WEEK 4STEP 1

Start the Photoshop Elements software by opening it from your applications folder or by simply

clicking on it!s icon on your computer!s desktop if you have this set up this way.

STEP 2

Click ORGANIZE from the welcome menu.

In order to get your photos from your camera simply click on FILE, then GET PHOTOS AND

VIDEOS, then FROM CAMERA OR CARD READER

STEP 4

Once you have done this, now set up a new album for your macro pictures from which you can even#

tually select your $nal image to create the macro montage from. To do this click on the the OR#

GANIZE tab, then the green + tab, then NEW ALBUM.

Name your new album %Macro Montage&, then click OK

STEP 6

Simply drag and drop your macro photos into the Macro Montage Album.

STEP 7

Now you are ready to select your best image and begin the process of manipulating it in the macro

montage assignment. Use the image that gives you the most potential to create a striking design

when replicated like the example at the beginning of this document.

Select the best image by clicking on it and thus turning its outline blue like this:

STEP 8

Now Click on EDITOR and scroll down to FULL EDIT.

This will cause you to get a complete editing window such as this:

STEP 9

To begin the project we are going to create 4 layers of the same image. These will all appear to be

stacked on top of each other. To create a new layer click on LAYER, then DUPLICATE LAYER.

This $rst layer can stay a BACKGROUND COPY such as this. If if does not default to that title

simply type it in and click OK.

You will notice each time you create a layer, they will be visible in this area under the layers toolbar

like this:

Layers that are visible will have an %eye& in front of them. You can turn various layers on and o'. For

all of our work in this project you want to make sure that all layers are visible and have an %eye& in

front of each one such as seen here and in other steps.

STEP 10:

Now create 3 additional duplicate layers following the same steps as in Step 9 (select LAYER, DU#

PLICATE LAYER, and then save each as Layer 1, Layer 2, and $nally Layer 3 as seen in the follow#

ing images, then save each one by clicking OK:

Notice how the layers are visible in the layers tool bar. You will not notice them in the editing win#

dow as they are all stacking up right on top of each other. You will see what I mean in the a couple

of steps.

Make sure all of the %eyes& are open and visible like this example as this means you will eventually be

able to see each layer we are working with in this project.
