE SELECTIONS® SEPTEMBER 2012

I love it for sweet and savoury dishes: pumpkin muffins, scones, pumpkin cheesecake, and of course pumpkin pie. It’s also great for seasoning sweet potatoes and roasted root vegetables. I love to add a pinch to curries.

Our NEW BlT Hot Dip is perfect for the fall season. Cold-weather Canada has plenty of opportunities to bring people together – come inside for a delicious hot dip to enjoy with family and friends. It's also a super-quick and delicious sandwich spread served cold. Even more perfect, serve it in the NEW Tomato Red Mini Baker!

This is a wonderfully comforting drink to serve as the weather cools down. Perfect for after outdoor activities or curling up on a snowy Sunday afternoon with a good book. Add some rum, and it’s a lovely and festive holiday beverage.

Our NEW salt is so unique. It’s sweet, salty, and savoury–there’s a real "wow" factor! My family and I have been enjoying it sprinkled on brownies. It’s the little extra something that dresses up so many dishes, such as roasted veggies or a crust for a roast. As the holiday season approaches, it will make a great gift too.

There is so much excitement in the air around the holidays. Thanksgiving kicks off the season in Canada. So many of our products fit nicely with entertaining family and friends –whatever size the party is.

I love Thanksgiving; this is an easy time of year for entertaining! My family and friends look forward to sharing the bounty of this wonderful season!

An interview with

I HAvE FOuND EPICuRE TO BE INCREDIBlY SuPPORTIvE OF THEIR CONSulTANTS.

I have an amazing leader and I never worry about asking a silly question.”

Elly Charette, Senior Consultant, Espanola, ON

An interview with

TO HEAR AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE THAT THE PRODuCTS MAKE – for people’s health, for people’s lives – that’s really powerful.

Several months before Elly Charette retired last year, her niece hosted an Epicure Tasting Party and suggested that Elly sign up. "She said, ‘You’d be good at this! Why don’t you try it?’ I got hooked on the products, and I thought, ‘Okay, I’ll do it as a hobby.’ I really didn’t think it would kick off the way it has!”

"The change for me happened at National Conference in Montreal last year. It shed a whole new light on the business and gave me a real boost. It was inspiring to hear more about the products and how they’re made. It’s not like just going to the store and picking up an envelope of chicken noodle soup! To hear and see the difference that the products make for people’s health, for people’s lives – that’s really powerful. The Epicure Foundation™ was the kicker, though. To hear how committed this company is to helping Canadians, that really spoke to me.”

Elly and her husband (who is also retired) are active volunteers with their church and also with their local police department’s victim services program. “If someone is in a crisis and needs help, we get to help respond to that.”

Elly’s husband loves what Epicure is doing for her. “He loves it and he pushes me! When orders come in, he unpacks them and puts stickers on them. He’s a big help!”

This summer, Elly booked Tasting Parties at cottages where she met lakeside neighbours and out-of-town guests to expand her list of contacts. “They all needed to know about Epicure! I tried to focus on people in camping areas. One Party I did early this season was a couple hours away, and they have no Consultants in that area at all. I still hope to get a couple of the ladies from that Party signed up!”

Joleine Hartman had tried her hand at running a home-based business before she signed up with Epicure two years ago. “I thought I knew what to expect, but I was completely wrong! I have found Epicure to be incredibly supportive of their Consultants. I have an amazing leader and I never worry about asking a silly question. I started in August 2010 and was extremely busy for the rest of that year – Epicure has been nothing short of awesome since the very beginning.”

Joleine says that Epicure has also brought her the unexpected benefit of greater confidence. “I have never been a shy person, but now because of Epicure, I find myself talking to people in the spice aisle at the grocery store. I have learned that it’s okay not to succeed on your first try, and to keep trying. A little hard work goes a long way to make me successful.”

Once she has a captive audience at a Party, Joleine can really work her magic. “I talk about the health benefits and the versatility of the products. For example, as a working mother, the WFD packets and the dip mixes have made mealtimes a lot simpler for me. I talk about the benefits of having a Party, giving examples of past Parties where the

Hostess did extremely well. When someone is talking about wanting a certain item they can’t afford, I always tell them they can earn it for free just by having a few friends over for some munchies. If they say they can’t handle the ‘work’ of having people over, I always ask the current Hostess if the party took a lot of ‘work.’ She always assures the guests that it was no big deal, as well as a good excuse to clean house!"

Her talent for connecting with people is one that will serve Joleine well when she becomes a leader. She says, “With the new compensation plan, I feel that leadership is more within reach than it ever was. I’m in constant contact with my team members, even if it’s just by email. I pass on as much information to them as I can and I’m always available if they have questions.”

your Business success and theirs!

Education & Development

The infogram above may seem out of place as a training piece, but have another look. A big part of your continued success with Epicure is sponsoring new Consultants. our current multi-faceted sponsorship incentives make that easier.

Building a balanced and sustainable Epicure business involves two equally important parts: sales and sponsoring. Sponsoring can take a back seat to the immediate gratification of sales, yet it is the cornerstone of business building. Continuing to support and encourage your new Team members builds a solid foundation for their success as well as your own. It also provides a common “miss” in the lives of Canadians – the personal satisfaction of being a successful business owner and role model.

Time to deflate a couple of common sponsoring misconceptions and give you some ingredients to entice new Consultants into the business!

•New to Epicure? Don’t wait to sponsor! Many new Consultants are nervous about sponsoring and feel their own lack of experience will hinder their new Team member’s chance of success. Don’t worry, it won’t! Your enthusiasm for the delicious products and lucrative business

opportunity will draw others to join our incredible company. And, with your leader’s help, you will learn and build your mutual successes together.

•Anytime is the right time to sponsor. The Epicure+ Sponsoring Challenge offers a variety of incentives with $25 savings on the price of the Business Success Kit™, along with the $50 Prize Pack of new and returning products for you and the new Consultant once they reach QSS1. Pass it on!

As your Team grows, so does your commission and incentives. As your new Consultant gets a taste of Epicure success, their growing business is reflected in their monthly commissions, rewards, and a bright future with Epicure.

Your Biz - Your Image is Your Billboard1. Focus on quality pieces. If you show up like a winner, people will treat you like one.

2. image is a complete package. It’s your clothes, how you accessorize, how groomed you are, your posture, your ability to maintain eye contact, and so much more.

3. what is your image conveying? Is your personal brand in synch with Epicure’s?

4. Don’t underdo it. Be consistent from head to toe. Don’t overlook the details.

5. express yourself. Be creative. Don’t get in an image rut.

6. Do you command attention when you walk into a room? Self-assurance is the energy and attitude that will draw others to you.

Hostess Coaching: things to remember 1. Book in close. whenever possible, hold a Party within no more than 2–3 weeks of booking it.

2. invite within 48 hours of booking. Encourage your Hostess to invite guests or provide you with the guest list within 48 hours of booking the Party.

3. coach your Hostess well. let her know up front in your first meeting that the date you schedule for her is just for her. Be honest about expectations and stick to your word.

4. use Epicure’s Hostess Benefits program to book parties. only offer other special incentives on rare occasions.

5. remember that Epicure is your income. you determine when, where, and with whom you choose to work - don’t allow others to dictate your schedule or how you run your business.

6. aLWays be reliable in what you do. know what you stand for and manage your business like a business. in turn,Customers and Hostesses alike will feel confident doing business with you.

7. Follow-up is key. The Party is just one step in building the relationship. Always follow up with your Hostess to ensure she is satisfied with her rewards, the products she ordered, and the Party.

Talk It upThis is the new everyday creamy dip with smoky soy bacon, a hint of warm leek, and the sweetness and tang of ripe tomatoes – perfect for the fall season.

Health tidbit: This blend uses smoked paprika to colour the soy bacon naturally. There are no artificial dyes in here and it is vegetarian friendly!

Let’s talk value: Each jar makes 8 cups (2 l) of dip! we love spreading leftovers on mini bagels for everyday lunches or as a sandwich spread for toasted tomato sandwiches (even in grilled cheese), and for stuffing celery.

Elevate taste: To make it gourmet, use dip to stuff mushroom caps, stuff chicken breast or simply serve with an elegant arrangement of specialty crackers or crostinis.

EcD or BLt: No need to choose one over the other! Extraordinary Cheese Dip is made up of 3 products. individually, they are versatile and offer many affordable, easy mealtime solutions. Together, they make Epicure’s most popular dip! BLt is one product – fantastic when served either hot or cold. Can be used in numerous recipes, too.

Bacon, Leek & tomato Dip: Sell it while it’s Hot! (Enjoy it cold, too.)

Crystal MacGregor, RDNutrition & Product Training Specialist

Before the party: To save time, double the label recipe. Divide into two portions or make four smaller samples.

Place one portion in Tomato Red Mini Baker (half full is all you need). Refrigerate (or freeze) remainder for other Parties.

at the party: Microwave or bake dip until warm. Dish up with celery, carrot or pepper strips, or use baguette slices or crackers for tasting.

Developing your self confidence1. Take action. Working on something and getting it done are the best ways to increase your self confidence.

2. prepare. Preparation is very helpful. Action is key. Don’t use preparation as “creative avoidance” of what you really need to do.

3. Failure will not kill you. If we don’t fail, we don’t grow. When failing:

• youlearn • yougainexperiences • youstrengthen • yoursuccessincreases

4. Get to know yourself. Taking time to figure out what you want will develop your confidence in your abilities. When you know who you are and what you represent, you will be unstoppable.

Facebook for your businessTech Corner:

Do: check your Facebook page for your Epicure business daily. Don’t: spend all day on there; it’s easy to be lured in and you can end up wasting a whole day when it could be better spent working your business or spending time with family (we’ve all been there).

Do: respond thoughtfully to all questions and comments. Don’t: engage in arguments. It always makes you look bad, even if you’re right.

Do: promote Epicure sales and specials on your Facebook page. Don’t: sound needy. (Eg. “Buy some spice…pretty please?” ) In fairness to all Consultants, don’t advertise your business on Epicure’s Facebook page (that’s what your own page is for).

Do: share recipes, kitchen tips and tricks, favourite products, etc. Don’t: share anything too personal. This is a page for your Epicure business; it’s not your diary.

Do: choose a great photo of yourself for the profile picture so Customers know it’s your page and can find you easily. Don’t: use a logo. You’re a Consultant for a reason: people do business with people.

Do: share your blog posts on your Facebook page (if you have a recipe blog, for instance). Don’t: spam people with constant status updates. No more than 4 updates a day is a good rule of thumb.

and last but not least: Never ever use offensive language, or share your religious or political opinion on your Facebook page. We’re not saying you can’t have opinions; just remember, what goes on Facebook stays on Facebook and reaches a lot more people than you think. Before you click "post" always stop and ask, is this how you want your business to be represented?

Are you facebook smart? Now that you’re all set up with a facebook page for your Epicure business, here are some helpful dos and don’ts:

Have fun, be professional, and be facebook smart.
