V__matrixWhat is it?

World’s 1st virtualized broadcast ecosystem with software-defined

functionality based on high-capacity generic compute blades

What does it do?

Free from the restrictions of legacy hardware platforms V__matrix

offers a completely virtualized real-time routing and processing

infrastructure. Instead of connecting single purpose modular

products in elaborate production chains the V__matrix is based

on data center principles of flexibility, fabric computing and COTS

economics and makes these available to any live production

broadcast environment. Whether OB truck, TV studio or broadcast

operation center, V__matrix creates a fully virtualized core

infrastructure.

The V__matrix ecosystem is based on generic high performance

core processing blades upon which Virtual Modules (VMs) are

loaded to create the functionality required. Each core processing

blade has dual QSFP+ connectors and can connect to COTS

switches with redundant 10GE or 40GE to create a fully distributed

IP routing and processing matrix. Using VSM SDN control X/Y

routing is frame-accurate just like with a legacy baseband router.

The V__matrix ecosystem scales linearly from tens to thousands of

I/O and processing functions which makes it ideal for any size live

broadcast facility, small or large.

The functionality of any core processing blade can be changed

in minutes by simply loading a different VM software package

thereby easily adapting to new requirements. A large selection of

available VMs include IP/SDI En-/Decapsulation, Routing, Frame-

Synchronizing, Audio & Video Delay, Audio Embed/De-embed,

Audio/Video Proc, Color Correction, Timecode Insertion, Test Signal

Generator, AV sync measurement, Waveform and Vectorscope

Display, Sync Generator & IEEE1588/PTP Master clock and lots

more. V__matrix opens the door to a fully format and function

agnostic infrastructure that finally provides broadcasters the

What does it do?

Lawo V__remote4 is also available as a stand-alone Plug & Play Remote Production

Kit, providing fully-integrated video, audio and intercom transport (via qualifi ed IP

WAN connections) for any third-party video and audio equipment. The kit connects

up to four camera CCUs via SDI or SMPTE 2022-6 for video and TCP/IP for control,

with audio mixers connected via MADI or RAVENNA / AES67. Lawo‘s IP-based

Compact Engine with audio I/O and GPIO on the remote site provides no-latency

V__remote4: New Robustness Features

Lawo’s V__remote4 was successfully used at this summer’s sports

event in Rio where it helped multiple broadcasters to realize remote

production studios. With its new robustness features V__remote4 is able

to cope with even bad networks in terms of packet-losses, PDV/Jitter

and missing PTP. The existing seamless protection switching for video,

audio and PTP is now enhanced with:

- Improved clock recovery with smooth target transitioning

- Flywheel TRS recovery

- Use of PTP-based video referencing in non-PTP-aware networks

- J2K stream-inherent redundancy levels and concealment

V__pro8: V__pro8 goes DOLBY E®

The V__pro8 8 channel video processing toolkit now also includes a

DOLBY E® encoding/decoding option with up to four DOLBY E®

en- or decoders. It provides fully compatible en-/decoding of

professional quality multi-channel audio on a single AES3 connection

with Dolby E® metadata handling. In combination with the unit’s

Dolby E® Auto Aligner, the V__pro 8 becomes the perfect transmission

path gateway for multichannel productions.

What does it do?

With the WALL users can configure any monitor wall, route signals,

change mosaic layouts or save and load user presets – all done

by a comfortable app. the WALL is the ideal solution for operators

and EIC to flexibly configure monitor walls in OBs or studios. In

the frantic live production environment with its demands for fast

changing production and workflow setups, the WALL enables

What is it?

Stand-alone Crosspoint Switching Panel

What does it do?

VSM SNAP is a budget control option that concentrates around

crosspoint control in a video router using a VSM LBP pushbutton

panel. VSM SNAP is available for a selection of LBP pushbutton

panels which can control 3rd party gear directly and without a VSM

server involved. VSM SNAP addresses small “crosspoint switching

only” applications, but can also act as a backup router control

solution for a VSM system.

VSM SNAP is available for four LBP pushbutton panels (LBP 17, 34,

51, 32DT), extended with a memory module and a specific software.

This enables the panels to talk router control protocols natively and

to process simple router control logic without a VSM server involved.

VSM SNAP panels are easily configured by the Windows-based VSM

SNAP software.

It is possible to run multiple VSM SNAP panels in the same network

and connect them to the same 3rd party device. For control, VSM

SNAP supports the most common control protocols natively, e.g.

Automated microphone and mixing control for close-ball applications

What does it do?

KICK 2.0 is a unique, patent-pending, automated audio mixing and microphone

control technology that redefi nes the audio production for major live sports

events that use a ball – soccer, rugby and football. Interfaced to popular image

analysis and tracking systems, KICK guarantees a consistent, fully-automated,

high-quality, close-ball audio mix. Already important in standard stereo or

What is it?

IP-based Commentary solution for OB trucks,

off-tube and host production

What does it do?

Lawo’s IP commentary product line is tailored to the needs of

today’s live broadcast productions, be it a OB truck, an off-tube

commentary or mid- to large-scale host productions. The fully

digital system is based on RAVENNA / AES67, a real-time Audio-

over-IP networking technology that enables the use of standard

IP networks for interconnecting venues and devices. The Lawo

solution spans the actual commentary unit, the IP-based link

infrastructure and the software-based commentary control room

management tools, to the convenient hand-over of all signals via

RAVENNA / AES67 or MADI – a complete solution from a single

source. Version 2.0 now also supports the direct connection of

LCUs to mc2 consoles and Nova routers for stand-alone operation,

e.g. on OB trucks.

What is it?

Universal Networked Audio Engine

What does it do?

The mc2 Micro Core is a versatile standalone audio processing

core, providing 192 DSP channels and a routing matrix of

512x512 channels. It is connected to the outside world via four

RAVENNA / AES67 ports – if MADI connectivity is needed, this

can be readily accomplished with A__madi 4, Lawo´s bidirectional

MADI-to-RAVENNA interface. The mc2 Micro Core is designed

to be controlled by a variety of external studio control systems,

as well as Lawo’s intuitive, touchscreen optimized mxGUI

software. The device is a perfect option for small-sized automated

applications where external studio control systems are triggering

the operation, e.g. in automated newsroom productions. Other

applications include small-sized routing applications with DSP

processing, e.g. for metering, and install sound applications,

where renowned Lawo processing features like Automix allow

automated mixing e.g. of panel discussions in meeting rooms.

Supported protocols and control systems include VSM, Evertz,

Quartz, BFE, Pharos, Ross RAP, GV Ignite and Vizrt Mosart,

among others. The processing core provides extensive diagnostic

tools for remote maintenance, including log files and http access,

just like any mc2 console. The compact 19“/3RU device uses

inaudible, low-spinning fans for cooling.

What does it do?

Nova37 is a compact 3RU audio router, with a fixed

RAVENNA / AES67 and MADI I/O configuration. It is perfectly

suited to instant set-up of small-sized audio networks with a

maximum of 1,536x1,536 crosspoints. In combination with

mc² 36 audio consoles and mc² Compact I/O stageboxes, the

new Nova 37 router becomes a very smart package for live

performance, installed sound and houses of worship: It is just

plug & play – you connect your consoles and I/O systems via

RAVENNA / AES67 or MADI, and the audio network is up and

running, providing immediate access to all sources. Network

user rights are easily managed directly from the console’s

touchscreen, using Lawo’s intuitive one-touch rights management

system. As an option in addition to its standard presets, the

Nova 37 configuration is fully customizable to specific customer

needs. As Nova 37 uses inaudible fans, it can be placed

anywhere in a setup.
