The Social Season is over for another year. Well done to students for their conduct and dress for the Socials. Special thanks to House Coordinators and Mrs Franklyn for the organisation of the Socials and the staff that give time to help supervise. The Canteen Courtyard completion was delayed but we expect access next week. The P and F have contributed $100,000 towards the Canteen refurbishment, and $80,000 for the shade sails; every student benefits from this wonderful contribution. Liturgies for Ash Wednesday were held at the start of the day with our House Captains taking a major role. Fr Stephen blessed the Ashes and commissioned the House Captains in the Chapel before the House Liturgies. A reminder that next week’s House Swimming Carnival is a mandatory event; on that day College operations shift to the Oasis Centre. The day begins early for House Captains and House Coordinators with a breakfast at 6:15am before moving to the Oasis to set up; good luck to participants. The long weekend is timely as the first four weeks have been very hectic. Safe travel for those taking to the road.

Lent: A Time for Returning
Return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
rend your hearts and not your clothing. Return to the Lord, your God,
for he is gracious and merciful, slow in anger, and abounding in steadfast love.
(Joel 2:12:13)
Live Jesus in Our Hearts … Forever,
Ash Wednesday
The Ash Wednesday's Mass begins: "Grant, O Lord, that we may begin with holy fasting this campaign of Christian service, so that, as we take up battle against spiritual evils, we may be armed with the weapons of self restraint." With ashes on our heads like warpaint, we process under the banner of the cross to confront all that
lays siege to our hearts and a closer relationship with God. Lent is a campaign for true freedom.

At this early stage of the school year it is obvious that students who are using the ring binder come to class prepared. Do not lose handouts and have their Activity Book when needed. While students without the ring binder tend to be just the opposite. A very special “Thank You” to all parents who have provided their child with a ring binder. It has given them a smooth start to the
school year in their Science class. Thanks for your support.
(Mr Grafton - HOLA - Science)
Organisation for 7 – 10 Science Classes
a place to put handouts, worksheets, etc. and a storage area for the Student Activity Book, which is required for
every lesson.
The Year 7 – 10 stationery lists included a compulsory ring binder (loose leaf file) for all Science classes. The ring binder will help each student to organise their work easier by keeping
a supply of paper for notes, etc.
