NEW DELHI, Mar 16:
Congress president RahulGandhi today again trained hisguns on the Government overthe Rafale fighter jets deal,alleging that it had caused a lossof Rs 36,000 crore to the stateexchequer even as the Army"begs" for more money.
He also alleged that DassaultAviation, the French companythat manufactured the fighterjets, had called the "lie" of "RM"(Raksha Mantri or DefenceMinister) Nirmala Sitharamanby releasing the price of the air-craft.
Gandhi highlighted the price
the BJP Government paid for thefighter jets, the figure finalisedby the erstwhile UPA regime ledby Manmohan Singh for pur-chasing the aircraft and theamount Qatar had paid for thesame.
"Dassault called RM's lieand released prices paid perRAFALE plane in report: Qatar= 1319 Cr, MODI = 1670 Cr,MMS = 570 Cr."1100 Cr perplane or 36,000 Cr i.e 10 pc ofour Defence budget, in the pock-et. Meanwhile, our Army begsour Govt. For money (sic)," theCongress leader said on Twitter.
Gandhi has been attackingthe BJP-led Government over
the defence deal, alleging that ithas caused a huge loss to thestate exchequer. He has alsoquestioned Prime MinisterNarendra Modi's silence on theissue. (PTI)
