ART ACTIVITY

Pinch Pot1. To make a pinch pot, start by rolling a little

bit of clay into a small ball, about the size of an egg.

2. Hold the ball in one hand and slowly push your thumb into the center of the clay.

3. Gently pinch the clay between your fingers and thumb on the inside and the outside while turning the ball of clay in your hand.

4. As you apply pressure around the clay, check to see that the clay is the same thickness on the wall and rim of your pot.

5. Gently tap the pot on the table to make a flat base.

6. Using a carving tool, design the outside of your pot with symbols or patterns.

7. Allow your work to air dry for two to three days.

Vasija de Arcilla1. Forma una pequeña bola de arcilla del

tamaño de una mandarina.

2. Sostén la bola en una mano y empuja lentamente tu pulgar hacia el centro de la arcilla.

ART ACTIVITY

Kinetic Beaded Sculpture1. To make a sculpture that hangs in the air,

start with a piece of wire and a straw from your packet.

2. Put the wire through the straw and create a hook at the top. Twist the wire to keep your objects in place.

3. Use your wire and add beads, straws, and unlimited scraps of paper to create a pattern throughout your sculpture.

4. Add objects until the whole wire is covered. At the end of the wire, twist the wire to keep the objects in place.

5. Hang your sculpture in a favorite location.

Animalitos1. Let’s make a SCULPTURE of an animal or insect

using our imaginations.

2. Start with the body. Capture the shape and form of your animal by using felt, tissue paper, and fabric strips. Using rubber bands, wrap the material into a body.

3. Add a head to your animal. Use some of your leftover materials and attach it to the body using rubber bands and string.

4. ¡Los detallitos! Details! Using assorted items, add details to your animals. For example, add googly eyes or create legs using wire.

Portrait Collage 1. Starting at the center of your paper, draw a

picture of yourself.

2. Capture the shape of your head, eyes, nose, and mouth and texture and lines for your hair.

3. If you like, color in your portrait using the watercolor set in your creativity kit.

4. Allow time for your artwork to dry.

5. Then, cut and tear patterned paper for a background.

6. When you like the way your background looks, glue down your pieces of paper.

7. This will make your artwork a collage.

8. Add lines and designs to finish your work to make it really pop!

Still Life Watercolor 1. A STILL LIFE is a painting or drawing of an

arrangement of objects--like fruit, flowers, a stack of books, toys, etc.

2. Take a look around at the different things or objects that surround you.

3. Grab 2 – 5 things. Maybe select things that have a special meaning to you.

4. Arrange those objects together on a piece of paper.

5. Using a sketching pencil, start by drawing the basic shapes that make up your object.

6. Once your objects are drawn, use watercolor paint to color in your objects.

7. Using a small brush and water, blend in the colors.

8. Allow some time for your work to dry.
