What is BLT Legacy Giving?

The BLT Legacy Giving Program allows caring individuals to make

charitable gifts that support children served by the Major Project

(aka The Purple Piggy Bank). There are a number of different ways

to provide for future generations of the children served by our

CHEMPI Therapists and Vision Screeners. Remember 96 cents of

every dollar contributed goes directly to services provided to chil-

dren in need.

Both Elks and non-Elks can add the Major Project as a beneficiary to their life insurance, wills or retire-

ment plan. Individuals can also make gifts of stocks and other assets to CHEMPI.

Additionally, there is a special program available that allows those who are able to contribute $10,000 or

more to support the Major Project while receiving income and potential tax benefits.

Please consider making a lasting legacy gift to the children in whatever manner works best for you. For

more information, contact our Lodge BLT Legacy Giving Chairperson Donna Buzzard 872-7000 or con-

tact the CHEA Office in Fresno at 800-742-1907

Wagon Mistress: Gloria Long Secretary : Rosemary Cardwell Treasurer : Linda Martin Call of the Ridge: Linda Martin

Hello to everyone. Looks like spring is on its way. Happy to start thinking about our summer trips.

A few changes this year Linda Martin is taking over the treasurers job from Vikki Isham. Rosemary Cardwell will now be the

secretary since Patricia Buerll is leaving the area.

We are still going to Rancheria near Hat Creek in May. Dates are May 10th to the 17th.

You can still make reservations by calling Rancheria Park 877-335-0203. Tell them its the Paradise RV Group. There can be

many side trips and dinner is planned for the old hotel in Fall River. Hope all can come.

Have looked into going to Paso Robles area. Two resorts look very nice. Vines RV resort or Wine Country resort. If we stay in

this area it’s a short drive to Hearst Castle for tours. From there we go to Cambria to the Moonstone restaurant over looking the

ocean. In Cambria there are a lot of shops and a place called Nitwit Ridge. This is called the poor man’s Hearst castle. As you

travel along the beach you will see huge sea lions, maybe a whale or two. I wish I had space to tell you all the great things in

this area but I am limited.

Someone asked about getting Elks Travel Guides and here is the address -order from Elkdom Travel Guides, PO box 765 Carmi-

chael Ca 95609. A set can be purchased for $30.00. Each book is $6.00.. There phone number is 916-481-1021.

The next meeting will be April 10th at the Paradise Elks Lodge. We are always looking for new members . Contact Gloria

Long at 872-7015 with any questions. If you have an RV please come and join us. PS don't forget your dues. Send to Linda.

Looking forward to this years trips! Peace and good health to all. Happy and safe travels to all.

The Ponderosa Elementary 5th grade spelling bee was a lot of fun.

First place was Gavin Bailey, and second place was Rafaella Suere-

Bremner. Both will represent their school in the county spelling

bee in April.

Here we go, headed into our new Elk year 2017/2018. The good news for members is “NO LODGE DUES INCREASE.” Grand Lodge did increase their per Member assessment by .50 cents which we have passed on to you. However, our local dues increase won’t be until this time next year.

Around the Lodge, we’ve held some very successful events this past month. Our Elks Women’s Club and Lodge Volunteer Luncheons were great. Pizza and Pasta remains as one of are most popular events, so

come out and enjoy an evening of good pizza, great pasta, music and dancing. Or attend our Fizz breakfast for a fun filled morning of dancing and an all you can eat buffet breakfast.

This years Paradise Elks “Woman of the Year” is our very own Vernice Regan. I hope you are able to attend the celebration April 1, in the Grand Hall. Come and enjoy a fun evening where our Lodge names our Man, Woman, Senior and Junior of the year. They deserve your support and congratulations, they have earned it. If you cannot attend, next time you see Vernice or one of the other recipients, congratulate them.

A big Thank You to all of our Lodge Volunteers who serve meals, work the Yard sale, Fizz Breakfast, Pizza and Pasta, set up, Bingo and most other things that get done around the Lodge behind the scenes.

We have many events scheduled for your enjoyment in the coming months. Please come and enjoy one or more and support our Lodge. Supporting our Lodge helps keep the door open which allows us to continue to give back to our community.

Watch for “Queen of Heart” in the Members Bar beginning in April.

Our Officer Corps still needs to fill a couple of Officer positions. We need a Treasurer and a Five Year Trustee. If you are interested in being a part of making decisions that change and operate our Lodge, being an officer provides you that opportunity. Our Committee Chair Persons are also in need of committee members to work with them on the many events we hold and local activities support. Contact a Lodge Officer if you are interested.
