Position: Perch/Machine Operator

Location: 85 Morrow Road, Barrie, Ontario

Under the supervision of the Finisher Team Leader, the position performs a variety of fabric finishing

functions. These duties include but are not limited to examining fabric or products for conformity to

quality standards, marking defects, repairing minor defects if possible, and completing all ERP entries.

The remaining points are inserted under the duties and responsibilities section.

Key Requirements:

• Completion of high school, or equivalent.

• Strong mathematical, comprehension and computer abilities.

• Working knowledge of an ERP system and data entry.

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working within a production environment.

• Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with employees and managers as

part of a team.

• Problem solving skills in order to resolve conflicts and problems.

• Excellent interpersonal skills in order to maintain an excellent rapport with co-workers.

• Detail oriented and excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.

• Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines.

• Ability to remain stationary at a machine for extended periods of time.

Major Responsibilities

1. Sets-up finishing equipment as per work order.

2. Examines fabric or products for conformity to quality standards.

3. Marks defect on fabric and notify Finishing Team Leader.

4. Measures or weighs finished product by placing the rolls on the scale and measuring

them with a standard tape measure.

5. Inspects every meter of the fabric, flags defects and takes samples for the Quality

Control Department.

6. Records information on products inspected such as what coating has been spread on

the material.

7. Assists in the preliminary packaging of products.

8. Repairs and marks minor defects on fabric.

9. Ensures a safe environment at all times.

10. Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with company and departmental

policies, procedures and standards.

11. Maintains client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and

secure.

12. Maintains a positive working relationship with team members and management in a

team environment.

13. Sets-up and organize individual work area with designated supplies, forms and resource

materials while maintaining cleanliness at all times.

BROTECH CNC MACHINIST - JOB DESCRIPTION

To produce quality parts and meet customer expectations for tolerance and finish

To meet job times defined in Job Travellers

To meet or exceed Brotech’s QMS standards

General Duties:

Attend work daily; clock-in and be ready to perform duties 5 minutes before the shift start time

Contribute to the efficiency and cleanliness of the shop by cleaning up work area at end of shift and returning putting inserts and tools to their designated location. Improve the shop organization

Perform routine checks on machines at the start of shift, per checklist. Report all broken tools; change cutters at correct intervals

Make an effort to continuously learn from outside and internal sources

Proactively communicate with supervisors when problems with jobs arise

Make good use of time. Start cycle before breaks and lunch, when appropriate and safe

Learn from experiences. Listen to others; take advice from experienced machinists

Perform duties within Health and Safety standards; when others are at risk, inform that employee and supervisor

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Meet estimated times for setup and cycle. If bottlenecks in the process are caused by planning or programming, be sure to inform supervisor

Pay attention to drawing details and Process Planning Instructions to produce quality (in tolerance) parts

On the occasion that scraps parts are made, work within QMS procedures to use a coloured tag, with appropriate notes as to the out of tolerance condition and make sufficient comments in system about the cause

Understand and follow the company QMS, filling in all necessary quality documents, taking action on out of tolerance situations. Ensure all measurements and measuring tools are correctly recorded in the inspection sheets. If no inspection sheets exist, report to supervisor or Quality Manager

When problems arise, identify causes, look for solutions when time permits. Try to solve without jeopardizing part or efficiency. Engage supervisor or other experienced people when job times are in jeopardy. Make recommendations to solve problems in the future

Identify opportunities to improve programs – speeds, tool paths etc. Communicates them to supervisor.(m)

When performing setups, ensure parts are centred, and low in vise. Keep parts from hanging over the vise. Tool holders should be as short as possible

Ensure excellent handover between shifts. Give and receive 100% of needed knowledge to execute the job. Demonstrate understanding of that knowledge

Direction Received

The position requires motivated, proactive, individual who is a self-starter, who can manage his/her own time.

Direction will come from supervisors, company Quality Management System, and policies and procedures.

Position: Machinist

Reports to: Machine Shop Group Lead

Machining Job Description:

Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose machines and machining centers to

fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties. Standard

machine department equipment includes mills, lathe, drill press, surface grinder,

inspection granite plate and accessories related to the machine process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Works cooperatively with customers, fellow employees, contractors, and

management

Communicates with management, fellow staff, and customers any project concerns,

project status, and possible area solutions

Completes all assigned tasks in a neat and timely fashion

Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to

determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations,

and setup requirements

Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work

piece for subsequent machining as appropriate

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories,

and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed,

coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance

machining, and adjusts machine controls as required

Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. Inspects via

appropriate measuring devices. Detail number from drawing is stamped on machined

piece

The Machinist signs off on the drawings

If there are any changes to be made to the drawing, the Machinist follows proper IAI

procedures ensuring updates are captured

The Machinist performs routine maintenance on the machine department equipment

weekly to ensure proper working order

Organizes heat treatment and black oxide for machined components, once machining

requirements are met

Verifies and only uses measuring instruments that are calibrated using a certified

JOE block set, as detailed in clause 4.11

Responsible for ISO calibration records of all mechanical measuring instruments

within the company.

Basic understanding solid works capabilities.

Computer competent for uploading and downloading NC programs to the NC

Machine.

Ability to store and manage past current and future programs

Ability to develop and recommend machining schedules to accent output from our

design department.

Understands NC formats

Ability to continually improve the output of the NC machines that are available.

Ability to operate and program 3-axis MillPwr NC milling machines

Develop best practices for machining efficiency.

Occasional travel as required within North America

Physical Demands:

This position may require frequent walking, as well as the occasional crouching,

squatting, and kneeling. Working in machining also requires constant cervical flexion, the

chin to chest movement. Maximum lifting weight can reach about 50lbs, maximum

carrying weight is about 20lbs, and the maximum pushing and pulling weights can reach

100-150lbs. Frequent forward reach with both arms is necessary as well as frequent

Move parts to designated workstation(s) in priority sequence as required.

Machinist Apprentice

We currently have a requirement for a General Machinist to join our team. The Machinist is responsible for manufacturing components in a machine shop environment. The Machinist will report directly to the Machine Shop Lead.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Read and interpret drawings and determine work and/or repair procedures Set up and machine to prescribed tolerances on engine lathes, mills, surface grinders, and saws Select mechanical measuring, checking and layout tools and devices Execute measuring, checking and layout operations Perform metal removing operations using hand and power cutting tools Some heavy lifting

Education: Completion of secondary school Graduate of Georgian College Mechanical Engineering Technologist Program or Mechanical Technician

DESCRIPTION

The General Machinist is responsible for creating quality parts produced on various machines

such as but not limited to lathes and milling machines and general shop equipment according to

company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. Responsibilities will include reading and

interpreting blueprints and manuals to determine production processes and requirements and

inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements. The General Machinist will detect

equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machines, within capabilities,

controls or control media as required to insure quality of production.

REQUESTED SKILLS

• Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of

work experience in the trade and some college or industry courses in machining.

• Journeyman CNC Machinist certification preferred. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Minimum of 1 year experience operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling

machines in a heavy manufacturing environment. • Intermediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the

application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID

Machinist – CNC Boring Mill Weldco-Beales Manufacturing Ltd. (WBM) manufactures heavy equipment attachments and truck mounted cranes for the construction, forestry, mining and resource industries throughout Canada, U.S.A. and internationally. Our manufacturing facility located in Barrie, Ontario is currently recruiting a Machinist for our CNC Boring Mill. Reporting to the Shop Foreman, you will provide quality customer service and adhere to design specifications to produce quality products by machining parts used to manufacture, or repair, various heavy equipment attachments in a timely fashion to meet Customer needs. Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Studies specifications, charts, drawings or sample parts to determine the machining operation to be performed,

Reads and interprets blueprints,

Follows directions given, drawings and work orders,

Checks parts for defects,

Calculates dimensions and tolerances, and prepare working sketches if necessary,

Operates and uses various machine shop equipment and tools safely at all times, which includes some or all of the following:

lathes, mills, boring mills, drills, saws and machining centers.

Maintains and repairs equipment as required.

Qualifications

Education:

Completion of high school and tickets are an asset.

Experience:

In-depth knowledge of all tools and equipment and their use and care,

Advanced knowledge of general safety practices,

Experience with any heavy steel fabrication/machining/assembly environment would be a valuable asset
