In the past 24 months weve donated over $12,000 to the Opportunity Center and $2,500 to the Disabled Veterans Organizaon. We purchase and deliver items to the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky every holiday season. This summer we purchased baseball/soſtball equipment and hosted a clinic for youth with ENF grant money. We purchase giſts for needy families around Christmas and countless other acvies and donaons. Our immediate and primary responsibility is to replace the 3 rd floor roof this fall. Our building was built exclusively as an Elks lodge and we have a beauful lodge room that is second to none. This approximately $20,000 price tag is no small expense. The façade grant we received through the city will cover $10,000. For a lodge our size the other $10,000 is a significant but manageable expense. I stress the importance of Sportsman Raffle because it allows us to connue our good deeds without financial burdens or limitaons. We have been diligent with our finances and we will connue towards another 130 years of Elkdom. Thanks to those who have bought and sold ckets. I SSUE NO. 71

With Mike Frisch stepping away from the E.R. post I will re-assume this position to finish out the lodge year. During the next five months I will work closely with Branden Johnson to prepare him as our next Exalted Ruler. Branden is currently serving as our Organist and recently joined the Trustees to assist with their objectives. Branden is a motivated and talented individual and I’m confident in his abilities to

lead this lodge.

Life Member Dinner: I did not get a count on the number of Life Members and eligible life members that attended this celebration. However, I know the place was filled with conversation and laughter. It was great to see so many people join us for dinner and recognize our Life Members for their many years of Elks service.

Turkey Trot Fundraiser: Every Thanksgiving Day hundreds of people participate in a “Turkey Trot”, which is a fun run, bike or walk to collect canned goods and money to donate to the Salvation Army. Veteran’s Dinner: Whether you’re a Veteran or not I encourage you to join us Wednesday November 9th for a great meal and guest speaker. Brigadier General Mark Scheid will be here to deliver a speech to our honored Veterans. All Veterans and Active Duty Military will receive a complimentary dinner that evening. Please call the club to reserve your seat!

Sportsman Raffle / Community Involvement: The Tiffin Elks is committed to serving our community in so many ways. In fact, we do so many great things that we don’t do a good job of promoting our deeds because our job is to be benevolent. To continue these great works we need to maintain a century old building, generate revenue to support programs, update equipment, and maintain our operations.

In the past 24 months we’ve donated over $12,000 to the Opportunity Center and $2,500 to the Disabled Veterans Organization. We purchase gifts for needy families around Christmas and countless other activities and donations.

Our immediate and primary responsibility is to replace the 3rd floor roof this fall. Our building was built exclusively as an Elks lodge and we have a beautiful lodge room that is second to none. This approximately $20,000 price tag is no small expense. The façade grant we received through the city will cover $10,000. For a lodge our size the other $10,000 is a significant but manageable expense.

Thurs, Nov 17th: Lodge Meeting

I had the opportunity to serve dinners to a number of our Life Members on the 11th of October for the Life Member Dinner. It was the first time I had met many of them in person, and it was inspiring to see so many people who have made our Lodge the great institution it is together in one room. I believe it was a fantastic evening, and I want to thank Bill Nordholt and Valarie Zeno for making it happen.

Please welcome our newest members to the Lodge: Kylie Mathias, Kevin Ogg, Wes Smith, and Nick Shoemaker. If you are at the Lodge when our new members are there, please welcome them and introduce yourself. I should also congratulate Nate Lofay, who sponsored all four of these new members.

I would like to add my voice to Joe’s in asking you to sell as many Sportsman Raffle tickets as you can. It is one of our signature events every year, and we can do a lot of great things for our Lodge and for our community with the money we raise. I also hope you will join us at the Veteran’s Dinner on November 9th and for any of our weekly Wednesday meals.

If you have or are about to change addresses, please send me the new address at [email protected] or call the Lodge.

Respectfully Yours,

Carl Hess, Secretary
