Two new multimillion-dollar buildings

opened at the Melbourne Campus this

year - the A$100million La Trobe Institute

for Molecular Science (pictured below)

and the A$288million AgriBio, the Centre

for AgriBioscience. Both multistorey

centres represent the University’s largest

investment together with State Government

funding, to accommodate major research

and train the next generation of scientists.

This is your pathway to a Diploma in

Business and/or Bachelor of Business/

Bachelor of International Business. To

obtain your Foundation Studies Program

certificate, you must complete and pass

at least eight out of nine units. Academic

Study Skills, Essential Mathematics,

Economics and Accounting are all

compulsory units. If you pass all Level 2

subjects and achieve an overall grade of

65 percent — with an overall grade of at

least 60 percent in Academic Study Skills

2 — you will be eligible for direct entry into

the Bachelor of Business or the Bachelor of

International Business. If you pass all Level

2 subjects but do not achieve an average

of 65 percent overall, you will be able to

proceed to the Diploma in Business.

This program is an excellent introduction

to the world of business. You will develop

important study skills as well as an

understanding of accounting, economics,

management, marketing and information

systems. Upon successful completion

you will be eligible to enter year two

of the specified La Trobe University

undergraduate degree programs.

The Bachelor of Business will keep you

up-to-date with a rapidly changing world

and the big issues affecting modern

business. You will complete a well-rounded

degree giving you a strong basis from

which to launch your business career in

either the private or public sector. A double

major option is available at no additional

cost, and with no extra study time required.

Accountants are in short supply and high

demand in Australia. This program requires

you to complete seven core units, nine

units from the accounting major and eight

electives from any other units offered at the

Sydney campus. It is also possible to do a

double major, with the second major either

in management or financial management.

This program is accredited by the Institute

of Public Accountants (IPA).
