Student and Family Services Linden Elementary:Parents on Board Workshop● Three session program that focuses on parent involvement by creating a school-smart

home, encouraging positive behavior, and effectively coaching children in academics.● Parents are able to meet with teachers and with other parents, share common

questions and concerns, and learn how to help their children find academic success. ● Program is lead by Leigh Croyle, the school guidance counselor.

Linden Elementary and Robertsville Middle:Second Harvest Food Bank• Needy students are sent home with a bag each weekend that contains enough food to

last until they get back to school on Monday. Family Resource Center• Director Joe Bruce• Extends to all Oak Ridge Schools• Provides services such as tutoring, family support, assistance with electric/water bills,

legal aid, Christmas and Thanksgiving donations for families in need

Parent Involvement Linden Elementary School

● PTA: Actively involved in supporting the teachers and staff

○ hosts fundraisers to generate funds toward major school-wide improvements

■ playgroup equipment, start-up funds for Technology Center

● Junior Great Books: PTA sponsored club that meets during lunchtime. Parent volunteers read a story from the JGB text and the leads the kids in a discussion of the story

● Junior First Lego League: After school activity for children ages 6-9.

○ Theme for the year “Super Seniors”

○ Will explore how we might improve the quality of life for seniors by learning about the challenges they might have.

Robertsville Middle School• PTSA: Provides parents and families

with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child.

• Helps with teacher supplies, equipment, and building needs

• Assists with vision and hearing screenings

• Goal for the year is to build a climbing wall in the gym

Robertsville Middle Est. 1954*Robertsville has a long covered walkway leading to the front

entrance doors. *Library is straight ahead as you enter the front doors. *The office is to the left of the main entrance. *Two floors with the cafeteria being located on the 2nd floor. *5th and 6th graders have their own “wing” and 7th and 8th

graders are not permitted.*There is a small track, play area and football field in behind the

school*There is a grassy area with a volleyball net and picnic tables in

front of the school

Grouping and TrackingLinden: Has a CDC class with some inclusion in the regular classroom. They very seldom use the CDC classroom, mostly inclusion/mainstreaming.

Robertsville: Has a CDC, pullout, they mainstream the student with individualized teaching from the SPED assistant.

Responsibilities continued...★ Principal- provides leadership and administration which

motivates instruction and supports faculty to strive for superior performance. The principal is responsible for all staff and observing, counseling, and motivating professional staff toward performances to attain educational goals of the district.

★ Vice-Principal/Administrative Asst-provides assistance and support to the administrative team. They help to support the principal and ensure an effective instructional program.

★ Receptionist/Secretary/Bookkeeper-maintain filing system, annually prepares a teacher seniority list, and maintains attendance for all staff and students. They order, receive and distribute all supplies in school and keep up with all bookkeeping.
