zAs a brand new and exciting innovation to the Victorian Education system, the Ultranet is still somewhat of an elusive and mysterious beast. Before long, as you become more familiar with it, it will become more like your domestic pet dog – good to have around and ever reliable!

Before we get started today, we would like to gauge a few of your basic understandings of the Ultranet and what it offers you and your school.

Throughout the day, use the form from your folder to record any questions you may have, things that you like or ideas that you might have about the use of the Ultranet.

To help you to develop some basic familiarity with the Ultranet, we would like you to complete a small ‘treasure hunt’.

At the end of any treasure hunt, there is an abundance of fantastic riches awaiting the person who gets there first. Except with this treasure hunt. You will only be getting a chocolate bar. But please give it your best shot anyway!

Work through the sheet in your folder and find the answer to each of the prompts. It will help to develop a basic understanding of the navigation and appearance of the different spaces within the Ultranet.

eTeachers and students both have their own eXpress space. This is a personal space. You can choose who sees what in your eXpress Space. It features a landing, wall, portfolio and profile page (and learning goals for students). You choose how best to build the content of your eXpress Space.

esCollaborative Spaces are available to teachers and students. The person who creates the space is the owner and moderator. Any student who sets up a space needs a teacher to approve it and moderate before it becomes live.

Moderator Role

• All online spaces MUST have a moderator whether set up by staff or students. Only staff can be moderators. If you set up a space, you automatically become the moderator of that space.

• Moderators are responsible for reviewing content in a space regularly to check its appropriateness. To support this process, all members of the space are able to flag inappropriate content for moderation.

• This will result in an email being sent to the moderator who can then review the content and take appropriate action.
