Luís Miguel Soares-de-Almeida, MD was born in Coimbra (Portugal) in 1959. He received his Medical Degree from Nova Medical School of Lisbon (Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Portugal, in 1982. He completed his Dermatology residency training at 1986, and he is Senior Consultant of Dermatology and Venereology at Hospital de Santa Maria-Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Norte EPE, Lisboa, since 2002. Professor of Dermatology and Vice-chair of Medical Educaon department of Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa, since 2010. Dr. Soares-de-Almeida trained in Dermatopathology in Spain with Luis Requena, MD (Fundación Jimenez Díaz, Madrid) and in Germany with Heinz Kutzner, MD (Dermatopathologie Friedrichshafen). He is board cerficated in Dermatopathology by the Internaonal Board of Dermatopathology in 2004. He is the Head of Laboratório de Histopatologia Cutânea da Clínica Universitária de Dermatologia de Lisboa accredited as Training Centre in Dermatopathology by the ICDP-UEMS for the period 2012-2021. Senior researcher at Instuto de Medicina Molecular (IMM), Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa - Avenida Professor Egas Moniz, 1649-028, Lisboa, Portugal. Organizer of 2 Symposia of the Internaonal Society of Dermatopathology in Lisboa (2004 and 20019). Holder of the 2007 EADV Prize in the session “What's your diagnosis?” in Vienna, Austria, and the 2009 August C. Sefel Prize of the Portuguese Society of Dermatology. He is member of the Portuguese Society of Dermatology and Venereology (SPDV), European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), Centro de Estasca Aplicada da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (CEAUL), Portuguese Group of Dermatopathology (Sá Penella´s Group), Spanish Group of Dermatopathology (GEDP) and Internaonal Society of Dermatopathology (execuve member of ISDP between 2004-2010). He has published over 100 original arcles in PubMed, wrien 5 book chapters and co-authored a book of Cutaneous infecous diseases. His research interests include malignant melanoma and clinic-pathologic correlaon of cutaneous inflammatory disorders. Luís Miguel Soares-de-Almeida, MD was born in Coimbra (Portugal) in 1959. He received his Medical Degree from Nova Medical School of Lisbon (Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Portugal, in 1982.He completed his Dermatology residency training at 1986, and he is Senior Consultant of Dermatology and Venereology at Hospital de Santa Maria-Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Norte EPE, Lisboa, since 2002.
