Challenge: Use words and pictures to help you remember the procedure!

Post your writing on Seesaw.

Challenge: 1. Draw a picture of Wombat Stew so that everyone knows what they are making. 2. Edit and revise your writing. Post your writing on Seesaw.

Challenge: Use words and pictures to help you remember the procedure!

Post your writing on Seesaw.

Challenge: 1. Make your Rainbow Pancakes. Follow your instructions! Post your writing on Seesaw.

Phonics: Watch the phonics video on seesaw. Ear can sound can be shown with the graphemes ‘eer’ and ‘ere’. List all the words you can think of with this sound. Circle the graphemes in all your words. Example: deer, here

We say:

“ear ear I can’t hear” Action: Point to you ear

Spelling: Spelling Rule:

Sometimes the letter c can make a /s/ sound. This happens when the c has a ‘e’, ‘i’ or ‘y’ after to it. This rule is important to remember so that you can spell different words correctly. For example: cent c/e/n/t – the c makes a /s/ sound because there is a ‘e’ after it.

Can you circle the correct spelling of these words. Do they need a c or s? Tell us why. Think about what letters are next to the /s/ sound. 1. city or sity

Why? _________ 2. fase or face

Why? _________ 3. sircle or circle

Why? _________

Speaking & Listening: Listen to the story Wombat Stew again. Can you record yourself retelling the beginning, middle and end of the story. Remember that when you retell a story you need to be able to tell someone what happened in different parts of the story. This has to be in your own words, not reading the pages in the book.

Vocabulary: Today we are going to be learning about a new word in the story you have been listening to this week, Wombat Stew. Listen to the story again and see if you can find the word – brewing. Find the vocabulary activity on Seesaw or on the next pages to learn all about what the word brewing means. Post a photo of your work on seesaw.

Break-go outside and play in the sun, listen to some music, have something to eat or play a game!

Mathematics: Partitioning We are learning to partition numbers using different strategies. Partitioning is when we split numbers into smaller parts to make it easier for us to work with.

Mathematics: Partitioning Watch the Wednesday Week 1 Maths video on Seesaw to help you with today’s activity.

We are going to be finding tens and ones in different

Mathematics: Partitioning Watch the Thursday Week 1 Maths video on Seesaw to help you with today’s activity.

We are going to be using tens frames to partition numbers.

Mathematics: Data Data is information that can be found in lists, tables or picture graphs.

Page 3: Learning from Home Term 4 Week 1

We can split numbers up like this:

2453 Thousands Hundreds Tens Ones

2 4 5 3 In this number there are: 2 thousands: 1000, 1000 4 hundreds: 100, 100, 100, 100 5 tens: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 3 ones: 1, 1, 1

Can you use the MAB to partition these numbers on seesaw? If you are not using Seesaw you can draw them. Example: 327

collections to help us find the total.

Can you use the cards on the next page or on seesaw to circle groups of tens and ones? Example:

Challenge: Can you make these groups of tens and ones with items in your home to show us how different numbers can be represented? Post your work on Seesaw.

Complete a task on Mathletics.

You will need to use place value. Can you use the tens frames on the next page or on seesaw to represent these numbers? You will have two tens frames. One will represent the tens in your number and the other will represent the ones. If the number has more than one lot of tens you will need to group those items together to the side so you can reuse the frame. You can use any small object in your house as counters like beans or pasta! See example after the grid. Challenge: Can you represent the number 67 with your tens frames? Post your work on Seesaw.

1. Collect all the different things in your house that are blue (or colour of your choice).

2. Write down a list of all the items you have found.

3. Put the data in a table.

Watch the video Friday Maths Week 1 on Seesaw to help you.

Using the data in your table, answer the following questions:

1. What item was recorded the highest number of times?

2. What item was recorded the least number of times?

3. Write one observation about your table.

Challenge: Record yourself explaining the data you have collected. Is the data accurate? How do you know?

Science and Technology: Physical World

What is sound? How do we hear it? How is it made?

Sound is created when something vibrates and sends waves of energy (vibration) into our ears. The vibrations travel through the air or another medium (solid, liquid or gas) to the ear. The stronger the vibrations, the louder the sound. Sound changes depending on how fast or slow an object vibrates to make sound waves.

Complete the worksheets on the last 2 pages to answer the questions below for Predict and Explore.

Predict what sounds do you think maracas, triangles and tambourines make by answering the following questions. - Can any of these items make a sound without touching them? - Could they make a sound if you were able to touch them in some way?

Complete activities from the

grid below!

HISTORY: Changing Technologies 1

Technology is not just about computers; it is a lot more than that. Technology is something that has been invented to make it easier to do something else. It is always changing.

Today you are going to learn about how technology has changed over time.

• Look at the activity called Changing Technologies 1 on Seesaw.

• Listen to the information and follow the links to the videos.

• Use the template on page 4 or the one below, to draw a room in your home.

• Circle all the technologies and label them.

• Write about what they do.

Creative Arts: Art Listen to the Aboriginal story - How the Birds got their Colours by Mary Albert.

As you listen to the story, look closely at the images, colours and patterns. Think about how the pictures are used to tell a story.

Draw your own interpretation of a bird using bright colours. You may want to use bright paints, crayons, textas, pencils or feathers.

Take a picture of your artwork and post it on

Seesaw. PDHPE: This week for Physical Education (PE) you are learning to practice your kicking skills.

- What ideas do we have about how these items could make a sound? - Are there any items here that you don’t think could make a sound?

Explore: Watch the video of the maracas, triangles and tambourines being played to answer the following questions: - Were the sounds the same or different? - What were the different methods we used to produce sounds from all these items? - Could we change the sound we made in any way?

Post your video on Seesaw.

FAIR FOCUS:

The FAIR focus for this week is – Into Learning- Organise my working space.

Learning

• I will organise my workspace so that I am comfortable and able to focus.

• I will make sure I have the right equipment on my workspace such as computer, workbook, pencils etc.

Upload a drawing or a photo on Seesaw showing your workspace.

Examples: television, microwave, fridge, vacuum, etc.

Post your work on Seesaw

HEALTH: Safe Places What is a safe and healthy environment?

Read the information booklet below. As you read think about all the places that make you feel safe. Why do they make you feel safe? Discuss this question with your family and complete the activity on the last page of the booklet. The booklet and activity are also on Seesaw. Post your completed activity on Seesaw.

Grab a ball and start with your body behind the ball. Take a step forward with your non-kicking foot and place it 10-15 cm beside the ball. With your kicking leg swing towards the ball, you should contact the ball with your laces or the inside of your foot. Remember a good kick comes from the contact made with the ball not just the strength!

Practice kicking: • Kick to a target

further away

• Kick a ball up in the air

• Kick a ball rolling towards you

• Kick to a partner
