As the current custodians of Loake, we are immensely proud of the commitment of our forefathers and the tradition they worked so hard to establish. For this reason our premium grade Goodyear welted shoes continue

to be made in Kettering, England, in the same factory that the three brothers built in 1894.

The Goodyear welted construction for which Loake is renowned is an intricate process with origins going back over 300 years. Only the very highest quality materials are used. Each pair takes eight weeks to make and

we still believe there is no finer way to make a gentleman’s shoe.

Of course, things move on. Alongside our English Goodyear welted footwear we now design and produce a range of shoes outside the UK, using a variety of constructions. This enables us to offer a complete wardrobe

of shoes suitable for every occasion.

We estimate Loake has made over 50 million pairs of Goodyear welted shoes since it began. We now export to more than 50 countries and have become a favourite with discerning customers worldwide.

Our aim is to uphold this tradition and continue making the most handsome, comfortable and durable shoes we can.

My family has been making traditional English shoes for longer than anyone can remember. My great-grandfather John opened the first Loake factory with his brothers, Thomas and William,

back in 1880. Today, five generations and more than 130 years later, the Loake association with fine, handmade shoes lives on.

Making shoes of this quality takes time

Loake is famous for its beautiful, handcrafted Goodyear welted shoes. Most of these, including all the shoes in the “Loake 1880” and “Loake Shoemakers” ranges are still made in England,

and they have become a firm favourite with discerning customers across the world.

The process required to make a pair of Goodyear welted Loake shoes involves approximately 75 components and 200 separate operations. On average, the whole

process, from start to finish, takes 8 weeks to complete.We believe that one of the reasons for our longstanding success is our obsession with

last shape and fit. This can be subject to several alterations and a rigorous programme of trials before our exacting standards are met.

We are equally obsessive about the quality of the materials that we use. Only the finest grade leathers are chosen to ensure both the finish

and the comfort of your Loake footwear.

Display Units Loake display units come in two sizes, a two-tiered unit that can accommodate up to three styles or a larger six-tiered unit.

The six-tiered unit can either be secured to a wall or attached back-to-back to another unit to make a free standing tower display.

Shoe Care Loake shoe polishes, protectors and shoe horns are all available separately.

Cut-up Shoes We can supply cut-up shoes to illustrate the classic Goodyear welted construction or our unique Evolution Comfort System.

Showcards/Display Block Our A4 showcards cover general and specific areas of the Loake range.

Caring for your Loake shoes

With proper maintenance and attention, your Loake shoes will retain their excellent appearance and comfort in wear for years to come.

All the styles featured in this brochure are from our instock range**We aim to keep all sizes of every style instock, however in periods of unusually high demand, delays may occur.

Although every effort is made to ensure that the colours represented in this catalogue are as accurate as possible, due to the limitations of the printing process, actual colours may vary.

1. Always use a shoehorn when putting on your shoes This will keep the backs strong and sturdy.

2. Try to wear your shoes in dry conditions for the first few occasions.

3. Fine leather shoes can require a full day to dry out from natural perspiration. Try to give them at least twenty four hours between wears.

4. Try to avoid excessive wetting. Should this occur, always let the shoes dry naturally away from direct heat. Use newspaper inside the shoes to help the leather dry out.

5. Your shoes will benefit from regular use of a good quality cream or wax polish. This helps moisturise the leather, as well as prevent cracking and excessive creasing.

6. Attaching rubber additions to the soles or heels can affect the balance and comfort of your shoes. It can also put excessive strain on the construction and lead to premature wear.

Leather is a natural product and your shoes will benefit if the following recommedations are observed:

Repair Service

We are delighted to offer a full repair service at our Kettering factory. All our Goodyear welted shoes (including rubber-soled) are designed to be repairable and our expert craftsmen will resole the shoes on the original lasts. Moccasins can also be repaired with leather or rubber soles.

The service, which can normally be completed within 21 working days, includes a full refurbishing treatment. Customers should return their shoes to the shop where they were purchased to arrange the repair, or alternatively send them direct to the factory.
