Director’s Message

This Fall brings an abundance of energy and change to our department. We are

very excited about the opening of our newly renovated Blinn Tennis Courts!

We would like to thank Bay Path University for their very generous donation

that helped us purchase the new shed and much needed windscreens.

We would like to thank our Pancake Breakfast sponsor, White Hut Kitchen for

their generosity in donating all the supplies for our annual pancake breakfast as

well as volunteering to help cook the pancakes!

I’d like to thank Deb Pratt who has volunteered with our field hockey program

for the last several years. The experience and talent she brought has helped

many young players develop. We will miss her very much and wish her luck in

the future!

On Saturday, October 3, we are holding our first annual “Fall Festival” on the

Green! We will again have our ever-popular community tag sale as well as

area craft vendors, mini food court featuring local food trucks as well as local

farmers market, old fashioned kids carnival games, acoustic musicians tent and

so much more! You can read more about the event inside this brochure.

On Saturday, October 24, we are offering “Halloween in Salem.” We will tour

the Salem Witch Museum and have plenty of time to explore this unique town

just in time for Halloween!

Don’t forget to visit our beautiful parks this fall. There is so much to see and

do while walking trails, picnicking with your family or using the playgrounds

and ball fields. Get outdoors and enjoy!

LYBA offers a recreational program for boys & girls in Grades 1 – 8, in which

everyone makes a team. Grades 1 & 2, which play on Saturday morning, are primarily instructional in nature. Specifically, each one hour Saturday morning

block dedicates 30 minutes to teaching basic basketball fundamentals (e.g., drib-

bling, passing, shooting), followed by a thirty (30) minute scrimmage vs. another 1st-2nd grade team. In addition, LYBA may periodically offer optional clinics for

this age group on a weeknight during the season to advance players’ skills &

development. As for 3rd through 8th grade, teams have one practice and one game per week with an official referee at each game. Optional weekly clinics

may also be made available to 3rd & 4th grade participants as well. More infor-

mation about the clinics will be provided in late November/early December. The season generally starts in early December and ends in early March.

LYBA also offers optional travel teams for Grades 3 – 8, which have an incre-mental fee in addition to the standard registration LYBA fee. Travel team players

are selected through a try-out process in which LYBA utilizes independent evalu-

ators. Travel try-outs are held in late October/early November. More information will be available at registration nights. The 2015/2016 LYBA registration fees

will vary by grade. All LYBA reg. fees will be posted on the LYBA website
