NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR CENTERPOINT ENERGY MINNESOTA CUSTOMERSCenterPoint Energy has asked the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) to increase its rates for natural gas distribution service. The requested increase is for $54.1 million, or about 6.4 percent per year. The requested increase would add about $5.15 to a typical residential customer’s monthly bill.

CenterPoint Energy requested the rate changes described in this notice. The MPUC may either grant or deny the requested changes, in whole or in part, and may grant a lesser or greater increase than that requested for any class or classes of service.

The MPUC will likely make its decision on our rate request in the summer of 2016. If final rates are lower than interim rates, we will refund customers the difference with interest. If final rates are higher than interim rates, we will not charge customers the difference.

PUBLIC HEARINGSAdministrative Law Judge Eric L. Lipman is holding five public hearings on the company’s proposal. Any CenterPoint Energy customer or other person may attend or provide comments at the hearings. You are invited to comment on the adequacy and quality of CenterPoint Energy’s service, the level of rates or other related matters. You do not need to be represented by an attorney to provide comments during the public hearings.

Scott County Board Proceedings Scott County Pheasants ForeverReceives Conservation Leader AwardThe Scott Soil and water Con-

servation District recently pre-sented a “Conservation Leader” Award to Scott County Pheas-ants Forever. The award was for an organi-

zation. The conservation district also honored honored area resi-dents (Chris and Jim Schwing-ler of St. Lawrence Township), Livji and Doug Carlson of Sand Creek Township and the Prior Lake-Spring Lake watershed District for their individual and group conservation efforts. The award to the county

Pheasants Forever chapter was presented for Scott County Pheasants Forever’s decades of helping landowners plant food plots for pheasants and other wildlife in the area. This past year, farmers planted

more than 250 acres of corn, soybeans, and sorghum, a 47 percent increase in areas in the past five years alone. The seed is purchased and donated by the

chapter, and Scott SwCD staff handles the distribution to land-owners.The local chapter, chartered

nationally in 1987, has also sup-ported a number of countywide educational efforts, sponsoring native prairie workshops, the Conservation Leaders Program and Conservation Days. Known for its many programs for veter-ans, the Scott County Pheasants Forever’s most notable effort is the Operation Puppies for Sol-diers. The chapter has donated 18 young dogs to returning vet-erans who enjoy hunting wild-life. This year was the seventh year of Charlie’s Heroes Hunt, a Pheasants Forever-sponsored hunt for up to 52 returning Min-nesota veterans/hunters. The hunt includes breakfast, snacks, ammunition, guides, and dogs for the veterans.Through its Adopt a Soldier

Program, individual members of

Pheasants Forever adopt de-ployed soldiers, communicat-ing encouragement, sending care packages, and expressing their gratitude to the men and women serving our nation, of-ten fellow hunters and outdoors enthusiasts themselves. Since 1991, the local chapter and its members have maintained five miles of roadway around Belle Plaine and Lydia through the Minnesota Adopt-A-Highway Program. In addition, Scott County Pheasants Forever members feed pheasants during the winter and have nine wild-life management areas totaling 5,524 acres that are open to the public for nature walks, wild-life viewing, and hunting. Even behind the scenes, the members help fund local trap-shooting teams and 4-H shooting sports, and most recently a native prai-rie planting at Shakopee High School and pheasant feed.
