lentgroups
Small groups in March exploring faith for everyone.A Life Worth Living - four studies in Philippians perfect for people exploring
faith for the first time or coming back to a childhood faith in adult life. What does
it mean to follow Jesus?
Code Life - As Christian men living in the UK we want to follow in the footsteps
of those who resisted the lures of their culture to please their creator. This
four-week study, focused on issues of “honour” will unpack how we can do that.
Nooma - short, engaging and beautifully produced videos by Rob Bell, intended to challenge the way we feel about life and faith and stimulate discussion. Each
Lent group will take a different set of four as their leaping-off point for the sessions.
Square Mile - “Would anyone notice if your church ceased to exist?”. Four
sessions looking at how Christians and the church can and should engage with
our communities through acts of Mercy, Influence, Lifestyle and Evangelism.
Stimulating converstaion and Bible study, with prayer.
Colossians - four sessions looking together at the letter of Paul to the
Colossian church, in the company of world-renowned Bible scholar Tom Wright.
Resurrection - Living through 4 days in history as if we didn’t know what
would happen! Easter is so familiar to most of us. Four sessions walking from
Passover, to crucifixion, the silence of the tomb and then resurrection as if
we were there. How would this affect our faith?
Lectio Divina - reading the Bible doesn’t have to be a dry and dusty academic
exercise. Experience the ancient practice of ‘Lectio Divina’, a slow and
contemplative praying of the Scriptures to learn and carry in to our daily lives.
Why Jesus? - four sessions looking at who Jesus claimed to be, what he taught,
why he died and whether he really rose from the dead.
Life Balance - "Sabbath is a gift, a door, an attitude and a surprise"… A
look at rest, work and play in the light of the Bible's teaching about the
Sabbath. Opportunities to pause, find new rhythms, create space and clear
some of the clutter in our lives.
Looking through the Cross - Everything looks different in this world through
the lens of the Cross. Reconciliation, humility, identity, power, suffering, life
and atonement: themes given exciting new meaning in this Lent Book.
